Cruise control issue?

Featured Replies

Hi,

Not sure if this is an issue or not so keeping an eye on it.  It my previous VRs TDI CR 62 plate the cruise control would drop out as soon as you touched the brake pedal.  I had a situation today where this didn't happen on my 65 plate which created a bit of a squeaky bum moment and the more I think about it I'm pretty certain it has always been the same since I've had it (8 weeks now - 2k on the clock) and I've had to disable it via the stalk.  Can anyone confirm if it should disable after hitting the brake?  Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Cheers

M

Yes it does disable when pressing the brake pedel, but not the clutch like previous octavias.

Exactly right, it disengages when you press the brake. I'd get that checked, should be easy to check on a quiet road at less terrifying speeds [emoji23]

It should 100% cancel the cruise control when pressing the brake.

As a quick check at home, try lightly pressing the brake pedal to see if your brake lights come on or if you need to press further before they are active.

They are usually 2 redundant systems for brake pedal switches & I would expect cruise control to be cancelled if either are pressed.

So if your brake lights are working but CC doesn't cancel, there is a quite serious problem with the car/electronics & you should go to the dealer asap..

Thanks Gents - will have to try and find time later to give it a test.  To/from work currently is just down the motorway and mainly through roadworks (which is where the trouser cough moment occurred this morning).  Need to be on an open road as suggested to test safely.

Take it to a dealers and let them do the dangerous bit. If they bin it then that's their problem. Not your insurance :)

Fair point but I want to make sure it's not an 'ID 10 T' error first  :D

You can activate cruise control at 30kph I think so you can do this at low speed where its safer and easier to test it.

Exactly the point I was about to make, I know it works at a more manageable speed, I recall showing it to a friend when I'd just gotten the car.

In the meantime, just remember to a few spare pairs of underpants in the boot until you get it sorted   :D
