For all the sneering (not on here, mostly in the comments section of the Guardian and elsewhere), some expressing a dislike of Evans or LeBlanc etc etc, I'm really looking forward to watching a beauti

  • No one.   Just leave it to Chris Harris, Sabine and Rory.   No need for doing stupid things and blowing up stuff. That's what Clarkson, Hammond and May do and you are never going to replicate the

That probably explains why you've not heard of Texas at least...

I actually wasn't a big fan of the latest episode of extra gear. Taking th, Volvo round the track seemed pointless and really not sure what I made of the whole crying thing.

Started watching it, but Evans turned up early on so I whizzed through  that bit. The rest had little about cars and too much chat, so I whizzed through most of that.

Ahhh,  Texas. The band I try turn the radio off before the've finished the first note.

I'm sure they're really nice people, but musically do absolutely nothing for me.

Yeah, I don't really understand the point of the celebrity point on that show either? Bring in Stephen K Amos or someone else, ask them what they drive and have a random, slightly awkward chat

That's the big state next to Mexican border, no?

I've seen Seasick Steve perform & I'd rate his music too, but I / we had never heard of the other two guests...........

As for days on the planet, app 25K & counting, & about 450,000 miles behind the wheel....

I used to listen to Seasick Steve quite a lot but he's fallen foul of the mainstream trap. Back on topic a little, in this context he's just another one of Evans' mates, of which the program is tooooo full of.

Tinie Tempah, he's that little known artist who performed at the closing 2012 Olympics ceremony

Just to go back off topic, what is the "mainstream trap"?

Just to go back off topic, what is the "mainstream trap"?

Stuff that was good when alternative but then gets a bit popular, ends up in radio play lists and gets played to death to the point you get sick if hearing it. The artists then find themselves being faithful to a newer, different audience ultimately making their music tamer, more polite and a lot less interesting. Examples include:

Kings of Leon

Nirvana

Primal Scream

Elbow

Foo Fighters

Red Hot Chili Peppers

Etc...Like them or not, it's what happens, some bands have done well to avoid it happening. Best tactic = don't release singles

Adele, anybody?

Adele, anybody?

I tend to go for HP or Acer generally

:)

Good one Brimma. Took me a few seconds to get it.

Which would presume that we actually watched the 2012 Olympics closing ceremony. (or the opening for that matter)

Adele, anybody?

Who?

Exactly.

(I like your motto about boot packing, YellowCar.)

+1.

We did record them, but could never persuade ourselves to watch the recordings, so Tine Tempah & his work remains an unknown quantity.

Probably going to stay that way............

Who?

+1 again !

Anybody want to bet how many celebrities/Chris' mates are on this week? I'm going for 6, beat last week by 1. Probably equates to 2 more celebrities than there are cars.

Not sure, but Mr Evans has taken two days off of his radio 2 programme this week to do 'some important filming'

Which has improved the "Radio 2 Breakfast Show".

I dunno, I think Mark Goodier is a bit of a lemon as a stand in, radio is one thing Evans is very good at I reckon, jury is still out on motoring programmes

Evans is just about bearable on the radio probably because you can't see him. He's still too shouty and it's me me me.
