I think I recall him saying he enjoyed his time in the orbiter. But must have been hard to get so close and not be on the surface

Last Thursday when I was going to walk the dog I spotted a lad having problems with his motorbike. Turned out the chain had come off the rear sprocket and jammed. I wasn’t surprised as it was a cheap Hyosung in poor condition. As best we tried we couldn’t get the chain unjammed. He was panicking as it happened a few times causing him to be late for his job at the local Tesco to me and was afraid of losing his job. Taking pity on him I went pack to get the Shogun, put the bike in the back and dropped at my house so I could fix it after I’d dropped him off at Tesco. He was a bit reluctant at first thinking I was going rob his bike until he saw my bike in the garage. 

Back in my garage I realised the bolts for the sprocket were fitted the wrong way round so whipped the wheel out, releasing the chain at the same time and fitted it correctly putting the right tension on the chain and some much needed lube. Took it for a little spin up the road and the brakes barely worked,  clutch adjustment was way out and the engine was sluggish. I took it back in the garage to set about tinkering with it a bit more. Clutch adjustment was just the cable and front brakes needed a bleed. The air filter was filthy so blew as much out as I could with the compressor before refitting. Getting a bit carried away I dropped the oil too, which was more like treacle. Refilled with some 10w/40 I had, no idea if it’s the right grade but had to be better than what came out. Altogether just over an hours work. 

The lad, Tadeo, was dropped off by his work mate who I think also came as back up for him to get his bike back. I explained what I’d done to fix it and after much thanks he was off again. 

Last night we got a knock on the door and Tadeo was back with gifts of home made food. He was embarrassed that he’d virtually ran off with his bike after collecting it. He couldn’t believe how much better the bike was after I’d fixed it, it was better but still a pile ****.  He then went onto to explain he was coming back from Huddersfield Uni were he is studying before going straight to his main job at Tesco, he also had a cleaning job in the morning.  He went on to explain he’d come over from Burkina Faso, near Ghana as an asylum seeker with his sister and her daughter. He is studying software engineering but needs to work all the jobs he can get as his sister can’t find work due to not speaking English, she speaks French. His sister had made the food as a thank you on his behalf and it was delicious. He left asking us to visit them, meet his sister and niece for another meal.  It certainly made up for what had been a bad day at work.

Briskoda is very unpredictable. Saturday I pick up 10 points which was nice but on Sunday it was like the UK entrant's score in Eurovision NIL points. So yesterday not expecting much after the quiet Sunday and BOOM 22 points which I think is a record for me.

Unfortunately he would probably end up by upsetting the Clangers (showing my age).One way ticket would be better.

I was waiting for you to post England 42 for 6 wickets against Ireland in the 4 day Test Match. Perhaps it will only take 3 days. Turning out to be a good week for the Irish.

Glad that I am not young or fit enough to be cycling on the Tour De France at the moment. Not only are the riders dealing with 41Cheat they are having to drink on average 22 bottles of fluid each per day.

I opened one of the side storage compartments in the boot of the Superb today and found a bottle of Jura!

Obviously I must have drank too much to remember it was there?

Saturday was a bit cloudy and warm, but Sunday was cracking and it was my birthday. I had to go out and fix a machine for a customer on Saturday, so on Sunday we went to Hurst Castle in the new forest. Took the wife's Fabia for the 160 mile round trip at an average 55mpg. Came perilously close to Southampton each way.😁

Very pleasant day out, with about an hour walk to the castle and then a ferry boat ride back to the car park. Lots of visitors at the castle, made you proud to be British in a nice corner of Britain.
