New Golf R - Part 2

Featured Replies

Do you have a clause in your lease plan that allows you to buy the car, or is the lease company good for such things?

I can't but I have been told that another person (ie person not on agreement can). Car is leased direct via vw

  • Well picked up my new car today... a Leon Cupra Initial verdict.... F**K its quick!! (of course it would be after a Citigo)

  • My R arrived on Friday along with my Dad's GTI!  Didn't even know there was a part two to this thread so have missed 9 pages!

  • I do sometimes think that copying and pasting (without editing) makes it awfully hard for people to instantly see what's trying to be said! Any chance of some pruning the next time please Keith?

Nice drive in the USA fantastic scenery, not quite the same as Wiltshire Country Road. However, the same R driving attributes.

Keith that link displays as gibberish as does the one before it?

Sorry ,still having YouTube / Briskoda transfering data since recent Briskoda sign-in changes.

Thanks Keith.

That's a very nice driving road, it's been a while since I've been out in California, but I do remember driving down Topanga Canyon Boulevard on Xmas day in 1980 to the ocean,

& it wad a very nice drive.

SoCal traffic can be a pain, but once you get away from  the urban sprawl, it's a different world.

That Commodore is a big old bus, but looks a hoot to drive. It sounded nice too :)

A bit surprised to see the M135 was joint second around the track and equal to the RS3 in time (RS3 probably had the best soundtrack though :) ). As an owner it seemed odd to me that the tester left the car in auto for his spirited road drive.

Well just spent the last four days clocking up 600miles in a rental van taking things to my daughters in the Midlands and running around up there, spent well over 8hrs on motorways and plenty more hours on countless other roads....not seen a single flaming Golf R?

All these mentions of them being such a common place car and in some instances seen everywhere, I saw nothing :(

I looked everywhere making a point of keeping a proper look out too.

Well impressed with the 64plate transit custom I had did 643 miles on £70.60 worth of diesel @ £1.04 a litre!

Come to Glasgow - you can't move for them here!

Same here mate.

Theyre everywhere.

Plenty in Scotland and lots around Aberdeen and North East but they are greatly out numbered by Audi S3 of the same age.

They are prolific.

I've not seen that many hereabouts, normal cars + oversized SUV's clutter-up our local car parks.

The most common car in our street seems to be the Kuga, but there is a nice drop-head Bentley in the posh house.....

Very popular in Manchester

Agreed

Nearly as many R's are there are normal spec Golf's ;):D

Golf R's seem to be like belly buttons here in Edinburgh.......everyone has got one!

I had a little "do" with one around a 5 mile twisty road, the R looked faultless around the bends, where i was fighting to keep control, out in the straight it was so much faster. 100 horses more and 4x4 petrol. I think he was a bit shocked my 13 year old fabia did as well as it did :P

Looks a fantastic drivers car!!

He must of been a terrible driver.

I wouldn't really call it a drivers car where you can't really lose control with it.

Yeah they arent bad are they.

I had one following me on the bike last weekend. Wasnt slow. Carried good pace in the corners.

Not enough on the straights, but impressive for a Golf

I think I am currently sold on the R in midnight blue (maybe not the shade in the photo) on Pretoria 19"s

I've been toying with a set of 19" s with these;

Cannot justify VW's price for some prets.

For 100£ I say they are worth it!

Clarification: Currently a great campaign running over here with a lot of standard equipment including Pretorias for practically no extra cost. How much do they cost in a normal UK configuration?

They're £915 if initially specified.
