What have you done to your Superb III today?

If there's one thing I want to change it's the Auto Stop-Start function, something I'm sure fitting a Stop-Start memory module will fix.

I've got the start-stop module fitted in mine - it's great.

No issues whatsoever.

Best part is that I can activate the start-stop feature at the touch of the button, as I've not disabled it.

Handy given the current price of fuel, even if it's only a little amount of fuel saved.

Wonder why it’s so annoying for some, to remember to disable stop/start with that thing… ermmmm…. what is it….. it’s on the tip of m…. YES, I remembered; it’s A SWITCH?!?

You don’t forget to turn a key or press a button to start it, so why is pressing the Stop/Start disable switch such a faff?

The stop start function is a feature designed by a marketing team, not an engineer. It might indeed save a few molecules of fuel, but the thermal cycling and wear on the starter system isn't worth it.

Today, I'm washing mine then off across mid Wales on holiday on a canal boat for the week, to be reminded why diesel power is so unpleasant!

It's a minor annoyance, whenever I get in the car I go through a routine of turning it off.  The memory module isn't all that expensive nor hard to do either so I am contemplating it. Though all it takes is that one time you forget to turn it off and your engine cuts off at the junction.

I saw a coworker with a VW Tiguan hire car trying to park it in a tight spot, the thing kept cutting off after every shunt due to the Auto Stop Start 'feature', you could see the poor guy wasn't experienced in reversing despite the all the sensors on the car.

Another car wash. Summer wheels back on, manual polish but got tired so pulled the dual action out to apply wax.

Even tyre gelled after the grief I got last time 😉

1 And all you need to do is tap the accelerator and it starts, missing all of one or two seconds and two passing cars and then to switch it off.

2 Hmmm, well fortunately for those like us with a DSG gearbox, as it says in the Manual, “For vehicles with automatic transmission there is no automatic engine shut-down when the system detects a manoeuvring action due to a large steering angle”.

You can slightly move the steering wheel too.

Or on cars with ACC, radar triggers the car in front moving off and starts the engine.

got it back with the light in on Thursday, only got around to some potatochop today. See attached :) looking forward to the drive home on Thursday next week.

Standard ones AFAIK, I have not changed them. Is about 2-3x brightness, as expected.

What a mission!  Well done!

What did you installed?

Neaten up all the other retrofits and install rear seat heating and 3 zone climate control.

You are, without doubt, a nutter! You know a couple of hot water bottles would’ve been a lot less hassle!😂

But huge respect for doing it AS; you have balls ‘o’ steel my friend! 👏

@ApertureS Awesome !😮

Yesterday I gave the old girl a good wash, applied some paint sealer.

This morning I left the house at 5.45am to head to Potters Bar to have a reversing camera fitted and also the traffic sign recognition enabled.

Great job by @ApertureS very fast and efficient.

Tomorrow I'll be getting all the bugs off the car 🤣🤣

This is all road-legal in the EU, the reference is only 45. With 35 from the original lights, we're at 80. 100 is the limit.

Is it connected to main beam only?

Yes.

.. and the light output is glorious. Wasn't dark until past 2200 but this is a huge improvement. Did try to take some pics but will do a better job when I've found a straight road and some darkness without lights this week.

Used it for the first time in 2 weeks, Gout in the big toe is bloody horrible, still can’t walk properly 😞

Feel for you mate.

Can’t believe my “new” car is now 6 years old and 80k miles! But anyway, yesterday I changed the DSG oil and filter again. A pretty straightforward job really, and I realised the filter can be accessed without having to remove anything from the engine bay. Also did the Haldex fluid and cleaned the pump filter gauze, which wasn’t so dirty this time. Ran the pump calibration.

You must be very flexible 😉. I didn't even try!
