New focus rs - looks a bit pants imho...

Was emailing the director of a Ford dealership I've dealt with for years. He's a total Ford nut.

He told me it's looking like the price is going to be about £33500 for the mk3 RS, but that would go up depending on what colour or upgrades you wanted.

It's just starting to look a bit more expensive than first thought.............

If the spec is half decent it sounds perfectly acceptable.

To get a £40k RS3 up to what I consider half decent spec means the car is around £46k.  And a slower, less powerful and (probably) less fun S3 £35k.

To be fair that's part of the package to me.  And they already know I'm coming anyway. :giggle:

I want a car that doesn't blend in with all the mudane things on the road in boring colours.

It's the reason I prefer the styling of the RS and the Type R to the Golf R and S3.

It's also the reason I hate the new polished primer colour VAG are slapping on all kinds of stuff.

I like a bit of colour.

Personally, I find these things are car specific. I wouldn't want a shouty German thing, as I suspect it would attract the wrong sort of attention. A rasping Italian on the other hand is all about announcing your arrival, and is one of the key reasons for owning one!

Yes I agree to an extent Bossfox.....but Fords have always been affordable to the normal man, hence why the RS and ST brands are ever-popular. I suspect (and please don't take offence) that you aren't fazed by the financial difference between £29k and £34k, or even £40k+, but unfortunately I am. Especially as we are not sure how well the mk3 will hold its value compared to the limited focus runs of the mk1 and mk2 RS.

Although people should never really buy a car based on depreciation.........I wouldn't want to spend circa £35k and find that the mk3 RS is worth half that in 3 or 4 years. However, I have promised myself that if I DO get a mk3 I'm going to keep it long term.

It's quite a difficult pricing decision in that way I guess.

They are building a good hyper hatch which could be genuine fun, but have to do all that without spending too much.

I believe that's why it uses the stock Focus body shell with bits stuck on, rather than the wider shell they made for the mk2 RS.

If they can get the predicted future values right then the PCP deals will be OK to shift them, as many people will get them on this basis.

On the RS3 a decent spec car at £46k has a three year old value of £23k.  A drop of £23k.  If the RS is £33k it's got to be way in front as it's never going to be worth around £10k in 3 years, so should come in far cheaper on a monthly basis.

I know what you are saying about Bling & Shouty cars & standing out from the norm.

But you have a few Q Cars, like the Looking OEM Yeti & soon to be out there being very Q car Citigo.

A Bought from the Ford Dealership ST / RS in which ever colour option in the Sales Brochure is just another normal car

but a Hot Hatch bought at a Dealership

& Ford as other Manufacturers always launch some of the first cars in 'Look at me Colours' so that the Public Notice them on the roads from first being aware in the media adverts.

Yes, but they are both track toys really.  Loud colour shouty cars are normal on track.

On the road I much prefer the Fiesta ST, Urban Camo Roomster or Skyline.

For as much as I like the focus RS and would love one, but that's not to be. I was more impressed with that transit car transporter bending in the middle, how cool was that.

Not sure about the engine note or the light blue look.

Looked quite a smooth run but how did times compare on the day?

I'd prefer to see how it actually performs comparatively before writing it off due to the sound (or lack of it)

There's no point having a car which sounds like a Formula 1 car if it can't outperform a Formula E

Quite like this more general discussion thread,

More and new details arrive at Frankfurt show :http://www.evo.co.uk/ford/focus-rs/16703/2015-ford-focus-rs-price-announced-just-how-much-does-345bhp-cost

http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/ford/focus/89077/new-ford-focus-rs-345bhp-mega-hatch-on-sale-now-from-28940

I think Ford were always going to undercut VW R7 and Honda Type R coz that's their thing.

Think they have missed a(Profit) trick, with the Audi RS3 and the Proposed Faclifted A45 AMG being so overpriced in comparison,if they really had the confidence in the design. quality / performance of their product ,not yet arriving in UK until early to mid 2016,they would have pitched the price say midway between R and RS3 etc. Say £34k  imo

Window of opportunity for VW to do  minor improvement uplifts in Power, braking and handling before mid 2016.Prior to say R420 and others being brought on

production stream, say 2017.

Shame that there is no RS configurator  yet available from Ford, to get a "real price" /spec comparisons with  the competition

So I'm told that the new RS configurator will be available to view in the next couple of days.

Yes I just told you on the other thread in this section, before you found this old one to bump up.

Boss, you were wrong I raised up the Original Thread after you shut off your old one,as I like this free format better. I like to stay with the Original, just my view, that's all.

Thanks for your update on Configuration, unfortunately there was nothing on the Ford UK website. So I assume your information is accurate. Cheers

Would have thought that with initial deposits paid by some on here and many on the Focus OC that the full specs would have been available before now,as first production cars are rumoured to be coming off the line in the first week of January 2016

So because it's cheaper than the almighty Golf that can do no wrong you think that they don't have faith in their product.

Maybe they just don't want to rip their customers off and and want to sell the car at a fair price.

I really think it's about time you took your blinkers off about the Golf just because you think it's the best car ever doesn't mean everyone else has to. It would be nice to see a post occasionally that doesn't end up with you just saying how much you love Golfs and that they are better than everything else.
