The chip is harder to trace, as you take it out before going in service. The remap however is found immediately and it voids the warranty.

ABT Sportsline is the only official tuner recognized by VW that does not invalidate the warranty, and they provide a separate ECU (so not a simple chip which alters 2 or maximum 3 sensors). However, i asked them about the 1.5 Tsi and was told they have no plans for developing a software for this engine.

I would have taken this route not for the kangaroo issue but for the increased performance.

Morning,

I'm back from France since the update and 1400 miles later and still no loss of power. Possibly so mild juddering in 1st gear. Not sure if engines still need to be run in these days but MPG seems better as well (I appreciate cruising of French motorways is better for MPG but still seems better). Car has done around 4500 miles now.

Had the update done 10 days ago by Motorline Skoda Dartford. So far the 2nd gear throttle issue seems to have been resolved, although I'm still learning to stop compensating for it, so time will tell.

There is much less kangarooing, but still a slight tendency for it mainly when starting from cold.

@Abu   The high price in some countries is for the warranty. Double the price of something the same that VW do not approve of.

In the UK that warranty is Void with the tuning box or as you call it chip or Remaps.

It hardly matters if they can be removed as you need to declare with your insurance because if in an accident you are not going to be removing it before the car is recovered, possibly the same as if your engine goes bang on a motorway, what is under the bonnet might well still be there as the car is recovered to a Main Dealers.

Yesterday, in a square in town, the local SEAT dealer had set out a display of their new models.  I was attracted by a beautiful, new, blue Ateca - a similar colour to my Karoq ......... the window sticker informed me that it was a 1.5tsi manual.

What I am struggling to get my head round is if the 1.5 problems have been fixed for new vehicles ........ or, are cars still being sold with the dodgy engine??

So had the update earlier this afternoon, initial view is it seems to have finally sorted it. From tick over in first and second you can put your foot down and it responds as you would expect it to. 40 miles done in town driving and fingers crossed I now have the car I expected to have. Any negative or positive feedback to be sent after a few more days.

At the moment it would seem that the MY2020 UK 1.5TSI EVO manual is not an option for some reason or other :wondering:

Maybe not for the Karoq, but the 1.5tsi manual seems to be available if you configure an Ateca on SEAT's website.

What IS going on??? 😧 Oh for some investigative journalism.

Today in the General Automotive Section.

An 8 week old Audi Q3.

Vorsprung Durch Technik. No chance.

From what date was your last update?

It was update for this table or earlier?

It has been very quiet with regards to the latest software update. Are people still waiting to book their cars in? Has it been totally successful, or has everyone been told to do the 600 miles? Which legal said the 600 miles is not a reasonable amount of time.

I have been told by my skoda dealer "It has been concluded by Skoda UK that your Karoq 1.5 TSi is not presenting any identifiable fault & that the symptoms you have described are characteristic of the design of engine in combination with certain driving styles."  I don't know how, they haven't even seen my car yet.

So the software update they are telling me to have for my roo, stalling and not going anywhere in 2nd gear "will enhance the driving experience of your engine". But according to them, my car doesn't have a fault??????

After 500km after last update, I called the dealer today to say that the update is not working and I am very angry.

To which the man told me the same thing: “the car is working perfect... characteristics ... specifics ... driving styles”.

Although the same person with me could not cope with my car while driving. I don’t understand how his tongue turns after this to say the same?! 😡

Mine is booked in next Wednesday for the update, so we will see how it goes.

On a note any one had problems with Beadles of Maidstone with none communication?

Hi so just reporting back now done 300 miles since second update the car is running perfect. The initial hunting as you started up had gone and it’s smooth at 1k until choke is of. The pick up and set off is perfect. Not missed a beat, no stalling and no hesitation when setting off. thankfully I am one of the fortunate ones. DM keith Grimsby have been excellent  in Association with Skoda uk.

What MY is your car Andy?

@AndyKaroq is your car a manual?

Hi my car is a 68 plate but MY19 is what Skoda uk told me. Yes it’s a manual but I did notice when at the dealership they has lot of 1.5 TSI DSG Karoq,s in for sale.

i don’t have the software name they installed just happy it’s working

Is yours an MY18?

One other thing which I am finding intriguing is that originally  it was returning 35-38 mpg after 1st update 38-41 now after 2nd update is returning 43-47mpg you would have thought if increasing fuel input it would have gone down. These figures are for the same day to day running.

HI,

interesting you say that. I posted that about a week back, since my update powerloss has gone and my mpg has gone up. I got 46mpg in France doing 85ish with 5 people fully loaded. Apparently I'm getting a call for 2nd update to sort kangaroo.

Now home i'm still getting 42-45mpg

150 mile update.

Engine dying when moving off is much improved but not totally cured.

Moving off uphill yesterday and engine died dramatically. First time it’s done that since the update. I’m making a conscious effort to keep the revs at about 1200-1500 to assess the update. Before the software update,  I’d modified my driving style to keep the revs above 2K when moving off.

I agree with an earlier post in that I’ve noticed an improvement in fuel consumption on my regular commute. 37-38 before the update, 41-42 since over exactly the same journey. 450 miles  to go to see if it really has done the trick.

We need to let Skoda know if it’s not working for some people. They will

continue thinking it’s ok if we don’t.

Yes, Octavia my18 man.

So we might say that update works for MY19 but not MY18
