What have you done to your Superb III today?

Featured Replies

Beautiful day today, especially in the sun, so I washed it. First wash for months, though I took it to the Albanians a few times over the winter. The coat of Meguiar's Ultimate Qwik Detailer brought out the lustre, but I can see the car is gonna need a polish and wax as soon as the weather warms up. Gee, I wonder why all the swirl marks are there?

A close look at the car revealed a tiny new dent on the rear wheel arch that looks suspiciously like a supermarket trolley altercation, the scrape on the rear bumper is no worse, but touch up paint will not mask the damage and, finally, the next time I see a Dyson handheld vacuum cleaner on sale I'll make the investment. My five-year-old Dustbuster is useless.

We're off to Dundee tomorrow to visit the new V&A and HMS Discovery. Maybe some Dundee cake and a Scotch egg. And a pint of heavy. Looking forward to it – never been to Dundee, though I lived in Edinburgh for almost three years.

Collected it from the dealer!!!!!

(I'm a happy boy today)

I told the dealer to code the "Scandanavian DRL's" and they did it for me, prior to collection.

Yes that's what I thought. Had it on an Octavia back in 2013. Nice to see some colour other than Grey on a Superb.:)

Why the heck they're called Scandinavian but they are not on on a Swedish car and you have to activate them via VCDS?!

Good looking car! Enjoy!

Its velvet red which is an "exclusive" colour option that costs a staggering £975 extra.

When I  saw a new car in that colour at the dealer it looked flat , plain and basic , and certainly not worth the asking price.

Sorry to dissagree but it's not.

It was a "no cost option" flat colour..........I remember my boss ordering it, he skimped on the colour so he could add ventilated seats without pushing the cost up too much. It's the bog standard red.

You  need to get the spade out and jump in the hole you just dug.;)

It certainly looks like velvet red. In the UK the only basic colour available is that ghastly energy blue which is the same as poster blue that primary school kids paint with. Come to think of it velvet red looks like the poster red they use

The colour code can be found on the production code sticker located somewhere near the spare wheel well

Clearly see that Velvet is a darker shade which does look flat and dull in overcast conditions and only looks good in bright sunshine. Agreed not worth paying extra for.B)

And I'm not in Ireland

You can check the Irish colours here

The only red is "velvet red"

The Irish configurator lists it as a €1290 option!

It's Corrida Red.....according to the 2016 catalogue.

Wouldn't be my first choice................but it ain't coming out of my pocket!!!

Why couldn't they have put a USB in the glovebox or under the armrest.......so we could hide a bloody ipod!!!!

Your boss cheaped out on not just the colour probably. I have a USB under the arm-rest which is where I tuck away the phone very comfortably, a standard in Sweden.

Corrida red got discontinued sometime in 2017 but I agree it looks identical. Iirc corrida red was a flat colour option, halfway priced between the base pacific blue and the more expensive metallics.

So now I finished digging this hole I'm in, enjoy your new car, you'll get used to the colour, and maybe find people give way to you because they think you're on your way to tackle a fire (or perform a fire safety inspection) :hi:

I wonder can that be retrofitted??

No idea, till this afternoon I would have thought it's a standard on all versions/countries.

The two USB's in the picture above can be used as inputs to the media system (Android Auto etc), not simply be charged from the port like the rear ones (the rear ones are not standard - i know that!) so I'm guessing there's maybe some extra loom required for them to be fully functional? Maybe someone more knowledgeable on this can chip in.

yes it can be retrofitted.  it involves the following parts, and pulling ur centre conole apart.

- 5G003595D - USB HUB (3 way splitter) or 5G0035953C for 2 way splitter
- 3G0035643 - holder of the HUB
- 5G0035222E - USB/AUX Port Audio Input Socket Harness

it shows up on the infotainment as USB-2 or something, hence can be used as SmartLink too.

one day i plan on retrofitting it........

its not standard in many versions, or countries.

sadly not even an option in many.

sorry, i forgot one key part:-

- 5Q0035726 - USB port with AUX, which is inserted inside the centre console storage

numpties.

tis all from the internet - plenty of forums and dr.googles :)

indeed - a meetup in June/July would b great.  message me closer to the time - we can organise something then.

u usually can get away without snow chains at Corrin Forest - but tis best to check beforehand.

Just changed Haldex oil and cleaned strainer on pump, the car is under 13 months old with 14300 miles/23000 km. My wife and I use 50/50 of driving where she never knowingly used full throttle and I have never launched ( yet ) am not averse to the odd spirited pull away once moving but not by any means excessive. Whilst the oil still looked good for mileages I’m well pleased to have cleaned pump.

Isn't that debris indicative of a failed prop-shaft seal

I think it can only be clutch material, the seal is outside the shaft bearing and would not degrade for some time.
