VCDS options on Superb III

I'm sorry, but I don't get what you intend to do with a Lane Assist system which would not "Adaptative" anymore... 🤔

Maybe I missed something.

Speaking of lane assist...

I was wondering if it possible to enable it if my car has traffic sign recognition but not lane assist? There is a comment describes how to do the opposite. I assume, if the traffic signs are recognisable by the car, lane assist should be possible as well.

I found this video on youtube:

The steps taken in the video summarized:

17 Instruments
  07 Coding
    Byte  4, Bit 6 - Lane Assist > true
Byte 11, Bit 1 - Lane retention assistant: BAP distance > true
A5 Driver Assistance
  07 Coding
    Byte 16, Bit 7 - HC > true
  16 Security Access - 20103
  10 Adaptation
    IDE10873-BAP personalization > not activated
IDE10872-Warning intensity: lane depart warning > medium
5F Information Electr (?)
  10 Adaptation
    ENG122229-ENG11740-Car_Function_List_BAP_Gen2_LDW_HCA_0X19 > activated
    ENG122227-ENG117506-Car_Function_Adaptations_Gen2-menu_display_Lane_Departure_Warning > activated
    ENG122227-ENG117508-Car-Function_Adaptations_Gen2-menu_display_Lane_Departure_Warning_over_threshold_high > activated
44 Steering Assistance
  16 Security Access - 19249
  07 Coding
    Byte  3, Bit 0 - Lane assist > true

Using OBD11 I can see that the 5F controller is called multimedia in my car, but in the video it is called Information Electr. This doesn't seem right. The video is 2 years old though, maybe an older firmware?

Any thoughts on this?

@Bap33 No worries. I will try to explain more precisely. There are different kind of Lane Assist beginning on most basic one which just warns driver about getting edge of lane with acoustic/visual sign. Another is one which warns but also can intervene once get edge (car just bounces from edge to edge) and then the one more advance which is called Adaptive it warns/intervenes but has also ability to keep car in the middle of lane what is called Adaptive lane guidance (if active, one can feels constantly small movements of steering wheel). BTW you was right in other thread this is not autonomous system and driver should always keep hand on steering wheel.

To last I refer to. There is option in driver assistance settings menu to switch on/off Adaptive lane guidance. There are situation I don't like it and I found above mentioned coding to get 'fast' access to disable/enable option. However it's not clear to me what should I expect after coding and I would like to be sure before make any changes. Hope this make case clear.

@enisz first of all you need hardware so if your car has A5 camera (triangle slot in the top middle part of windscreen) there should be chance but watch out there are some differences between FL and preFL models and also there are different variants of A5 so coding should chosen accordingly. If you use OBD11 you can also check One Click App option (cost 100 credits about 17€ on official web page).

As for naming, I believe ID of control unit is the most important, here 5F is 5F remember this video shows VCDS and you refer to OBD11 similar CU 17 can be called Instruments or Dashboard. Moreover it's not always like this e.g. in my car Park/Steer Assist is CU 76 and on video you can find it as CU 10 so depend on model and soft you are using.

Just to update about latest findings about hc_longpress. This is for Audi only. Looks like there is combination switch containing dedicated line assist button.

I tried doing the mod according to the video but all I got was warning messages on the dashboard so I reverted it. i can stay between the lines anyway :D . Would have been a nice feature to have though.

Not sure if all. Have S3 2019 DADA prelift and tried to change it to unfold after ignition. Tried all setting avaiable in Car Scanner and OBD11. Nothing worked and there was few codes in module. Reverted factory settings back.

HI,

When you revert back to factory setting, how basic does the car become, i.e. are all the standard features back but all your modifications gone?

It was just about folding mirrors. Mods in other modules left untouched.

Turns out the car knows when the key fob battery is low, so why is the owner not informed via the infotainment in the Vehicle Status screen, along with other warning/errors?

Or do some model years actually show it?

The mk3 Octavia displays a low key battery warning message.

Is there a way to enable it to show on the Superb?

Below is wat shows up when a scan is done.

According to my info, you will get the warning when it will be needed. I get the nagging even two, three months before the battery really dies.

I had a similar message on my MY17 Mk3.

My 2021 Superb IV warned me when the key battery was low, I replaced both batteries with Panasonic batteries.

@mtl , @Bap33 - I've never seen that message in the 7 yrs I've owned the car.

Mine is MY17, with KESSY.

I know my battery is low when it doesn't lock/unlock when it should, or open/close boot when it should.

So far I've replaced my key battery 3 times, maybe 4....

The scan clearly indicates that it "knows" the battery is low, yet there is no visible user notification.

Strange.

I get that message on my Octavia MY2015 with Kessy.

This is only possible with an additional box that reads the values. Search for Polar FIS

Is it possible to change smart light assist behaviour? When it's on and beam forming around something, flashing turns it off instead. The fact that most of the time i don't know if it's on or not doesn't help at all

No.

You should know if your high beam assist is on because you can see the icon of a white light beam with an "A" inside in the dashboard. When you flash your brights the HBA turns off.

That is on by default. Flashing when smart light assist is doing something turns off both the A icon and all parts of the high beam, meaning a second pull is needed to actually flash the high beams in full. All i want is for the blanking rollers to move away and flash the high beam first try

Morning all.  Hoping someone can help.  I am trying to find the coding needed for changing the ACC wait time.  This being the time the car will sit behind another before automatically moving off with ACC.  The stock setting is 3 seconds.  I know the settings are in there somewhere but I have searched all the usual sites for a good few days and not finding anything.  I can only assume it's the terms I am using for the searches.

I was certain there was someone on here that altered the wait time.  Can anyone help?

I'm not aware of anyone who has been able to successfully change the 3-sec ACC wait time to b a longer interval.

Would certainly b nice to have.

It is however possible to change the 12-sec hands on lane keeping assist to b 60-secs, via an updated parameter file for the Gateway module.

There's definitely something that can be done.  How widely accessible it is across models is another matter.  It was either on here, SpeakEV, Rosstech or OBDeleven.  I really should have made better effort to save it.  At the time I thought it would be easy enough to get back to.  I'll let you know if I find something.  I don't have Lane assist unfortunately.  Maybe I just need a session digging through the modules.

@MarkyG82 - I've scoured through countless OBDEleven, Rosstech and VW forums - seen no luck of anyone doing it successfully.  At least that I could find.

I even checked the Russian forums.....no deal.

If u do find - that will b gold.
