Complete mare of day today after yesterday. Upgraded to a Cobra and upgraded and did a bit of hunting -now "mostly hatmless" . First launch this morimg got it all wrong when leaving a station and got hit by incoming ship, killed by station defenses. Tried to make up the loss and it happened again. 

First rare run (one way and netted about 150K if my sums are right). So a few hours on this and I will be on my way to getting rich quick!

not flown a cobra yet... is it too big to just hit the sideways , or up/down thrusters to move out the way? its  quite efective with the sidewinder....

 Shouldn't have really started playing as I didn't feel quite right - I later had a migraine  - my hand eye coordination can get a bit unhinged in a run up to a migraine attack.

Spent a while on last night and a good bit better off now - just thinking about buying a type 6 for some serious hauling- just need to be sure I can afford it (and the minimum upgrades for security/speed (the best FSD you can afford is worth the money for the increased jump distances)

A few hours work and I'm nearly back to where I was on Saturday. Currently doing runs avoiding the big stations and doing about 100kcr  /hour.  I might look into doing a rare run to Lave but currently 120ly away.  But have a look to see there are any nearb to take that way,

what are you running for such big profits? I have only seen 50k in my bank so far!

Hauler doing rare runs at I reckon about 200-250K/run (having a fuel scoop means not having to lose time in stations so actually works out better imho than the extra 2T storage - more runs). 4 refuels per 190ly trip. If you can stay away from stations, you get a hell of a lot more travelling done/hr - the palaver of dropping from warp, frameshifting to the station, docking, fuelling and getting back on track takes so much more time than 2-3 minutes scooping.

 

Now sitting with 1.25M credits and thinking about a type 6 and doing long rare loops (with the extra space you need loops to fill the cargo holds rather than dashing back and forward with the easily filled 16T).

 

If you are struggling with trading, have a look at the frontier forums - lots of advice and tips there for those willing to look (trading isn't the only way to make serious loot).

 

I might make a "donation run" of rares ( they don't cost a lot to buy!) if anyone is interested and willing to meet me (will be maximum of 16T split between whoever gets in touch and shows up)

Scooting between two stations 5ly apart both near star and have external landing pads selling metals in a cobra max 44t at a time make about 5k one way and 40k the other (+ bulletin board specials )  takes about 15 min return trip. boring as hell though. 

Not had time to sit down on this for a few weeks now. I went off to find a fight in my spacebus t-6. 

 

Will have some chill time coming soon. @Kilted, I figured that was a good way of transferring funds too... if horribly expensive conversion rate to blackmarket.. and course fed scans.

I have been doing mission for "factions" transporting messages and all sorts of stuff, find it quite interesting, may go on some kill missions, but not until I get an equipped out cobra! Tend to find they pay more money than I make in trading goods!

Will actually get a chance to play this tonight, as SWMBO, that does sound like a good way to share the resources, I am in an Adder at the moment and going to find the best place to do the metal runs as they seem to be the best way to make money, will look into the Rares trading as well tonight, not sure if it is worth it as the Adder has quite a small cargo hold

Have a scoot back on my posts I posted a quickish how to. Look for ecnomies that have platform/stations exporting performance enhancers, then pick the ones that are in boom... that should get you a good start.

 

Boils down to buy performance enhancers < 7k, sell to them for 7.5k ea. Rinse repeat. I can't remember where I'm docked, but it's a open top station with a luxuries so close I hardly get into shift drive before dropping. But the station sells at 6.8, so profit is only 68k ish for 5mins

 

I'll tell you where when I get home. If it's still valid and they have not moved onto a new desirable product.

Very easy to make quick money doing rares so one of the first things I did to the hauler was upgrade my shields and power (to the highest level available) so if attacked I have enough to withstand attacks while my FSD cools down and then recharges.

 

Gonna be a while before my current combat ship gets traded in for the Cobra though - I want it to be fully combat ready "off the shelf" so am allowing about 10-11M to buy and equip it.

been wondering about that... do I upgrade my adder, or go straight for the cobra! lolll.... been hauling gold... my the pirates want you then! manage to evade indiction most of the time

Top shields for  the Cobra (A4) are 1.5m cr.  Had no bother before this underhand and sneaky attack,   Blind Pew has had his card marked. (which is a bit ironic.)
