  • You'd have to be a bit daft to think there won't be. Ford has (unlike other car makers) realised that loads of people remap and found a way to influence what people do to their cars. At least by off

  • This is my one, love the little beast.

  • Makes you wonder why so few makers do have an approved remap available. You'd think it would be better for VAG to be involved in a safe remap for it's products that just leave the door open to a mult

Sometimes you just don't need one

I wish you hadn't quoted him :( I don't see his posts unless you quote them.  :D

Anyhoo did you know if you bought a paddling pool and put 400kg of high explosives underneath it, you would be able to accelerate a whole family of 5 much faster than a Golf 148ps thingy and they could do it in their swim wear. Hth

Again I am not stating anything about my car compared to a M135I or anything else, you are just wanting to wind me up again , but you accuse me of the same so much so you have to hide me so you don't feel tempted to wind me up again?

Confused?

Er yes. Would you like to see the dyno plot from mine?

I don't doubt it , just as I stated I was taking given figures from one tuning brand for both cars. No doubt another tuner can get more out of both cars, just I used one set of figures.

The devil is often in the detail.

I've just read an article where the Chief Executive of AMG has said they are going to do a new engine for the 400+bhp A class. Perhaps they are worried that VW will produce 420 and they want to beat that figure?

Anyhoo here is a link

Just been reading this on the new Golf GTI clubsport which has been launched for next year.

Not bad, depends on eventual price though as to whether it will sell better than the GTI PP

The most exciting hatch at the moment for me at least, is the facelifted A45. it still feels £4-5K overpriced, but the interior looks beautifully built and from the shots I've seen, better than anything else in the class. The handling shots of it caning around various circuits seem to suggest that the proper LSD and suspension revisions really do work. The car look awesomely quick. The only downside (apart from I can't afford one) is the anodyne engine/exhaust note. The pops, bangs and crackles are great fun, but ultimately would become wearying I think and the standard noise is a bit 'droney' (is that a word?)

Initial reports in the few 'first drive' reviews I've read are very promising. It seems to be the car the RS3 wants to be, except it doesn't sound anything like as good as the RS3. If the Golf R400 is as good or better, then people with a few quid in the bank will be well and truly spoilt :)

Still quite happy with my own 'hot hatch'. Granted it cannot compete with the new boys in terms of running costs but it happily keeps up on the road and if i was that way inclined could just chuck in another £800 or so to bump it up much closer to the 400bhp mark (from the 330 it sits at)

True but it's a baby AMG and one day it will grow up to be .........

Well maybe not, but it is still something a little bit special :) That might make the difference in this age we live in were every manufacturer has a 300+bhp hatch for sale, well it might to people with deep pockets.

Saw a new Type R this evening...thought it looked gash

The M140i and M240i will be along fairly soon....also there will be a proper M2 with getting on for 400hp.

I like the A45....gather the ride is *******s and its motor whilst v powerful is only 4 cyl, lacks character and isnt particularly high revving. Also outrageously expensive when you start building on it meagre standard spec.

Still think the M135i takes a lot of beating...worth buying for the engine and ZF 8-HP box alone.

The new A45 not only has more power but they have allegedly sorted out the suspension (a bit). :)

The new M140 will probably not be a significant upgrade in power (some say it will be the same specs), especially as the new engine isn't quite as tough as the existing one (something to do with these new modular designs) so I am not too worried that my M135 will outdated much :) Besides they wont' allow the 140 to tread on the M2's toes too much as that has been pegged back so it doesn't tread on the M3's toes. "I 'look down on him.........."  Hopefully the M2 will be allowed to be spoken about in this and similar hatchback threads, as it isn't really a hatch (although it's super closely related). I'm looking forward to the M2, but it will be out of my price bracket and I'd only worry about it being nicked if I did have one (do I sound like I'm trying to convince myself not to sell a couple of my livers in order to fund one :D)

Didn't Autocar get some crazy performance figures out of a 330D a couple of years ago. Claiming it was all the car anyone could ever want or something. I think they hit 62 in mid or low 5 seconds, which isn't bad for their standard 6 cylinder diesel, plus the economy was in the high 40s. Mind you I see that Audi is now producing a fairly powerful 3.0TDi in the new A4 too. Everyone seems to be producing cars with around 450lb/ft or more in their standard 3.0 diesels these days, which is a win for the consumer in my book. :)

Reading this, they did something similar about the e39 530d tourer being one of the best cars ever, I think the 330d m sport touring is up there with my next cars, I like the 335d but two turbos to go wrong scares me a little bit!

The trouble with the new Car mag website is they limit the number of articles you can read if you either don't pay a subscription. Guess what has happened to me reading any more of their articles :D

I've always wanted to like the 4C more than I actually do. I find it's styling contrived and a bit fugly if I'm honest.

It's also way to wide for what it is....

Wasn't sure which was the relevant thread to post this, but it's probably this one. It made me laugh and think of a member or two on Brisky :D it comes from Sniff petrol and is part of their fun take on the VW diesel 'crisis'

My cars faster than yours and cost a lot less ;P

or read it below

There was more trouble for VW today with news that a mk4 Golf TDI driven by Gary Kestrel of Coventry doesn’t make the ‘easy 250 horsepower’ claimed by its owner, despite being ‘chipped and ****’.

‘Gaz is always going on about how much power his Golf’s got,’ said a source close to Mr Kestrel, his mate Fat Carl. ‘But then the other night in the Horse & Jockey, Welsh Ken told him he was full of ****.’

The consequences of this remarkable expose are yet to be seen but could sting Mr Kestrel to the tune of 18 billion times he will have to delete a post on an internet forum written under the user name ‘Torquemaster’ and in which he claims to have ‘burnt off’ some kind of supercar.

‘I wouldn’t feel too sorry for Gaz,’ said confident Tony Tits. ‘His Golf still leads the way on other things, like making a kitten huge racket on start up and dumping a massive black cloud of **** behind it every time he accelerates.’
