I already placed my order, but the build week is 24, which I believe is early June......I hope I can still make configuration changes...

 

In any case, I didn't spec for the 150GBP heated steering wheel, but reading some people's comments that it really makes a difference heating up the generic car space rather than just your hands (which for me seems a bit pointless).

 

Anyone have any comments on whether it really makes that much of a difference?

Yes. You may have a limited window of time to change your configuration. I did - I successfully changed my cars colour from candy white to Business Grey, after seeing it in the flesh.

 

Personally, I rate the heated steering wheel very highly. Depending on which country you are in! In the UK, I have used the heated steering wheel (3 heat settings) frequently, its linked to the heated seats, coming on when the seat is switched on. I must use it at least 6 months of the year.

IMO it's brilliant. If your hands are warm , you feel warm. Don't know how that works.

I also used the heating of the steering wheel a lot. It's ON from November till late March.

Agreed, I use it far more than I thought and it really is great

Personally I would Looooove a heated steering wheel, but @kerbero5 if it seems pointless to you, ie you don't get cold hands then don't bother?

 

The point is for folk that do get cold hands, or don't want cold hands.

Have they improved any? they used to only work at the quarter to three position.

To be honest the actual cold hands part doesn't bother me, but I was reading around some people saying that it actually heats up the "cabin" much quicker than just the regular climate control. I'm not sure if anyone here can attest to that, or if it doesn't make too much difference

It does help but the whole system together is really effective and warms up very fast

It is lovely to have but I wouldn't have said it was hot enough to help heat the car.  It's well worth getting as it is so nice on a cold day!

^^^I agree, I cannot believe it would get hot enough to feel any heat without actually touching it. It's only gonna be warm, not hot, surely.

Yes, it's worth the money, but as for helping to heat the car......in a way, a bit like using Shell V Power fuel........

I never considered a heated steering wheel to be worth having...................................................BUT now that I have one I think it’s great ,so great I have to wear gloves to stop my hands being burnt,,,,,,,,no ,but seriously they are really good and I have only got one now as it came as standard,motorist don’t know how lucky they are now,but that’s another story.

I have the "Edition" version with spare wheel & auto headlight assist - I do wish I'd specced the heated steering wheel though ! It's something I'd have never considered in the past, but I'm getting old (er) now and must be getting soft in my old age !!

Yes got one. Yes it is very nice on a cold day and C-in-C Home Command likes it. Bonus. No, it doesn't heat the cabin.

Would I have it again definitely.

It's really useful and heats up quick, 3 stages to choose and you can assign it to your heated seats too.

 

I find myself turning it on on low even when its chilly or wet in evenings, it's very roasty....

Definitely worth it, I used it all winter. Wouldn't buy a car without it after having it in the Karoq.

Aye, it can be grim up North. About 12c for me i reckon. Needs linking to the cars temperature sensor.....

WAY too much trouble to slip on a pair of gloves....Also having the trouble of taking them off again later.....

The winter before last I put on my gloves only twice, when outside temperature was -14C resp. -17C.

And that with that plastic-clad steering wheel from 2005.

 

Ladies love my warm hands ...  

(talking about handshaking, of course)

With the overwhelmingly positive response, and the small cost of 150 GBP, I went for it. As an added bonus the dealer mentioned my build week went down from 24 to 22 as well! Can't wait
