...Anyone got a screenshot of how the files should appear on the SD card? I've succeded in downloading the files from the link provided by BATVANVRS , but message reads 'Please insert a data medium with valid navigation data'

If it's an MIB2 satnav and you have the original Skoda 16Gb (or thereabouts) SD Card, then when you browse the SD card in Windows you'll see the following folder in the root -

"maps"

(it's ok if there is also a file ending in  .md5sum.txt  but there shouldn't be anything else)

If you open the "maps" folder then you'll see only two  folders - one called "00" and one called  "EEC"

That's probably about as far as you need to go.

Just a word about doing this upgrade with a Mac onto the sd-card from an Amundsen stereo. You have to copy the new maps to the skoda supplied sd-card,  this is because the Amundsen has been paired to

  • If you have 2 SD Cards slots and an SD Card in both make sure you use the correct Card and don't delete your music in error. It doesn't matter which slot you put the updated map info Card into.

  • An update to this topic. I just successfully updated my satnav data from the Skoda website - no problems at all.   I have an Amundsen satnav, with 16GB SD Card (14.8 GB actually !) and I'm u

Thanks BOD20 Regrettably, I wiped the SD card in readiness for the update, but didn't create a backup first.......every day's a school day!

Download link for current Amundsen MIB2 satnav data in standard Windows "zip" format (not "7z")

   http://infotainment-cdn.skoda-auto.com/base/maps/STD2_1030_EU1_201819.zip

This is a big file - almost 13 GBytes in size.

1.    Download the latest map data from the link above  (note that this may take an hour or more to complete, depending on your broadband speed)

2.    Unzip (right-click on file and select "Extract All" ) the downloaded file to a new folder on your PC. This may take 15-30 minutes. After unzipping the folder should contain a “maps” folder and a TXT document with “md5sum.txt” in the filename.

3.    Connect the SD card to the computer

4.    Slide the small lock tab on the SD card to the “unlock” position to enable writing to the card

5.    On the PC, right-click the SD card icon and select “Format”

6.    Format the card using “FAT32” and the default “4096 bytes” allocation unit size

7.    Now copy the new satnav data from the folder at Step 2 (i.e. copy the “maps” folder and the “md5sum.txt” file) to the newly formatted SD card. This can take another 20-30 minutes to complete.

8.    Once complete, when you open the SD card on the PC you should see only a “maps” folder and the “……md5sum.txt” file.

9.  Remove the SD card from the PC and slide the lock tab to lock the card.

10.  Put the SD card back into the Amundsen unit and switch on.

You don't need to do anything on the Satnav itself. It will start up then load the new data automatically from the SD Card.

Thanks again BOD20 I managed to get a copy of my neighbour's SEAT SD card, so I can now use that as a back up.

I'm going to start again from scratch, so your instructions will help greatly. I need to update the maps for the new Aberdeen Western Peripheral Road (AWPR) for when it eventually opens - assuming they are on the latest update.

Last download took about 72 hours!

Dear all thanks for your marks here. I own a Scoda Yeti and when i try to get the latest updates from https://updateportal.skoda-auto.com/

i get the report:

Maps We're sorry, but the navigation device on your vehicle does not support online updates from websites. It is necessary to order an SD card with updated map data via ŠKODA Genuine Accessories.

Can you suggest a solution?

I need Greece maps.

Thanks in advance

Hi Kostasx

It sounds like the navigation unit wasn’t supplied as ‘factory fitted’, so you cannot update the maps.

I’m not very sure how you’d get round this, other than ordering the SD card as suggested.

The problem is that in my country cannot find from where and what to order. Can you assist?

Can you post a pic of your actual Sat nav unit?

Well, it confirms you have to buy a new sd card. You have either an Amundsen (VW RNS310) or an Amundsen + (VW RNS315). Does your nav work without any sd card or cd in it, or do you need to have a maps disc or card installed?

I need to have sd card installed

Then you need an SD card for a VW RNS310 Which has your particular maps on for your country. Either East Europe or West Europe are the choices.

Do you have any link to purchase?

Greece map

eBay item 254050364777 is for East Europe. Best check it's what you need with the seller.

So the only way is to buy it?

I cannot make an SD bymyself ?

I don't know if it's possible because I haven't looked into it. I would think it may be possible, but it's not something you're going to do without some serious Google work and tech understanding.

I am thinking of downloading maps from a server and create an SD like the one I have. Is it so complicated? No one has ever done it before?

Can you provide a link from where to download Europe maps?

Maps are copyright material. If you want them for free you'll need to do something for yourself.

Ok thanks for all the help here. I will try to find and buy the correct SD.

Have just updated maps  following previous advice posted..

It apears to have gone ok ..checking version it has changed from

2016  to 2019/20

Does the unit have some internal memory as all my previous destinations are still stored ..

Hello everyone. :)

I have issue with my device, each time i start it i got message error: software update, and when i click ok, message disappear  and device is working fine except i cannot update my maps.

IMG-bc094d7c46cfa45da8f930bc6f7f021c-V.thumb.jpg.f43141bdefdec607f67018624584af4f.jpg

When i click details i get this message.

Issue is that this was done in Skoda service and car is still under warrant but they keep saying that i done this, which i didn't. In any case i'm still arguing with them but just want to get 2nd opinion. And yes, they cannot fix this, whatever they tried same keep happening. But pretty sure that they don't have clue what to do.

Also i'll attach other screenshots with software version.

Is there anything to be done? Like, is it possible to download latest software on computer and update it via usb/cd/etc?

I won't do anything until car is under warrant but just want to have some option's in case they don't do anything.

Sorry for long post and thanks in advance!

This thread is related to the Amundsen system, while your system is a Columbus system so different. Probably best starting a new thread with the correct title to avoid cluttering this thread and getting incorrect answers which will cause further confusion.

Sorry about that and thanks!

Might seem a silly question but after downloading your original copy of your maps to your pc you then need to wipe/format the SD card before you then download the new updates onto it?

No need to format or remove any data as it is overwritten with the same file format! it just updates with the latest data that Skoda has, Don't expect it to be right up to date though. as the data appears at least a year behind!

The maps are usually frozen at least 6 months before they are made available, BUT updates to the map data can take years to make it into the maps - I told Here about an error in the Audi maps on the A27 near Southampton which took them 5 YEARS to include into the maps :wall:
