Phone holders/mounts

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Does anyone have any solid recommendations for in car phone mounts/holders that work well with mk2 Fabia?

Looking at getting one because the cup holder is just a little too far away if I want to skip a song for music etc, plus with the Bluetooth connectivity, it'd be nice to be able to view the screen more easily. Also gives me the option of using phone as a sat-nav if needs be. It also doesn't necessarily need to be a charging mount, but if it is and it isn't overly expensive then great. Phone is a Sony Xperia Z3 Compact (magnetic charging port doesn't work however).

I've seen a few here and there that look good, but with things like this I find user reviews much more informative.

Any personal recommendations/experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Can never go wrong with a brodit clip. Little more expensive than the universal ones but designed to fit each model of phone and has never let me down. Just ordered a new one for mine as I've changed phones and now have a galaxy S7. They come in two parts, the mounting bracket and then the cradle screws to it so should you change phones the mounting plate stays and just change the cradle to suit your phone

I have a dual holder suction mount I bought from Maplin a couple of years ago, If I can remember the name I will post it.

It has two ~10" arms that can be moved and bent to suit, and takes a standard sized to large phone AND a medium sized tablet in adjustable holders, in either horizontal or vertical orientation.

I use an 8" tablet as a satnav and my 5.5" phone goes in the other holder.

I wish the makers did a dashcam mount, because the thing has NEVER fallen off the windscreen, unlike every dashcam mount I have ever had. (Dont forget to take it off for the MOT).

Another vote for Brodit - I've had a couple of car clips and a couple of different phone mounts over a few years (Clip for Fabia MK1 and the Octavia MK3 and holder for the iPhone 4 and 6+) and they've always been excellent if expensive.  I plan on getting the clip for our next car and moving the holder as I don't plan on replacing my 6+ any time soon.

I copied the Brodit idea in scrap wood and bits of food can.

The "clip" stays wedged around the air vents (corrugations from side of Tom soup tin). The phone holder with QI charger locates over three screws and stays there with magnets.

The "clip" part looks bloody horrible but I've not remembered to finish it better.

I bought a Nan Jia generic vent mount at the weekend and it does the job. For £7.99 I'm not expecting longevity.

Having recommended them I now can't find any reference to them on Google so it must be an, ahem, "boutique" brand. Definitely available in the phone accessory shop in the shopping arcade in Windsor.

Arkon car mounts. Brodit, overpriced and not good for the car's fascia.

Another vote for brodit however I do not think they have many options for the O3. If only they did a wireless charger mount for Samsung!

I had a Brodit in my Octavia and wasn't impressed. It didn't fit the contour of the dash properly so kept popping out. I now have a JML Grip Go, which for £5 is much better.
