What have you done to your Superb III today?

I just checked, the last service on my wife's EV was actually £130 & included a new rear wiper, body check (required for corrosion guarantee compliance), a pollen filter, update for sat nav (free) & a couple of other small items that I can't remember. Also a complimentary wash & vacuum was included which you generally don't get at independent garages. The £230 service was for my car last year. Basically an oil change & a few other bits.

EV servicing is generally cheaper than ICE cars because there are far less consumable items.

I'm not sure who would think or suggest EV's don't need servicing. They have a service book with mileage / yearly intervals just like any other car.  So far our experience with an EV (apart from a problem with the charging flap that was fixed under warranty) has been pretty good. Perfect as a local runabout 2nd car. However, the key to low EV ownership cost (apart from not buying new) is being able to charge it from home on a low overnight tariff. Without that we would have stuck with the petrol car we had previously.

Generally they seem to claim that in the main it's washer fluid, brake fluid and cabin filters and checking the condition of the tyres, which always seemed to my mind to be an over simplification of the status, but then, most are going by what Tesla suggest as a DIY list.

Find a local VAG specialist and use them.

I intend to do so.

Looking back on my digital service history, I've just discovered that the dealership forgot to add in one of my minor services carried out back in 2022. Had to talk to Skoda direct to get this corrected.
🙃

I may have just traded it for a 2022 1.5 TSI SE L Octavia manual Hatch.... similar miles (sub 11k) and similar colour.

Deposit paid (99 of the squids) online but fully refundable.  Much as I love the DSG when on the open road and the gear change is seamless most of the time I just can't get past the 'Its not proper driving' plus we're going to sell swmbo's car and the Superb is a little HUGE!

Am I correct in thinking the 1.5 TSI will be ACT as well?

It's true, I am deserting the Suberb fold and joining the Octavia owners.

We test drove the Octavia and was I very pleasantly surprised. Whist it is smaller on the road it didn't feel small inside,  I'm just under 6ft and a few pounds heavier than I should be but was very comfortable in it.

pACC radar and FL BCM 5Q0937084EC installed finally

Astonishing opinion.

Octavia does not have multilink suspension in the rear, which makes it very harsh and noisy.

That seems like a serious downgrade, also including how the whole interior is built (including materials).

But good luck with it! 😅

I can only speak as I find. I thought the Octavia was as comfortable if not a little more than the Superb from the drivers seat.

Certainly no noisier, albeit I only drove it for an extended test drive, Circa 130 miles.  If anything it drives in a more taut manner, probably due to the lesser size/weight. I'm not looking for vRS handling or Rolls Royce quiet. Motorway driving was relaxed, A roads including some pretty dodgy Welsh road surfaces controlled and confortable. Throttle response was better, and concidering the driving style employed (ex Service Engineer) fuel consumption was better.

Both cars are of a similar mileage, the Octavia slightly newer at just over 2 yrs old.

Horses for courses I guess, but I liked it.

I have driven a few Octavia's in the past and did even consider one getting one for a short time when I was struggling to find a suitable replacement for my old Superb as every Superb I looked at was falling short of my expectations, but even then even an equivalent L&K model could not hold a candle to the space or the all round comfort on offer from an L&K Superb. The extra throttle response you noticed was more likely down to the smaller car giving a greater sense of speed rather than actual speed. On paper a 1.5L TSI engine is actually 1.2 seconds slower 0-62mph in an Octavia compared with the same engine in a Superb.

Either way, I'm pleased that you are happy with your car, and that is the final yardstick at the end of the day.

Since I've done retrofit of VC, steering wheel and Columbus display. I changed ambient light, climate menus and main menu icons to new ones from MIB3

I recently took the plunge and bought a piggy back and a pedal box from DTUK. They absolutely transformed the car in the most aggressive settings. I always found that the pickup was somewhat sluggish, but with the "extra" power and adjustable pedal response, the car is a lot more fun to drive on the narrow b-roads around where I live.

mib2-toolbox allows you to update skin images in MIB, so you can put any image wherever you want

And the colour selection option?

For 30 colors selection you should have appropriate BCM. If you have it, you can find how to do that in forum search

120000km service done by myself this aftertnoon:

- Engine oil change + oil filter remplacement

- Air filter replacement

- Cabin filter replacement

- Front + rear wipers change

+ Air Quality Sensor replaced

DSG6 service planned for tomorrow morning + system information to reset

€248 for spare parts, without AQS.

finally got around to buying the Travall dog guard setup I've been meaning to get for months so we can split between luggage and room for the beagle in our life when we go away together (makes mental note the sand needs clearing out before anyone comments)

The Superb passed its MOT with a clean sheet of paper for its fifth year running under my ownership, nothing done to it apart form normal servicing.

Just need to wait for it to come back from the bodyshop for some body repairs and in the meantime I've been giving a 2022 BMW 5 series hybrid, it's certainly a big car and has that "go karting" handling but feels smaller on the inside, cabin leg space and boot space. No heated windscreen, no adjustable armrest and no adaptive cruise control on the model. The rear camera looks really high definition though.

DSG6 service + Service Reminder Information reset done.

BTW, I´ve feared for almost 2 hours I could not finish DSG service nor reset SRI. Indeed, when I was about to plug my VCDS to check DSG oil temperature I discovered I had forgotten my laptop battery charger at home (while on holiday by my parents 600km away from home). Went to 3 PC & Laptop stores. But no one had any compatible battery charger.

Fortunaly a small PC maintenance & repair shop 800 from parents home had one he could lend me! 😮‍💨

Saved!…

Do you have a photo of your Beagle in there please?

We had a Beagle from 1959 to 1969 that my parents bought from Pipewell Hunt Kennels in Northamptonshire.  I remember very well going to select the puppy they wanted, but it wasn't easy with so many excited little dogs all running around us.  He travelled all over the UK and Ireland with us, including the Fishguard-Rosslare ferry before it was roll on-roll off.  We had conventional saloons back then, so he sat on the back seat with my sister and I or in the front passenger footwell with my mother, all of us unrestrained of course, which seems very unsafe now.
