Offsetting BRISKODA's environmental impact, or planting trees for posts

You see if you don't do something every month, when you do finally sit down to catch up, it feels like a mamoth task.

Had a really tough May, June and July. Physically, emotionally & mentally.

For some reason I woke up today and gave a hoot again :) So anything today is a win.

Here is June's Trees, your trees: https://ecologi.com/briskoda?treeId=611a9902d372d223665bf4ad

Then as I was in a world of my own for a little longer than I care to admit... Might as well do July's trees while I'm at it...

Here are your trees for July: https://ecologi.com/briskoda?treeId=611a9a1fd372d223665bf573

Thats quite a few trees. Along the way we got some extra ones thanks to someone starting there own offsetting... thank you whomever you are.

If you want to start your own offsetting, join the party. This link nets you some and us some additional trees.

Per month £10.40 offsets around 25k miles per year, ask your boss, we can together do more. Thats the price of two pints! If goverments and big companies won't we'll have to get the ball rolling...

Nice to hear you're getting through things, Col. A bloke once said to me 'I can deal with a single elephant far easier than lots of mice'. I took that to mean always keep on top of the little things rather than let them to build up to become many bigger problems. Sometimes it the small things.

@varaderoguy Yeah it's not many.

5.71 tonnes:25000 miles in a diesel vehicle doing 50 mpg (UK)

src: https://calculator.carbonfootprint.com/calculator.aspx?tab=4

So I don't do that sort of mileage, but I have lots of power hungry stuff and the driving I do do, tends to be local <30miles over hilly ( peak district ) so I use the 5.20 plan:

https://ecologi.com/business/checkout

That covers me at a most basic level.

Of course one needs to decide if one trusts a checkout page with rough summaries or a bit of fact checking elsewhere. Because 12months of 0.9 is more than 5.71 tonnes. Then again there is all the home stuff, boiler, tv, internet modem, bar fire and so on...

All said, anything is better than nothing, and something is a start :) For less than a round (4 people) I feel slightly better about ragging a 2l petrol car up and down dale... slightly... goes of to punish myself.

Seems changing job and a few other things set me back again...

I've extracted myself from one set of volunteering things...

Some new trees for the missing months:

As we're just days away from COP26, a few more trees can't hurt, it's down to us to do something, because we know only hotair is coming from Glasgow this weekend.

Septembers trees:  https://ecologi.com/briskoda?treeId=6173f12ab00f6b45fc940c68

And as we're near enough at the end of October!!! Where has this year gone?

Lets do a predicition and add a few in for the heck of it...

That puts us at 7,591 trees. In a little over a year. Sincere thanks to all those who have taken some action, either this way, or any other way.

Wonder if we can make 10k before March...

I'm looking for hosting options that are carbon negative now. Although we're pretty sure we're negative now in what we do for briskoda. Got a bit to do personally to get to negative and quite a bit to get to negative overall. Got to be worth it though...

You can either add to someone's 'profile' as per you have, or you can setup your own profile.

So when logged in, I'm logging in as briskoda, I can add to my profile.

To add to someone elses, I view and add to their profile.

I also have a monthly tree/carbon subscription which covers off 'briskodas' co2 for servers etc That done as a business though through: https://ecologi.com/business/checkout

Or if you're signing up you can use this link:

https://ecologi.com/briskoda?r=5e6a458e1577910018ebdb95 and ecologi plant a few extra trees. I know it's all a bit smoke and mirrors, people to pay, but it's got to be better than a free pack of sweet with your first order ;)

This is a summary of where we're at.

Top is ecologi as a whole, their goal of 25million. Wasn't long ago they were shooting for 1million. I know it's not all in tree planting and some argue tree planting harms other eco systems.

Bottom is a mix of total/ this month.

As mentioned near the start, we also plant UK trees.

In theory we can go and look at them... maybe use google images to see how it's going ;)

We've got 7(trees) so far, Who -> link -> what3words location

  9. @Auric Goldfinger https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/499434-auric-andy-goldfinger/?do=findComment&comment=5619560

I'm going to 'award' these trees to the planters thus far... although my plan was tripped up by one by @AnnoyingPentium Your's will be next ;) Now of course I'm likely to have missed a few, but these I can reconcile. If you have supported, let me know which ones, and I'll add you to the UK tree list :)

Is yours one of the ones up in Dalry? Or down in Dalry, in my case.

West coast, St Phillans, just north of Largs.  Couldn't pop round with a watering can could you? - there's a burn nearby.  No taking any cuttings yet mind :shake:

That's alright, because the logistics behind moving a full watering car in the boot of a car which has a tendency to lean well into corners doesn't seem like a good idea. :D

How many trees would be needed to offset the journey :D

However many acres it took to produce the 130 or so litres (rough guess) of petrol I'd need.  I'd better start saving/planting..... this planet saving malarkey looks like it's gonna get expensive 🙄

I don't know if anyone's mentioned this, but if carbon offset and the environment matters to you as an individual; there's an energy company in the UK called 'Bulb' that uses 100% renewable electricity and their gas is 100% carbon neutral! I haven't found them any more expensive than other energy companies so if this is important to you, feel free to check them out! 😊
