Just a word about doing this upgrade with a Mac onto the sd-card from an Amundsen stereo. You have to copy the new maps to the skoda supplied sd-card,  this is because the Amundsen has been paired to

  • If you have 2 SD Cards slots and an SD Card in both make sure you use the correct Card and don't delete your music in error. It doesn't matter which slot you put the updated map info Card into.

  • An update to this topic. I just successfully updated my satnav data from the Skoda website - no problems at all.   I have an Amundsen satnav, with 16GB SD Card (14.8 GB actually !) and I'm u

Just noticing your Scottish flag.

I updated to the lastest map software when I bought my car at the start of this year. Driving today from M9 - South Queensferry road, turned right for Edinburgh at the new roundabout and headed on to the M90 towards Edinburgh. According to the SatNav I was in the middle of a field.  Despite new Queensferry crossing opening late August of last year, still no indication of it or any of the new roads around it on the map db. Have you found that too?  Seems like a major omission - felt like I was in James Bond's Lotus Esprit crossing the Forth on the return leg.

yeah, nothing in that area has been updated. DIsappoitingly my 3 years of free updates runs out in July and it seems this year's update is pushed back to August so I will miss out

I updated my satnav at the end of April. I went over the Queensferry Crossing a couple of weeks ago. While it's not quite "right" it did have me on a bridge across the Forth, although it was showing as a minor road rather than a major one. The approach to the bridge wasn't quite right, nor were the junctions at the north side. So it looks as if there have been some updates but they're incomplete at this time.

HI There.

Iv got a 2011 Octavia se plus estate  with a AMUNDSEN sat nav  ,I want to update  but I don't have the original sd card .

any idea what to do please ...I'm lost, I tried the updater but says only dealer can up date the sat nav ,is this correct..

Regards from

Ian

A 2011 Amundsen will need a new SD card. You need to find out if you have an Amundsen or an Amundsen + unit, the cards are different. If your unit runs sat nav with the SD card (or cd) in the unit for navigation then it's an Amundsen. If your unit runs the sat nav without any media inserted then it'll be an Amundsen +.

This particular thread is for the Amundsen II unit, not relevant to your unit at all.

Thanks.....there is SD card slot on the left side of the unit .

Remove it and see if the sat nav still works. Also there'll be a part number on there which would help.

There is no CD card inserted, the slot is empty

Then you'll have an Amundsen + unit.

That means you need a new SD card for an Amundsen + unit. Dealer cost about £150 or so,although Dutch Skoda dealers have been selling them for nearly half that price in previous years as I recall. Or there are many sellers on Ebay selling cloned cards (stolen technology reproduced with tech wizardry) for much less, some of which might even work.

V10 are the latest maps, but this version usually causes random reboots of the machine when installed so personally I'd go for V9.

Nope, that's an Amundsen II card. You need an Amundsen + card.

You might do better searching for an RNS315 card which is the VW equivalent and will also work in your unit. Make sure it's a brand new card, once used they become useless except for the unit they're used in first time.

Thanks

Hi I have purchased a brand new sd card with 2018 updates for £44:00

£100 off in sale, its a Amundsen + machine ..at satnavishop.

thanks for help and advise

Yes, you purchased a cloned card. With a bit of luck it'll work, and you won't have any problems.

Thanks to this thread I have successfully updated the card in our 2016 Octavia.

The basic Skoda portal guide let me down, with the map (card) not being recognised, even after initially accepting that a an appropriate SD card had been found.

It took me two shots to get it right - the key trick was the re-formatting of the SD card using Option 2 for NTFS not FAT, then unzipping the files to the card.

As one living north of Hadrian's Wall, I also enjoyed a blue sky trip across the M90 Queensferry Crossing last week - which prompted me to seek a map update.

I bought a version 9 Sd card 25 quid .put in slot a presto took about an hour to update..

Works fine

But how can you put speed cameras on ??

Once again. You're in the wrong thread here. This thread is for (and related only to) the Amundsen II units (both MIB1 and MIB2 from 2013 onwards) and your Amundsen + unit is not relevant. There are many other threads in the correct forum section where the Amundsen + unit and it's updating are discussed in depth.

Also, you appear to have an alter ego, either by design or by accident. https://www.briskoda.net/forums/profile/170524-ijsporter24/

And https://www.briskoda.net/forums/profile/169774-ijsporter/

Both very similar names, both talking off topic in the wrong thread.

Hmm....Map Update to in excess of 72 hrs to download, then I had great difficulty 'unpacking' it. I also stupidly didn't create a backup as I noticed as soon as I read Muirgarth's post.

Not quite sure what my next step is now. Any suggestions?

Thanks very much BATVANVRS. Very much appreciated!

...Anyone got a screenshot of how the files should appear on the SD card? I've succeded in downloading the files from the link provided by BATVANVRS , but message reads 'Please insert a data medium with valid navigation data'
