What have you done to your Superb III today?

Yeah I was pleased with the price.

Price depends on the age of the car ans therefore what gas it uses. Mine was the older type R134a. Our kodiaq is the newer type R1234yf and that is £135.

Ah that makes me feel better then as our Kodiaq was the newer R1234YF.

After somewhat +/- 6 months of searching, finally got summer shoes for my swan ) Tyres are not what it should be, but will have to do for the time being )

I got my Superb A/C serviced when the car was last serviced as part of a £1,009 bill!!

AC service included fresh / replacement gas, UV dye compressor oil, new pipework O rings & pollen filter (£85+vat).

Rest of my bill was for the basic car service (£170+vat), front discs & pads (£260+vat) & 2 x ABS wheel sensors (£326.24+vat).

It's 10 years old now so some bigger bills incoming. Advisories on front lower suspension arm bushes, rear coil spring corrosion at common fracture point.

I'm thinking about replacing it, maybe with my first lease car. Don't know what I fancy as yet. Maybe an Elroq.

I’m maybe thinking of replacing mine at some point too, nothing wrong with it but found out the Hyundai Santa Fe has two proper AC vents in the boot (for passengers 6&7) which still work when the 3rd row seats folded down, so perfect for my dog to be chilling instead of boiling

Biggest problem now though is it’s not a great time to lease/pcp as prices are stupidly high

Yep. I'll probably hold off on a replacement for a while longer. We are using my wife's Kona EV more & more as it's so much cheaper to run & is easier to get in & out of with my worsening back issues. I've never been a fan of SUV's but they are much better for getting in & out of as you get older.

I’m not a massive fan either; however the Santa Fe looks massive but dimensionally only like 3cm longer and wider than my Superb estate. I think the boxyness makes it look bigger than it is

AliExpress delivery day today for a few more upgrades.

First off - battery clamp that I found was missing. Nice easy fit.

IMG_1833.jpeg

Black Sportline badges (not the best photo as it was getting dark)

IMG_1834.jpeg

Black mirror caps

IMG_1835.jpeg

Again a relatively easy fit. Although the glass takes quite a bit of force to remove. As @JR RS found, the Chinese copies have the middle fixing tab in the wrong place. But secure well using the two side catches.

Unfortunately the passenger side didn’t go so well….

I was shocked at the price of the auto dimming glass. £300+! So I shall squint into a £25 non dimming version in future.

Hopefully Thursday I will get a chance to fit the black roof rails to finish the look. I shall put the links to the parts used in my project thread.

Well ive only had the car since Saturday, so not done much as yet, just lil niggly things, checked fluids and changed Air & cabin filters, replaced the missing parcel shelf cord, put the dash cam in ( temporary cable till the hard wire kit is taken out of the Exeo) ordered an umbrella ( both were missing) and also one of the sun shields ( like an umbrella) which luckily fits into the hole in the drivers door panel for the umbrella, fitted a screen protector for the 9.2" screen, ran updates for the Head Unit / Nav system and also plugged in ( cant say fitted) a car play adaptor thing and ordered MORE lil bits and pieces that ive seen on other posts ,,, not goin to mention any names .... but you know who you are 🤣

I think there is only one umbrella by default, so only one missing :) The passenger side is for a snow brush(5E3096011) and I usually swap them when season come ❄️

Actually I learned with some disappointment that earlier cars had two umbrellas .... oh well.

Me? Only changed winters to summers like at the beginning of the month, this time I've the spacers correctly advised by fellas here. I think I took some photos.

My list of things "to do" is bigger than ever ...

@Binx1310 - sorry to hear about ur passenger wing mirror!!

As u've found out, they're definitely a lot of $$$ to replace.

Keep an eye out at wreckers for a replacement mirror.

p.s. car looks good 👍🏽

The trouble with wreckers now is they all see the prices achieved on eBay so there’s no bargains anymore.

Getting there finally. Got a few more fix up jobs and cosmetic thing to do. Then I’m deleting AliExpress app!

@Binx1310 "Getting there finally. Got a few more fix up jobs and cosmetic thing to do. Then I’m deleting AliExpress app!" 🙃🙂🤣

Your can go for a cheap version if you're in a hurry, but if you take your time you may find a used version on ebay. My father did so for his Octy3 few years ago, and saved roughly 60% compared to a brand new one. He found it in Latvia, if I remember well. Just note down the P/N at the back of your mirror to look for the right one. The "good news" is that you don't have BSD, which would make the bill even more "spicy"... 😉

Yes will replace with cheap For now and keep An eye out for a cheaper one. Was considering adding bsd but will probably add the one in the mirror cap.

New (non dimming) mirror glass installed this evening. It doesn’t have the clip for the dimming wiring plug so I had to tuck it away. Initially it fouled the swivel movement so had to very carefully take the glass off again and tuck it away a bit neater.

I also received the third attempt at buying a steering wheel with DSG. This time it was listed as for a karoq with part number 3V0419091AB. It is completely identical to my current wheel but with the addition of DSG paddles. No idea what makes it different from 3V0419091S and 3V0419091M as they look the same too. But those ones are listed as for a superb and tend to be significantly more expensive.

It came with the usual wreckers grime but 5 minutes with some autoglym leather cleaner and a damp cloth and it looks good as new. Silky smooth with a nice matt finish. What was described as a scuff on the wheel in the eBay listing turned out to be grime so that was a bonus.

The vehicle it came from had only done 38,000 miles so I’ve ended up with a steering wheel significantly newer and in better condition than my old one too!

The addition of some alloy DSG extension paddles completes the look. (Thanks again @JR RS for the link!) Will I use them? Probably not. Do I love them? Most definitely.

Haha. Bitten by the bug! You need to match your button type and spec (heated / not heated) and if you get it right it’s a 10 minute job to swap once you have the right one.

Yeah. Got there in the end.

I had the paddle extensions already so had to find a wheel to fit them onto eventually!

Penultimate Sportline-a-like upgrade.

8mm black trim strip added to the the lower door trim. OEM has a recess so would have had to change entire colour matched lower trim piece. Yet again @JR RS leads the way with adding an external trim strip to achieve the same look.

IMG_1943.jpeg

Just the roof rails to change now for the full black out of chrome.

Nice work @Binx1310

If u want to take it a step further - put black vinyl on the top half of the lower door trim bit - above the strip.

It will b more visible on a white car compared to grey.

Nah not for me. I like the look on yours though.

Well TECHNICALLY nothin is goin to get done on the Supurb today. as i need to get things done on the Exeo ( so i can park it up & get the Superb on the road) but while waiting for the laundry to finish,,, i did order a paint kit from Chipex, a reversing camera 2 usb rear units and cables ( thinking one in arm rest and one below rear heating controls) and a wiring pull kit , for reversing cam wiring and Nextbase rear cam installation.

i ran a scan yesterday with VCDS and cleared loads of old codes, i then replaced the 2 fobs batteries and ran another scan ( after 45 miles and letting it rest for 30 mins) and it only came back with 2 errors

1555 - Check Software Version Management

          B201A 00 [00001001]

0012 - Digital Radio Antenna

          B1103 11 [00001001] - Short to Ground

So not too bad, i'll get round to working out what the problems could be one evenining this week iv already updated the SW to the latest version, so must have missed a step somewhere

I had the aerial one and it went away again. If DAB works then it can be ignored.

Looks like you’ve missed the confirmation of update step.

Instructions can be found here: https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/514645-how-to-guide-for-mib-firmware-update/#comment-6003673h

Did you get the Ali express camera? Some I got in install at this post. https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/454623-what-have-you-done-to-your-superb-iii-today/page/195/#findComment-5986858

Just make sure you’re careful routing wires around airbags. Worst bit is through the boot and the rubber gaiter. A spray of wd40 inside the rubber helps.
