  • With the Columbus you can use whatever card you want - you're installing onto the HD, the maps aren't read from the card.

  • These updates are for the newer MIB style Columbus rather than the RNS-510 style fitting in your Superb.   You'll need a map update DVD, the latest is V16. A dealer will charge loads but the

  • Yep, it'll work fine in your unit. Can't see any reason why not.

Thanks @logiclee and @coolio2004  Downloaded and MIB1 Columbus currently updating.

i take it once it's downloaded, you just unzip it and put it on your sd card?

It depends on which system you have.

A Columbus IIRC you can use any SD card to update.

A Amundsen you have to use the SD card supplied to do the update.

I've tried using a bog standard SDXC card to apply map updates in my cars Amundsen system and it's not recognised, as there's a hidden partition or something on the Skoda one that makes the system recognise it.

mines a columbus system

usually I'd use the update program, have the files put on the sd card and then plug it back into the car.

For Columbus

Download the link, unzip either MIB1 or MIB2 folder to an SD card depending on your system.

Put SD card into slot 1 and select the upgrade option from the NAV menu.

I used the Skoda update portal the download size was only 7.25gb as opposed to MIB1 and MIB2 being 24.6gb why the difference in size?

When I had a look on the skoda page, it was 2018, not 2018/19.

Anyone worked out or found a link for the MIB1 Amundsen 2018/19 maps?

http://updateportal.skoda-auto.com/?appVIN=&appLanguage=en-GB

Enter VIN and it will show the relevant update.

I have Amundsen MIB 1 and updated a few weeks ago - the file is ‘2018’.

On the site it says the next map update is due out in August 2018.

According to @Rustynuts you can download the link in the original post and then unzip (extract) the MIB1 folder to the amundsen SD Card.

Not sure myself as I have a Columbus.

I've been running the 2018 update for many months already...

I know the portal says next update is in August, but since the 2018/19 updates are out for Columbus that usually means the updates for Amundsen are usually lurking somewhere on the Skoda servers.

The portal is notoriously rubbish and behind the times

I'm confused now, I have a MIB2 Amundsen and this is downloading now, is it going to work or is it only for the Columbus?

It seems we are all confused. :)

You're not the only one!

Here's the info so I'd guess that my Columbus shouldn't work but your MIB2 should. I'll stick with Android Auto for a while lol.

You have a Columbus? Then either MIB1 or MIB2 will work.

It’s downloading now and taking its time. I have the 2018 maps already if that helps. It won’t be ready to unzip until tomorrow anyway at this rate.

IF...

You enter your car's VIN into the update portal, it will only offer you the maps that are appropriate to your car.

IF...

You enter another Skoda vehicles (similar) VIN into the update portal, then it will offer the maps appropriate to that vehicles navigation system.

And for me it took me just about 35 mins to download & install the latest maps.

I have a 2016 vrs with Amundsen MIB2. Downloaded these files and copied MIB2 across to the skoda SD card and it isn't recognised.

The way the files are laid out is more akin to the MIB1 format and I'd be interested if anyone else has got it to work on an MIB2 Amundsen

A question for those more knowledgeable than I...

I'm down here in New Zealand, and there isn't/hasn't been a map update for us since at least 2014.

Skoda NZ don't want to know about it and point you in the direction of a 3rd party that can allegedly supply updated maps for $1200.

Is there anything anywhere, hidden away in the update portal's archives that would help me?
