Hi,

I have recently done retrofit from MIB1 to MIB2 but I have there pretty old SW installed..
Can I update it to something newer?

Right away I want to ask if I do update with SD card is there a chance that it will broke something like component protection or smartlink activation?

Thanks

Hello folks
Happy to be here

Just new , hopped recently onto this MIB crazy journey D
Please tell me what's the best i can get from my MIB2 Amundsen

Partnumber 5L0035680E
HW Part H32
SW Train - (i guess it's) MST2_EU_SK_PQ_P0363T

I have three questions
What's the latest i can install?
Can i install 480T somehow, is there such a guide to do safely so?
I've seen MIB2 PQ running 480T, that's why i'm asking

And lastly - what kind of rear view camera does this MIB2 support?
My car is Octavia 2 Facelift, so i'd like a rear view camera in the trunk handle, if possible

Thank you & really grateful to be here

Hello,

I recently bought a 2017. Octavia MK3, and after reading a lot of threads on this forum I decided to upgrade an Amundsen firmware. Original FW was MST2_EU_SK_ZR_P0363T, which I succesfully upgraded to MST2_EU_SK_ZR_P0369T and everything was fine.

According to this thread and mib-helper page, it is possible to upgrade it to MST2_EU_SK_ZR_P0480T, so why not?

I did it from toolbox, SWDL menu and the upgrade started fine. But after third reboot the unit bricked and screen doesn't power up any more. I tried to hold power and menu buttons for a longer time than 20 sec. but nothing.

VCDS can see the unit, but the screen doesn't show up.

Any help will be very appreciated, because I'm running out of ideas....

Well important question did you modified metainfo and changed the CPUID? If not that is the reason why it is bricked.

You also update emergency I assume you did not uncheck this part of update?

No, I didn't. Can you give me some more info?

Is there a way to restore the unit?

Because you also updated emergency you are now not able to do emergency restore to older firmware. Now the only option to restore the unit is to find someone who can directly connect to the PCB to memory chip and reflash it.

I'm not sure, but you are probably right.

Is there any "manual" and needed files around, I have some soldering and programming skills....

Do not have experience with this. I never brick any unit because I know what not to do 😃 and I install lot of them to 480

Thanks for your help. This time I was careless, but I'll do my best to recover the unit.

So, my question is still open, if anyone can help, it will be very appreciated.

BTW, can you give me the needed info to 480 upgrade (from3xx)?

You need a modified meta file. Then run Swdl manually. First, select everything and manually deselect Emergency Main and CPU. Perform the update. That should all work, then reinstall the full firmware. Emergency Main and CPU should then also run. You can also perform a firmware Train JUMP upgrade without Toolbox.

Now you need QNX...

I developed my own contact method, see Picture With black frame.

If the emergency menu appears, you can still try using a pin clamp and PuTTY.

Thank you Cairus, your message is a game changer for me )

But I still have some doubts:

1. Can I use QNX virtual machine?

Even in that case I have to study how to flash the unit, because my QNX knowledge is basic level only.

2.Regarding modified metafile, is it only needed to set all "RequiredVersion" lines to zero (when it has a different value) or something more?

It's probably explained on the forum, but there are really many pages to read.

@Cairus Can you share a working eMMC image of MST2_EU_SK_ZR_P0369T or MST2_EU_SK_ZR_P0480T please?

I tried byte17/skin0 and Emeargency update, but nothing...
