Air Care won't activate

Featured Replies

Hello,

If I go to the menu on the climatronic system, select Air Care then try and tick Active, the Air Care system will not activate ... There is a message saying "Air Care Climatronic is deactivated" which remains.

Any idea how I can activate Air Care?

I've just been out in mine so I had a look  - I rarely get into the climatronic menu. Interestingly it is different on mine. I don't have an air care option at all, and where it is supposed to be I have a soft switch called "rear" (I guess because I have the three-zone climate set-up). But looking in the manual it says the air care will only work if all windows and doors are closed. Did you have anything open at the time?

Nope I double checked, all windows and doors were definitely closed.

I must check mine - what on earth is 'Air Care'? Never heard of it!

Looks from the manual as if it is recirculation by a different name.

It's not re-circulation, that works.

Perhaps it's a new feature, mine is a new Superb.

I only get these 4 scenarios with my aircare

seems like if it was an issue with the windows etc being open it would show you the same message in the pic below

probably just something that a dealer will need to look at

It was introduced on MY18 cars @BriskodaJeff

My first Sportline didn’t have it, my current one does.

Someone on the Octavia 3 forum reported a similar issue earlier this week.

Just wondering...is this drive mode dependent; e.g, it won’t work in eco mode ???

Answering my own question..No it isn't.  With air-care enabled on my car this morning, a change from Sport > Eco mode didn't disable it.  Nor did cycling A/C on/off.

My air care is working now. Dealer fixed it under warranty. I'm not sure what was involved but before I went in they allocated four hours work for it including removal of dashboard.

  • 3 years later...

I "enabled" Air Care on my Superb, however it won't "activate" despite meeting the required conditions to operate.

Anyone have any ideas why it's not working?

I wonder if it's because of the cabin filter currently in the car.

There r 3 types - Normal, Coal, and anti-allergenic versions.

Any help would b appreciated.

Coding done..."Filtering of interior compartment air" changed to installed.

Air Care now shows on Climatronic..

Unfortunately ticking the Active option does nothing....

This is the issue I am facing, noticed that the Air Care is not activating when pressing the button when in the infotainment screen, also when pressing recirculating the A/C briefly flashes and then nothing.

Anyone get this resolved with out going to the dealer, will dig out car scanner shortly, I assume this works with the new unit you installed @JR RS

Sadly it still doesn't work even after performing the MIB2.5 upgrade.

I gave up trying to get it working.

I think it also requires a different air filter type, something carbon activated, which the sensors detect and knows to activate AirCare.

I believe air care uses the recirculation flap. I wonder if it’s because you have a current fault code for the flap It prevents you enabling it @tombee

In the interests of science, I tested this today while changing my carbon activated filter.

Air Care will activate and set with no filter present in the car at all. It also runs with a standard pollen filter, as I have one that was supplied incorrectly and I was told to keep it while they sent out the correct filter that was ordered.

I’d say a fault is likely due to whatever mixer flap they use to isolate the system through the pollen filter while the setting is activated. Never had to look into it, so that’s just a best guess scenario.

Thanks for confirming that @UndertheRadar

I don't have any associated errors or warnings associated to the HVAC, and my recirculate air works when I press the button on the climatronics panel.

Perhaps I should do another Climatronic Recalibration process again, see if that makes any difference.

Maybe try the coding here near the end of the thread kindly posted by SasahGrace, although the coding is to have it on permanently - worth a try?

So I did the Climatronics Flaps/Actuator Recalibration thingy, this time via OBDeleven - sadly same no difference.

Air Care still deactivated ☹️

There must b something preventing it.

Interestingly, this time it has a message saying it's deactivated.

Previously there was no message at all.

Do you have the oh-so-reliable air quality sensor under the scuttle panel?

Or is there a long-coding option to tick to state that the associated hardware is there?

Climate control unit min software 1401 then coding byte 15 bit 5 active and change the adaptation channel "IDE12229-Interior air filtering: save" to "active".

You have To Set Activ in the Top of the Picture

When it was Activ and Car shut down, After 10 min System Set it Automatic To Off. Same System like Seat heating

Yup, I've replaced that many many years ago - no more AQS error.

I believe I have, based on my replies above, 3 yrs ago.

@Cairus - software version is 4101. See below.

Clicking the "Active" button checkbox does nothing, it won't activate.

The issue is not saving the Active state, rather it won't activate at all.

I'll check my Byte 15 Bit 5....

I think my suspicions r true that pre-MY18 models don't have the HVAC hardware for Air Care.

AirCare is purely a software solution. I've already retrofitted it in other vehicles simply by updating the control unit 08. I even did it myself in my 2017 Seat Leon MQB Classic.

Which gateway you have?
