Does anyone know which factory/factories produce the 1.5 TSI engine and has the production now ceased?

 

If production has now ceased then will this engine drop out of the VW/Seat/Skoda/Audi overall company CO2 emissions figures and therefore perhaps the problem can be solved by new version(s) of the ECU software which puts more fuel in at the 'problem' times and thus a stronger mixer and VW group don't have to worry about the CO2 figures?

I’m so happy I managed to get a rejection, what an absolute farce the whole thing is. 

Reading the recent posts I am so pleased that my rejection was accepted and processed so well by Skoda UK, VWFS and Carrs Skoda and my Karoq 2.0 4x4 is great. But the silence of the motoring press leaves me cold and my trust of the 'free press' has been destroyed.

During a period while my 1.5 was back at the dealer's, I borrowed a 2L diesel Scout 4x4 and thought it a very nice car. The diesel was very smooth but I didn't think that I covered enough miles to warrant a diesel.

 

As for the silence of the press a) They are afraid of losing advertising revenue if they tell the whole truth; b) Most of the hacks are freelance and they know they won't get another chance or, indeed, another free 6-month test car if they criticise the vehicle in any way.

Makes you wonder what the point is of the motoring press if they can't be relied upon to provide honest unbiaised tests and reports.

 

Dieselgate and now the 1.5 TSI just shows where their allegiances lie and it isn't with the folks buying their magazines etc. Understandable, but a very poor show and is doing them a lot of damage as well.

1.5 TSI is still produced in Audi Hungary (Győr) Factory.

My 2019 1.5tsi manual Superb is doing this. Kangeroos in 1st/2nd gear and loses power when pulling away. Only had since 1st May. Been to the dealer twice who have said Skoda know there's an issue and asked them not to alter anything. Great car and no complaints other than that......surprised there hasn't been an accident pulling out at junctions or roundabouts. I noticed when clutch reaches biting point and accelerator goes down the rev counter isn't showing an increase

Protect your consumer rights by making sure you have put the fault in writing to your dealer and to Skoda UK and obtained a case/complaint reference from Skoda UK’s customer services. If you decide later on to reject the car, this will put you in a stronger position.

Thanks for that......Mine is a company car so I'm pursuing via fleet dept at the moment. I think I'll still write to them though as it's on a 4 year lease and I'm still paying for it with tax and PUC......starting to think I should have got the 2.0 diesel. Don't  see more than 40mpg driving carefully.

I assume I can still reject the car for reliability and safety even though I don't own it.

Once again it’s the manual gearbox and 1.5tsi combination that is problematic.

Whilst there are cases of DSG 1.5tsi issues they appear few and far between in comparison.

I'm in the same boat, mine is via Lex and unless they choose to reject it there isn't much I can do, still in a hire car since Feb now! (Skoda UK paid for to be fair)

 

Lex only in the past few weeks stopped the 'characteristic line' even though Skoda UK had taken the car off the road as long back as Feb.

 

They are awaiting to hear back from Skoda is their current official line, I'll not hold my breath....... Lex don't want to upset Skoda it seems!

 

It must be costing them a small fortune to put me in a 2.0 TSI 4wd Tiguan hire car , what is their long term plan I wonder? leave me in a hire car for the next 2 years and 1 month (remaining lease) then palm the car off via the auction (where all the collected Lex cars seem to go)

No doubt you will point out that they are taking a risk in continuing to have you drive a car that has now been admitted to having issues by the manufacturer which has safety implications and they could be held partly accountable if the worse happens. Skoda UK obviously recognise this where they have put folks in rental cars.

It's good that at least someone writes about it 😥

My Fleet/lease company have deemed it unsafe to drive after it stopped pulling out of a junction again on Tuesday and today dropped me off a 2 week hire car......Ford Focus seems nice, but no going to be big enough for the 5 of us to drive to France for 2 weeks and the Mrs can't drive it.  I will be pushing Skoda for a like for like.....

Fleet have said its approx. 1 in 100 that suffers and Skoda are aware. A software upgrade has been developed but hasn't sorted all of them. Different to the local dealer.

 

Frustrating as can't fault the Superb for any other reason......but then unsafe after 3000 miles is quite a key issue haha

Is your car equipped with the DSG gearbox because they seem to have the stalling issue? Thanks Shy.

Nope, mine is a manual. As the accelerator goes down the revs don't go up, normally catch it as it hits biting point just before is stalls......but still end up poking your nose out at a junction or roundabout

Strange because wife drives Karoq 1.5TSi manual and in 1st the revs drop as you try to pull away but doesn't actually stall. It's now done over 17,000 miles but I wouldn't describe it as dangerous you just have to adapt your driving style and drive round the issue. Think we will trade it in after the first 2 free services which is a shame because it is very nice to drive between 2nd and 6th gear and very economical for a vehicle of it's type (best of 63mpg) and long term showing 48.5mpg on maxidot.

Yeah,  I've reduced the issue by changing style, which is basically puling away on 2k revs or more, but now becoming more frequent 2-3 times a week we get complete power loss. It recognises pulling away so releases the auto brake. It kangeroos in 2nd gear but only going up from 1st. 3rd to 2nd is fine. Once driving its the smooth car I test drove. The same spec car was perfect on a 4 day test before I ordered this.

Fleet/lease companies won't take any chances especially as I've reported it through the company near miss site. I need to log it in case of an accidents etc. At least it isn't mine I suppose.

Yeah we use the 2,000revs and let the clutch out method makes us seem like we are deaf or a novice driver at the traffic lights and obviously some concern for the longevity of the clutch.

Yep,  over rev and ride the clutch and then kangaroo down the road. My neighbours think I'm ace haha
