That's how it is, the 280 TSI have always had the shorter cover. I have one myself. And nothing has to be removed for an oil change.

Figured out why my cigi socket stopped working; only been a year or so... In the process found the old cigi usb adapter I thought I'd lost, plus a plastic five pound note; pays for the replacement adapter I'd ordered. Amazing what that glove box holds!

Not quite sure how a 20a fuse would of blown from a usb accessory.

Now to find an overpriced fuse and repeat the glovbox emptying, maybe I'll find a ten pound note, :)  pay for the fuse.

Get a circuit breaker fuse which will disconnect the circuit and you just click a little button on it to reset the circuit :)

It is likely that your phone charge lead has a fault and has shorted out internally and the fuse blew before a fire started. I had a charging lead left plugged in but not connected to a phone by one of my sons in the old car, and I could smell smoke before I could see it. Pulled over and investigated and discovered trapped between the seat and the centre console, before it could get hot enough to become a fire.

Never ever leave anything plugged in when not in use and certainly not when the car is unattended, it is just asking for trouble.

U sure about that?

Can u see/access ur oil pan from underneath, without removing the under tray?

As far as I know this only came with particular diesel models in the VWAG group got it.

The petrol models only got the short version, including the Golf R, which the Superb 280 uses the same engine/drivetrain.

....unless u have the Rough Road package which comes standard on the Scout and Alltrack models.

Just looked under the car and ignore me @JR RS please. I am, not to put too fine a point on it, talking utter bolucks my friend. I think my memory of the frustrations caused in installing the cable at the bottom of the engine must’ve addled my senile old brain even more than I thought!

There's been a recent spate of car thefts in the local villages so I've fitted one of these, hopefully, as a deterrent.  Even if they break in and steal the keys they're going to have to wrestle with removing it and putting it away into it's bag before they drive off :giggle:

And, as we all hopefully know, the cig lighters in most Skoda cars are permanently live so even more reason to unplug everything from them when locking & leaving the car unless you want a flat battery or worse.

Thanks for the tips.

The widget and cables are fine. Had the same phone for years. Plausible a cable may of gotten wet, water bottles in the west are not uncommon.

had a dash camera in during lockdown that killed the battery as it was meant to be a temporary thing. In one of those didn’t move the car in a month, months it killed it.

kind of a silly thing to have it permanently live. Or at least without a switch. There is a switch for most everything else :)

Snap, with the dash cam draining the battery during lockdown scenario. I now have it hardwired in to a piggyback fuse behind the glovebox that goes dead when the ignition is off. Only snag is, it also goes dead when the start stop activates so the dash cam is on / off with the engine while I'm driving. I need to find another fuse to piggy off that stays live when start stop activates.

Another job to add to the list.

However, my next job to do is to spruce up my rusty wheel hubs which can be seen through the spokes of the alloys & are starting annoy me immensely. It's not a good look on my newly black powder coated Trinity alloys. Do Audi wheel hubs go rusty?

Wheels off, wire wheel attachment on drill, elbow grease & spray paint satin black in situ without spraying the discs & anything else. Should do the job.

All good, no need to beat urself up over it.

I was just surprised to hear that a TSi would come fitted with the longer version!

Hence was trying to figure it out.

Must say, the downside to the longer version is that it needs to be removed each time an oil change is needed.

It comes off easily though.

Changed the plastic aero undertray to a longer version, which in theory should help with better airflow underneath the car.

Item #1 in the Reference image below.

Will b interesting to c wat it does to the engine temps, and fuel economy, if anything.

Comes with a fitting kit (screws & bolts).

No cutting, modifications, or special brackets required.

Remove old, and put in new.

Car needs to b on jacks up front, or up on a hoist.

Part No.: 5Q0825236Q (has now been superceded by 5Q0825236N)

Next I'm getting the centre exhaust tunnel cover too. Item# 2 in the Reference image below.

The Superb has the slim/short version of it already.

5Q0825229C is the longer version.

The rest of the under trays, minus #6a and #6b, my Superb already has from factory.

@JR RS, how about oil temps after installing longer cover under the engine? Have you noticed any difference up?

Yes, unfortunately, they do. I have the same on my wife´s Audi Q3 MY2015. Maybe a little less rusty than my own Superb Mk3.

Put a good smear of grease like Lubriplate, on the back and centre hub of the wheel and you’ll never have a problem getting them off again. I recall a week or so into my ownership, having to hit all four wheels from the rear with a heavy rubber mallet to remove them, as I wanted to clean the inside and rear rims properly. It was very frustrating and Gawd knows what I’d’ve done if I’d had a puncture during that first week!

That’s more or less what I do. Only the centering part of the wheels behind the wheel center caps, as explained in the workshop manual.

But I think @Colin170CR, the brake discs hubs that you directly see behind the wheels thru the spokes.🤔

Otherwise, I don’t see why he would intend to paint a hidden part…

Unless I misunderstood something… 🤔

Here's a pic of my front wheel. You can see the rust on the hub behind the wheel nuts. This is what i need to treat & paint. I've been meaning to do this for a while but to date haven't managed to get around to it.

Not that rusted, but same problem for me.

No increase in oil or water temps over short drives.

Haven't done a long drive yet....

Think it’s the same problem on all of ‘em for all owners. I don’t know if any treatment will put a permanent end to it.

Pretty sure a couple people here have painted the hub.

For sure some did paint the hub. I remember pics being posted on the forum.

Any tutorial to install a rear camera from aliexpress?

Good to know that. But I guess  it's winter time up there at yours. Realize it's not that cold and freezing as in central Europe but wonder what it'll be like during hot aussie summer.
