I need your measurements!?

Featured Replies

Basically I have bought a fabia vrs that has been in a crash at some point and I am currently in the process of repairing the bodywork as they just threw a new wing on and used the car.

The suspension and things have been replaced before my purchase but I can't help but notice that the the driver side front wheel (where the damage occurred) sits further back in the arch than the passenger side. Does yours?..

I measured the driver side and passenger side - from the centre of the rear wheel to the centre of the front wheel and of course the driver side is siting further back than the passenger side. (Can't remember the measurements)

Could you possibly take 5 minutes to help me out and measure yours from the centre of the rear wheel to centre of the front on both sides?

*Ideally a non-lowered fabia on standard wheels for the fairest results*. If it's lowered please state so I know!

Also what would you suggest would be causing the wheel to sit back like this as the suspension components on that side have been changed before I purchased the car.

Lastly - is there any camber adjustment on these? I think I may have some slight camber on that wheel also (But his this is not get confirmed to be true I may just be paranoid)

*MUCHLY* Appreciated if you do this for me as I don't have anyone near me with one of these cars to measure up on!

THANKS!!IMG_4237.thumb.JPG.86e73ea8158e89ff82e337d8239c927d.JPG

mine had this and I thought it was the wishbone bent. Turned out a garage had fitted a rh ball joint to the lh side. They have a different offset so made one wheel sit further back in the arch. I would suggest you jack it up and have a good look over the wishbone and ball joint area.

2470mm on non-vRS Fabia and Polo 9N.  Just measured both (expecting the same answer).

If the console on the damaged side has been removed and replaced in a different position, that could affect the position of the wheel front to back and the camber.

There's a fair amount of adjustment available in/out and fore and aft, M12 bolts through 17mm clearance holes, I seem to remember, on the main console to body bolts.
