What have you done to your Superb III today?

Rear pads changed. I’d had Ferodo DS2500 front and rear but developed a squeal from the rear which I suspect is because I don’t brake hard enough to keep them clean.

Heavy braking sessions would remove it but it would soon come back.

Basically, unless you’re driving hard, the rear brakes are a very heathy size compared to the front so the theory is that moving back to standard rear pads will clear it. Pads are Brembo OE spec, VCDS used, tools bought, bled them after, hoping job’s a goodun.

I need to do the discs and pads on mine. A job for after pay day!

Chucked a bucket of water over it. Three hours later this is the result.         Happy with that

If replacing as standard it shouldn't be too criminal costwise. I've had ATE Ceramic pads on and they are incredible for low dust characteristics - the wheels just did not get dirty for so much longer than normal pads. Basically, if it hadn't have happened in front of my eyes I wouldn't have believed it.

I’ll go for mid range price from euro car parts. Probably low end brembo or eicher.

I’ve got dark wheels anyway so I don’t worry too much about brake dust!

Although no biggy for that price if they only last half the time. Aside from the degree in engineering and windtunnel facilities needed to change a headlight bulb.

Don't go for Eicher they aren't very good, go for pagid much better than Eicher.

Brembo ok too I would guess?

I think front are ate but not sure if ceramic.

Brembo are good, go for the best ones you can afford, they should be able to tell you off the car reg.

Don't forget to bed them in, 500 miles of gentle braking, obviously if you need to emergency stop then do so 😊

There must be a point where you’re paying for name. Should a sweet spot of value vs performance! That’s why I tend to go middle of the range ish.

Middle of the range is a good option 👍🏻

Whoever invented the headlights on Superb 3 needs shooting.

Thought I’d give it a go without removing arch liner and have ended up with the bulb out but can’t get the new one in.

Now going to run to mates local garage and get it up on the ramp to get the bulbs changed.

Hoping driving with a bulb disconnected won’t do too much damage! Will keep the switch off.

Not sure how well It comes out in the photos but the bulbs are brilliant. Nice white colour, great projection and no dazzling. Not been flashed by anyone yet anyway. I don’t have many before pictures but the old bulbs were two different sorts so at least they’re a matched pair!

First pic is with the old bulbs. (Different road though)

nice ! i did mine by myself and it was painfull experience, i tried from the bottom by removing wheel and archliner but didnt help (maybe because im left handed?) but then i twisted my arm somehow and managed to do driver side from the top. Removal was not too bad, but clipping in the spring is tricky, you need to squeeze both ends at the same time. Pasanger side also from the top but was little bit easier

changed to LEDs and its been great for 3 years almost

My trouble was getting one bulb out and not being able to get the new one in!

I’ve had one flicker a few times before coming on and got a “bulb out” warning. I cleared the code and seems to be ok now. It’s the same side where the HID was flickering so I’m wondering if the ballast that side is on the way out. One to keep an eye on. At least the ballast can be changed much easier!

Ordered some more parts for dechrome today to go with the AliExpress badges. Found some on ebay with free delivery and much more reasonably priced than Kopacek, albeit not OEM parts, and supposedly the last in stock so I just had to order them!

Lower Grill Strip

Going to run with the vertical chrome stripes for now as per @JR RS.

Looking to get roof rails and window chrome wrapped gloss black, and possibly the roof panel. May get vertical lines in grill wrapped too if it doesn't look right.

Also ordered second hand drivers sunvisor to replace my one with a cracked mirror, and new Brembo rear discs and pads.

I reckon you’re leaving breadcrumbs as to where you’re leaving bodies on those roads 😂

🤫

My wife already thinks it’s strange enough that I talk to and meet up with strange men on the internet without that sort of rumour too!

Any idea how yours cracked? Mine is cracked too, happened some time over the past six months but no idea how.

Mine was cracked when I got the car. But I have subsequently made it worse and I’m guessing the same way as the previous owner

The seat memory module has failed. And in trying the solution of redoing the basic settings at the extremes of travel, the headrest pressed into the sun visor. If you do the process you have to open the visor right up and also lower the headrest.

Hah, thanks for letting me know how I inadvertently broke mine 😂

Just 3 days in to owning my old but gold (65 plate, 123,000miles) Superb having had a Fabia for the last 4 years.

Replaced number plates today as they were a bit faded. Looks much smarter now.

Also ordered a new DSG shift knob top as the chrome is peeling. And a start stop memory module. Both off Ali express.

Will install DSG selector switch at the same time as installing these when they arrive. Only seen the fault pop up once but not since, but will fit the switch anyway.

Future plans is a bumper protector from kopacek to cover up some damaged paintwork, and also need to refit my dashcam. Otherwise plan is the keep it as is, change fluids regularly and see how many miles I can put on her.

Well today I finished reading this thread through from page one to my first post. Not sure what I’ll do with my evenings now though!

Also makes me laugh as to how naive I was that I wouldn’t get bitten by the bug again and start spending on stuff for the car.

Realised that my nice chrome bumper protector doesn’t fit with the dechrome theme I’m going for so just ordered a black one. Let’s hope it comes off without taking too much paint with it!

Also, a bit off topic. But does anyone know what happened to @ApertureS ? He seemed to be a bit of a legend of this forum and a font of all knowledge but was last online July 2025. According to DVLA his car was sold (log book issued) not long before that. Hope he’s ok.

I've been wondering the same for a while now. Hope all is well.

I asked about him 9 months ago - got a sort of reply...........his knowledge is much missed.

I just realised. His last post was about moving house.

So that would be the last log book issue to change the address and hopefully not be the car sold. Let’s hope you’re right in that it’s just new house etc and life taking priority.

A good mid range price wise is Delphi - I have had new discs and pads all round from Delphi fitted last year and they have been very good both in performance and low brake dust. Would have again no problem

Thanks. I’ve got Brembo. Should be doing them this weekend hopefully.

I've just replaced my rear pads with those Brembo prime; seem smooth so far and no squealing from under-used DS2500 (although there wasn't much evidence of copperslip tbh so made up for that).
