You are now in the 2-6 month period, where you can still reject, and the law is still on your side in creating a presumption that the fault was there from new. There is another issue which you now seem to have arrived at.  What you have to do in this 2-6 month period, which is not relevant in the up-to-one-month period, is give the dealer one chance to fix the fault. Tell the dealer you will take the car in and allow them to apply the update, otherwise the law will support them. 

 

If this fixes the car, well and good. If not, then the dealer has had his chance and you are entitled to reject. 

 

The above is a layman's interpretation of UK law and I assume you are putting everything in writing. Best of luck.

I have been looking at various forums and websites about rejecting a car. Once the update is done & if there are still faults, does the dealer then have to do a lot more testing on the vehicle, or is it a fairly what should be a straight forward process?

I do put things in writing, the Manager at the dealership though was unwilling, he said he felt as though he was being set up and I was gathering evidence to reject the car.

I'm guessing that the number of rejections being requested have led to a hard line change in attitude from the top in Skoda UK. So much for 1%.

 

Other marques, different managers in charge, plus maybe owners not as informed as Briskodians. Audi's may rarely dip below 50mph, or use 2nd gear so may not notice the hiccups......

Also check the consumer rights act, quote that when you ring.

The law says they get the one opportunity.  After that, if there is still a fault, you are entitled to reject. (Of course, if your dealer is inclined against the concept of rejection, you may end up having a bit of a battle over whether the fault has been resolved or not, so you may need to demonstrate it to them and take their senior technician for a spin. This would be reasonable, otherwise buyers could reject cars just because they had changed their mind!)

 

Your manager has to learn not to take things personally! For Skoda, this is a drop in the ocean. For your dealer, it's probably a drop in a large lake.

 

I can't understand that attitude - of *course* you're trying to gather evidence to reject the car! Ultimately, whatever the law says, there's often some need for managing relationships and using persuasive skills too!

Had a letter back from VWFS, because i withdrew from the agreement to repay, they say they are not responsible for the quality of the car and are unable to investigate my concerns and unable to uphold complaint.

"withdrew" presumably means that you paid it off (redeemed it early) or exercised your right to cancel rather than that you breached the contract with VWFS in some way?

 

If so, VWFS are right; you no longer have a contractual relationship with VWFS  and so your claim/action will be against the dealer. 

I found on another forum that VW have apparently said the tech remedy in place for the roo is chassis specific  & not to a particular model year. Does anyone know if this is the case with Skoda models too & can they tell if you car is affected without seeing it as VW owners have said?

I'm 250 miles in since my update a week ago and so far so good. No power loss, possibly some slight juddering but only at low speeds in 2nd where revs are low. I've been pulling away in lower revs as well to see if it will stop and still nothing.

 

Apparently it was a new update so this may be filtering down.......fingers crossed

Well l've had both updates for kangaroo, stalling & being reluctant in 2nd and still have the same problems this after  3000 miles. This is all being dealt with by Skoda UK , this morning took it back to the Skoda dealer ship  to have a diagnostic check done only to be told there is no change and need to wait for the next soft ware update to be rolled out. Had the car since the end of January  after exchanging my Yeti (wish we had never done it now) which was a lovey car to drive, this one however is a night mare your always on tender hooks worrying about if its going to stall. We got the car on a PCB deal and will be looking to get it exchanged if the next update falls flat if we can get our deposit back we will be looking else where for another car Skoda have let us down, we were sold a car that had known faults with the engine which could cause a safety issue.    

My update was 29th July and so far a lot better

Following your vehicles' recent updates did you receive any paperwork with any details regarding the updates i.e. ref numbers or TPI numbers?

I know when I asked for a TPI number following the hesitation update my Karoq had at the end of April I was told it wasn't availabe and neither was a ref number for the update.

 

Hi no paper work forthcoming even though l asked for a copy of the results of the checks done today, Skoda don't give out results as it may be commercially sensitive. So will wait for Paul from UK Skoda to get InTouch again to see where l stand. At present don't hold out much hope.

How do we know the cars are actually getting an update if they can’t prove it?

So they've had two chances to fix the issue, and have not been successful.

 

Time to initiate the rejection process.

 

Regardless of the rhetoric the dealer or Skoda UK spout out (it's deliberate diversionary / delaying tactics), ignore it and send the letter.

Auto Express ran a Skoda Octavia 1.5 tsi SEL in a group test today and seemed happy with the engine/gearbox.

Ducked, as you bought on PCP you must send your intention and reasons to reject to PCP Finance company. They are the ones that have to officially reject the car. You do not need to communicate with the dealer or with Skoda UK, they are only a distraction. Your contract is solely with the Finance company.

Thanks for the reply, we put quite a big deposit down so where a bit worried that we will end up losing it, fed up with it all to be honest.

We were exactly the same. Rejection within 30 days you get full refund. After that they can make a deduction for wear and tear but this can only be by a reasonable amount ( you can go to financial omdudsman if excessive). You should get most of what you have paid back. We rejected within 30 days and got full refund of everything we had paid, however, we did lose monies on the value of the car we part exchanged... They only refunded the value that they had given us but as is usual with part exchanges the car was actually worth more. But to be honest we just wanted out of the contract and to get rid of the Karoq.

I have now done approx. 500miles since update and still all good......driving to South of France wed so will be sticking a good 1000 or so on.

 

On that note anyone know if the Superb estate has head light adjustment lever for halogen headlights?

Has anyone had the 2 software updates and still got the same problems.

Mine went back for a diagnostic check last week , the results were the same the receptionist showed me the paperwork and said as we expected there's no change to the fault.

I was speaking to the owner of a VW T-Roc 1.5TSI EVO MY19 this afternoon which suffered from the Kroo and hesitation issue since new but it had the update for hesitation applied and so far so good however the VW service manager said AFAHK that there was no update available/released to all from VW for the hopping issue as yet.

 

My Karoq goes into the nearest Skoda retailer for a diagnostic check over tomorrow so hopefully the gremilins that appeared after the hesitation update which have been absent recently won't reappear on the 75 mile trip to the nearest/local Skoda retailer good old Arnold C.

Thanks for that the kangaroo it's not so much of a problem although it is annoying, it's the hesitation that is more concerning some times the power is there, the next time you put your foot down and nothing.will wait until Skoda UK phone me and if the update is going the be a way of then it's time for another hire car.
