Just collected by new 56-plate vRS, it's got the stutter right from new (10 miles).

Was assured by the dealer that this only affected early 2006MY cars, that now sounds like sales talk.

Will be asking them about the fix tomorrow...

Mine does it to, just like the old Pug 205 1.9

My brand new car also stutters :(

Dealer is aware of a fix and is awaiting parts apparently.

Add me to the list, its variable depending on the temp outside but really bad in higher gears around 2000 rpm. Also noticed she "shunts" alot when trying to move through traffic, like throttle isnt connected properly to engine !

I contacted my local dealer today about the 'Fix' I have read about in this forum. I was told that a fix did exist with a replacement gasket restricting airflow but that they had received an e-mail today saying all fixes had to be recalled and undone. As the cars have been found to be emitting excessive emissions they were deemed illegal and Skoda do not want to be seen to be breaking emissions regulations. The e-mail seemed to say that the stutter is a result of ever increasing emissions regs and was not a design fault. Sounds like the VW clan are closing ranks on this one.

Well it obviously is a design fault as other manufacturers seem to be able to produce cars that don't have such problems. I will be contacting Skoda Customer services tomorrow and then Lex Leasing who provide the company car to my workplace. Its driving me nuts and I'm not going to let this lie. Unlike a private buyer I'm stuck with the car for the next three years. Plenty of time to keep hassling until I get a fix or Skoda get fed up of me the same way I'm getting fed up of their car.

As an alternative to the customer service team in Leatherhead you could try John Borromeo (Skoda Technical), or Stephen Whitcombe (Skoda Technical Liaison Manager) at Yeomans Drive, Blakelands, Milton Keynes, MK14 5AN (01908 679121) as these are the guys who've taken this position. Don't call on Monday 27th November though as they'll be in Winchester County Court defending an action I've brought against them on this exact issue.

another victim, 1 week old 56 fabia vrs, engine misses a beat usually at low revs pulling away after changing down. 400 miles on the clock.

We guys need to stick together and perhaps point out that programs like watchdog take a dim view of companies that use regulations to hide behind.

count me in as well, ive got a 56 plate down in sunny cornwall

I just got mine, and it's only done 350 miles, so I'm not going to answer yet.

There's a slight stutter noticeable at about 1800 revs in 3rd, and occasionally in 4th. It doesn't happen very often, and it isn't noticeable enough for me to consider it a problem. Is this what everyone is talking about? Does it get worse with age, or something?

In a word.....YES. This is it. Around 1800-2000 RPM slow to spool the turbo, hesiatation, stutter. Don`t get paranoid about it. Ask the dealer if your car has had the EGR gasket update done. This will improve the issue but not resolve it. The VRS is a great car so enjoy.

I might have noticed a very "slight" stutter ONLY once or twice ...is there much else one should look for??? Sorry but for the uninitiated, what does overrun mean ? Is it like, high revving and then letting the revs drop back down in their own speed ?

I can't say it has spoiled my enjoyment too much of what is a GREAT car. Lets keep things in perspective please.

I am coming into the pot here as a second owner of the Fab (1st was of course, 1.4Mpi).

This is only as a result of my family members also owning Skoda's too, the 16v's.

I can't say I have noticed anything that has annoyed me enough to even want to call my dealer .... mind you, I drive it like its MEANT to be driven mostly lol

I took it a steady 60-70mph on the way home tonight tho....and no stutters whatsoever. Very well behaved. Great fun watching the MPG go up 20Mpg while tailgating behind lorries lol.

Mines only a coupla weeks or so old....is that making any difference do you reckon ? Likely to have had the EGR already perhaps

Don't worry - it's get worse with time.

Wait until the first time to drop down a gear to overtake something, and it just feels like your rapidly pressing the clutch in and out. Very nasty.

Meaning you are obeying the running-in instructions (below 3000RPM) or you are bouncing off the governor with a new engine?

It happens on mine between 1800 and 2000rpm usually when changing up or down a gear.

Mine didn't do it at all before 3000 miles so you've plenty of time to experience it in the future.

What was the outcome on 27/11 ? or can you not talk about it ?

I'm sure there are plenty of interested people who want to know.

Spent three happy hours arguing with dealer's barrister and Skoda UK's barrister, who were each desperately trying to earn their

Well, I've had the car for 700 miles now so I thought I'd comment again. I got it on November 29th, I believe it was built at the start of November.

It does have a stutter, however I've never noticed it under hard acceleration (even when dropping a gear). Instead it stutters at about 1800 rpm in 3rd (occasionally 4th) under gentle accelerator pressure, particularly if going uphill.

Mine about same age as yours Mr Jack, same sort of mileage. same build date. Exactly same syptoms as yours. I suspect mine has had the 'fix' as it is not really an issue, but I note the comments here that it will get worse.

If you "read between the lines" you may draw conclusion that by purchasing your own gasket, modifying it to the first fix dimensions and fitting it in place of the current fix gasket you may improve the situation. ;)

Well my 56 plate VRS doesn't stutter - In fact it is smoother than the either my Father or Brothers 04 VRSs...

I got my vRS new at the begining of August and have so far covered just short of 7000 miles without any problems. Occasionally there is a very slight 'stutter' at low revs in 4th gear if I'm only touching the throttle lightly and lift my foot off and press it again striaght away, good job I don't normally drive with a light foot ;) Tbh though I wouldn't say my car has a problem and under normal driving conditions it never hesitates and spins cleanly up through every gear.

Is that an easy DIY jobby Stu?

I have a 55 Vrs bought new last November and it has the stutter, it does seem to be getting worse. The best I can describe it as is a hesitation/loss of power/hicup when on part throttle anywhere between 1800 and 2000 revs. I notice it most when driving around town in third or fourth.

It's really taken the gloss of an excellent car.

Had my gasket changed last Friday..the stutter has gone!!!!!!

There is still a slight hesitation but its far far less noticable than before. Engine pulls better and is now doing 3mpg more accoriding to the computer...not done a tank check yet.

If only the occassional period of rough idling could have been fixed by the gasket change......

I have a new VRS SE with the stutter, mod has been done at main dealer, but if anything is made it worst, add my name to list.

It improves it, whilst also making the engine run like a dog. Personally, like a few others i have done a fix myself which involves fitting a gasket with a hole of 9mm.

Car is now spot on. Emmissions no longer meet euro IV requirements - but hey! **** happens!

Read the last few pages of the sticky at the top of the forum. Some very useful info there.
