What have you done to your Superb III today?

Granted the rim is 0.5” narrower but the tyre is wider and taller and more similar to the alloys and tyres I have

Only suggestion is to calculate the smaller width of the rim against the ET, to make sure you do not foul the calipers when fitted, specially the fronts.

Better test would be "live", but this requires other efforts as you can imagine 😄

Chucked a bucket of water over it. Three hours later this is the result.         Happy with that

I think somewhere in the Škoda manual, it says that you should always use the spare wheel on the rear for safety reasons. So even if you have a puncture on a front wheel, you should remove a regular rear wheel and put it on the front. Then put the spare wheel on the rear.

Yes this is what I would do. Other than if emergency situation at the side of a motorway etc.

Plan is to fit it to rear and test drive. Then do the same to front. Just to be sure of no major mechanical clashes in case it’s needed in emergency.

my 220 came with 19x8" ET44 235/40R19 from factory.

factory spare was 16x6.5" ET45 205/55R16 from factory. it's a full-size steel rim, not the crapy bicycle tyre!!

yes, i did get a TPMS warning whenever the spare tyre was on, which would in turn disable ACC and Front Assist.

i've had 3x punctures in the first couple of years of ownership.

super annoying.
hence why i got a full sized 19" tyre as a spare now.

original factory spare....

comparison between 16" spare and full size 19".......

with 19" spare in the boot....

Thanks. In that situation I suppose it’s annoying but understandable to have the warnings but easy to ignore.

I’m hoping the rolling diameter is not too different from current wheels that I don’t get the issue but if I do then so be it.

On another note, did the sound deadening of the boot floor make a big difference?

Just reset the TPMS through the settings menu after fitting the spare wheel, and with the very similar overall diameter you have it will be fine!

I still have a MK3 manual and I have been through it and there is no such warning in mine.

At that tyre width and sidewall of the standard spare, it’s 6% smaller circumference. On the tyre size I have it’s less than 0.5%. Granted the rim is 0.5” narrower but the tyre is wider and taller and more similar to the alloys and tyres I have. For the rare occasion it will be used for relatively short duration I’m sure it will be fine.

Looking at standard sizes pic on the internet, 16x6.5 (which was a standard option on poverty spec) with 215/60 tyre is 1% difference to 18x8 with 235/45 tyre.

Wheels from different models are likely to be down to offset for poke as much as anything. You can always have a play about on willtheyfit and see what suits and what the effect will be.

yes thats what i was looking on. looks like it will be very minimal issue, and as others have said (and the manual says actually, now that I have RTFM) you should reset the TPMS after fitting the spare.

Clean MOT with a grand total of 3103 miles since last test 😬

Put in a boot liner. Nothing fancy, but will contain the mud when picking up the kids from football!

IMG_0344.jpegJust a cheap one from Amazon.

You throw your kids in the boot?!

On a serious note, one great practicality thing are vent covers for the air con exhaust under the front seat. You can pick them up on Amazon. Stops losing stuff up there

Only when they’re muddy!

That’s a good tip. Got some off aliexpress for £3!

Picked up the car after getting all four wheels refurbished. After 10 years the phoenix anthracite alloys were showing the usual diamond cut issues, particularly around the hubs so I had them powder coated in silver instead. Ignore the wheel caps - I'm swapping those for new ones tomorrow.

Nice nod to MIB I see…although though wheels are Trinity. Nice work - pleased with them?

They were initially (2015-2018 ish) called "Phoenix".....later becoming "Trinity".

My car's a 2016 model and I still have the brochure - they were Phoenix when I specified them. TBH I ordered it a long time ago 😄

Yup, I'm very pleased. They've come out really well with no signs of any of the corrosion where the lacquer had been breached. The one wheel I'd kerbed (avoiding someone on the wrong side of the road) is impossible to identify.

That’s what I am wanting to do to mine, unless I find some Cepeus wheels cheap haha

Mine is a 2018 and they are Trinity on the spec list

Been looking at doing the same to the Trinity wheels on mine and wondered what they’d look like in full powder coat, great timing so a big thumbs up. You have the same spec and colour as my 280 estate and I think they look great. My thoughts were to go with a darker silver/grey or bronze but silver looks really bright and suits the colour

I happened to visit the place where I will get mine done and they do a black undercoat with silver which looks really good rather than the brighter silver

Oh bloody hell. How odd they changed the name. Cheers for the correction as ever haha

Got round to doing the Gear Knob swap with the Mk7 Golf/other VAG, added the alcantara to the gear knob and also gaiter which now matches my steering wheel.

Very happy with the result and can leave this area of the car alone now.

After doing the gear knob yesterday I saw how dirty the interior was so this morning after doing my wife’s Mini, I set to work on the inside of mine.
