Sat Nav error message

Featured Replies

Taken delivery of new SE L Octavia in early November.  Only problem is that I occasionally get "Checking navigation data" message when selecting navigation and it simply hangs on that.  I switch off Amundsen, remove and replace sd card, switch on and it works!

Anyone else had this issue?

Mine has done this for the first time since owning the car. Do you know if there is a fix?

... get a Columbus

I occasionally get the checking Nav Data when I first turn the car on if Ive turned the car off on the Nav screen, but it has always eventually loaded??

Ah, I had this for the first time last night with my new Octavia, bought in March.

It kept checking all the way home, a 40 minute drive.

Woke up this morning in a rush, drove off and realised it was working again.

Is this because the sat nav is having a bit of a wobbly, or is it genuinely updating data?

Do I need to 'do anything'?

cheers

Does anyone have an answer to why this 'checking navigation data...' comes up. Mine has started doing it, 7 month old car.

Get a Garmin. Even my mother's vauxhall Nav system is way superior to these poor attempts

I've just downloaded the 14Gb of new map/gps data from their website (only took about 35') and extracted the contents to a sdxc card, but after reading this article I'm a bit nervous about putting the card into the system in case it screws it up.

Not that I use it much as it seems to be missing quite a bit of data especially around Crawley and Gatwick Airport amongst others.

There is a new update due any day now, so maybe better off waiting to download the newer version before trying.

However, in general navigation updates seem pretty robust as its just "data", its not installing anything.

I haven't heard of this issue from many other people on this forum.

Have you asked the dealership because it sounds like it could be a dodgy SD card or perhaps a bad connection/contact once its inserted?

Does anyone have the link to the updates please?

I haven't updated maps yet. As per the op I've found if you switch it off, take out sd card and put back in and switch on again it cures it, so maybe a card/ unit contact/ connection issue. No big deal really as I hardly ever use the Sat nav, but will mention to dealer when car goes for first service.

Does anyone have the link to the updates please?

The last update was November. There was a thread from AndyVee with the direct download links.

The next update is due any day now in "May 2016" so its probably worth waiting for the new one.

It can take many hours to download the 20Gb updates...!

When I put in my VIN for the Amundsen it tell me the next update is June.

Also. does anyone know why it tells me there are no software updates as I know my version is well out of date (March 2013)?

Thanks

GPS update has now changed from May to June & now to November? When you search via your VIN

That's just a generic message, if you check on the webpage of the portal website, it will explain to you! How to check what current version of maps you are running but from what you say above, I would guess your maps are out of date & could do with the update anyway

Thanks for that, but my maps are up to date, it's the software that's out of date as I can't get things like speed limits which others say they have.
