@zacko_O is this plug and play or is coding needed? Any pictures of how you fixed inside the tailgate?

Coding and custom dataset. Fixed what? Inside tailgate just 2 new wires for new buttons

New car enthusiasm 👍I've almost given up washing mine now until the spring. Can't drive anywhere without getting it filthy this time of year.

its hard to keep seeing a dirty car on the drive, ive washed them in the pouring rain before. neighbours must think I'm mad.

hopefully the mud guards will keep some of the dirt of.

In the winter, I take mine to a car wash centre and let them do it, once a month at least.

I was guilty of doing the same on a few occasions. After all the rain acts as a calcium free rinse!! I have mud flaps on mine but while they do make a difference they cannot prevent all the road debris from getting on the car.

Hand washes are what we have around here these days.

The price & quality of our local car washes are not great so I don't use them anymore.

Instead I bought a DI mains water filter which I attach to my pressure washer & snow foam gun. A quick blast with the snow foam, leave for a few minutes & then rinse with clean water from the pressure washer & leave it to dry naturally. It gets most of the winter grime off. For better results I do need to do a contact wash with mitts & shampoo but during winter this rarely gets done. Seriously thinking about getting some paint correction & ceramic coating done at some point to make cleaning easier.

Our local "hand" wash has some automated drive through soaping & cleaning thingy & want £25 for a small SUV & £20 for a car (inside & out clean + tyre shine). Too expensive for me & not a proper hand wash IMO.

I had Chips Away round a couple of weeks back to touch up a small stone chip and they tried to sell me ceramic coating for £250. After a bit of research I decided to do it myself. I used to be into all the clay bar and polishing stuff years ago but with kids and lack of time that went out the window. I still had a new Bit Hamber clay bar from years ago but discovered there's easier to use products now for claying the car.

Not had the weather to try it on the Superb yet though

And there's the problem for the DIY guy. If you have no covered space to do a proper job in any weather waiting for decent weather to do that type of work outside is a long time coming.

One of our local detailing guys has a industrial unit & charges £200 for an Protection Detail clean + £100 for a 1 year Ceramic coating. Removal of anything other than light swirls is extra & he probably needs to keep the car for a couple of days. Mine's got a few scratches that need looking at separately.

There are some mobile detail guys like Chips but I do wonder how effective those tents they put over the car are when the weather is not great.

I've been thinking about getting mine done for a while now but somehow other things always seem to take priority!!

£15 here for a pressure wash and soap suds, rinse and chamios dry, inside door jams, mirrors, windows get special treatments, wheels detailed and tyres get blacked. I do the inside myself when I get back home, if it's dry.

Crazy southern prices, it's £5 for a car, £8 for an SUV up north. I wouldn't take mine there though

I washed all the glass and reg plates before the MOT but as for the rest, it's harder to see the dent when it's dirty...

I wonder how it could have been a different result, considering how your Mk3 is looked at. 😁

Don't they comment on yer car and the things done to it? 😋

I do that as well, but I have taken up since a few years, whenever I need to make a longer run (especially out of town), when I get back, to drop to a nearby auto-wash, the one with the coins, and just pressure-wash with clean water the front and engine underside, the sills, inside the wheel wells and I just slap the nozzle underside wherever it goes and splash around. Yeah, I know is not a pro-wash, but I guess it is better than just leave the salty and whatever chemicals they use and water overnight .... I do this even if is late if I have time, it takes me 10min, or the day after .....

Nope, but when I returned to the car the heated seat and steering wheel were left on :D so id say it was put to good use

All that work to look after it and ive got a knocking brake pad problem - when i go forward to reverse and vice versa. The genuine brake pad is almost too loose in the carrier - may end up swapping them for aftermarket pads to see if it cures it.

I can't believe I'm offering advice to you, but maybe the problem would be corrected by cleaning corrosion off the caliper and greasing the edges of the pads?

My brakes caused problems simply because I wasn't using the car enough. The discs rusted and the pads couldn't release properly.

Technically not done to the car! Got the My Skoda App integrated with my Home assistant install. Now I can see all the information regarding the car much easier!

I’m running EBC yellow stuff pads with no issues if that helps. 👍🏻

No corrosion anywhere, in fact they only recently came back from the powder coaters and had the new pads fitted.

There is vertical movement in the holder of about 1.5mm which is enough to cause an awful knock.

Not ideal 😞

Wouldnt ever go near EBC pads again, had a set in my old polo and lost brakes when the friction material fell out as it unglued itself from the backing plate.

I am quite the fan of TRW, Ferrodo and pagid, never had issues with these :)
