Did Vettel say 'brakes failed' or 'Brains' failed ? :D

He reported brake line exploded which sounds scary as you approach 200mph. Time to check his nomex for stains I think.

Sounds like the team are trying to get rid of him.;)

Perhaps the reserve driver is also the brake engineer. Confirmed LeClerc crashed heavily at Parabolica must be the reserve driver worked on his car also. Magnusson breakdown in Ferrari engined HAAS causes safety car chaos. Now RED FLAG for a restart.

Hamilton short shifting to make his rear tyres last longer yet stretching his lead over Sainz to 10 seconds. A walk in the Monza Park for Lewis. Bottas complaining about engine modes. Perhaps he needs to move to RBR to fit in with their outlook and team motto.

Hamilton gets a 10 second penalty.

I have absolutely no idea who will win this crazy race. Could it be Lance Stroll in the Racing Point.

Both Ferrari's out and now Verstappen joins them. Will Hamilton get any points? Will Bottas win?

Bottas is a pudding

Albon is also a pudding

Gasly win, i do like Gasly. Think he needs another shot in a RedBull and Albon demoted

Wonder what the Ladbroke's (other betting shops are available) odds were before the race on 1st Gasly, 2nd Sainz and 3rd Stroll. Fastest lap for an angry Lewis so he only lost 3 points on Bottas and actually gained 7 points on Max so not as bad as it could have been. Glad I won't be in the Mercedes debrief room when they explain to Lewis it was the smartest thing to do to pit him.

Because Renault picked up 12 points Ferrari now 6th and just 220 points behind Mercedes.

Italians rescued some pride from the unlikely source of ie Alpha-Tauri, happy for Gasly too.

Mercedes next slowest cars on the straights after Ferrari and Williams it appears.

These were the Qually speed trap figures, even with Drag Reduction it looked painful for the Mercedes to pass even with the half a second a lap quicker lap-time with their more downforce.

More like this please, sprint race, reverse grid etc like other series like to see.  Is Kimmy using the old illegal Ferrari engine and nobody told them ?

Were these speed trap figures for when cars were slipstreaming?  Mercedes clearly set the car up all wrong because before the red flag everyone else was all over the back of Hamilton, oh, sorry they weren't. Hamilton's fastest lap in the race, was how much faster than the next fastest time?

There is a bit more to racing than being fast in a straight line, unless you're drag racing of course.

Also most teams have very slippery rear wings at Monza so even using the DRS on the straights have little difference compared to other higher downforce tracks. Fastest lap by Lewis was not matched by any of the cars that finished ahead of him.

Not a really useful set of stats as it depends if they got a tow or not in qually. Neither Bottas or Hamilton did as they were running alone.

However, Hamilton was hitting 355kmh with DRS on the onboard views during his comeback drive in race 2.

Well Done Pierre. He has really grown up in the last year, and will surely go back to RBR, either in place of Alex, or in 2022 when Max possibly goes to Mercedes?

Ferrari drop RP verdict appeal.

RP drop appeal against punishment.

Still no-one gets to appeal the FIA vs Ferrari cheating enquiry.

Hamilton started the day 47 points ahead of Verstappen (157 =110) and ended the day 47 points ahead of Bottas (164 - 117)

Shouldn't have got away with it but for Bottas being inexplicably rubbish all day?? I mean, he must have been favourite to win from the second start surely?

Toto explained that Bottas had an engine cooling issue when running close to the car in front, but didn't say what caused the poor start. Verstappen also had a poor start and struggled to pass. Hamilton on the other hand didn't have too many issues in getting from 16th to 7th.

I think we can conclude that the Merc is fine if it qualifies on the front row and stays out front.  Hamilton could only manage to grow that lead by 13 seconds after 20 laps behind the Renault engined  McLaren with another McLaren is only 4 seconds behind that.  If he had pitted, with Monza having a 25 second put lane dwell time Hamilton would have come out behind several cars and of course we all know the school boy error of entering the pit lane when it was closed.

Very bad day for many No 2 drivers, Bottas, (OMG),  Perez, Ocon and Albon who all seemed to have issues passing even when they appear to have faster cars going by qually.

Very happy next Tuscany GP which those of us who follow MotoGP know and love with it 1.14 km straight and the bikes hitting over 350 kph on the kinked straight.

More racing like last weekend but perhaps less of a lottery on the safety car incident which was a bit of a crap shoot.

Yeah. But they adjusted the cooling on Bottas car during the red flag.

Monza is historically an awful place for overtaking, especially in a DRS queue. Hamilton wasn't in a queue though and picked them off one by one.

Have to say Mugello whilst fast and flowing will possibly be worse, with no slow corners to overtake into.

You fail to mention a certain Max in your bad day list. He was as rubbish as Bottas.
