Delivery times?

Featured Replies

The latest news is an agreement with importers that we will deliver unfinished cars to the countries where we sell them and then complete them on site. This will save us a lot of money, especially transport costs, and the cars will be handed over to our customers faster.

This model has proven itself in the past. At the same time, the staff is ready to take on extra shifts at any time to make cars for our customers.

  • Well 13.5 months waiting and I finally collected my Octy Estate vRS yesterday. I couldn't be happier  👍😀

  • After 13 months waiting my SEL iV Plug in Hybrid arrived.    All seems good with it so far, just to understand some of the infotainment features!

  • Just took delivery of mine but had to cancel some of the optional extras

Interesting to know if that included cars to the UK so not in the EU.  These would need to meet type approval and be capable of being retested as in the WLTP if required.  VW groups word can not just be trusted. Random testing is carried out.

Just been given a build week of week 42 😃

With 14 months gone and no end in sight, I've recently stumbled upon a very interesting review on new Honda Civic. The way is works with those engine-generators is a bit unorthodox, but it seems to be an interesting alternative. The prices are quite steep here, but quite close compared to e.g. RS or Style with 2.0 TSI engine. And delivery times are pretty fast.

*Doubts*...

So our car is built and waiting for shipping in Germany, yey! Anyone know how long it could take to get the UK?

Depends on ships schedules, basically have to wait for next ship to UK, could be tomorrow, might be nearer 1-2 weeks.  At busy times might not get on first ship.

These ships carry few thousand cars (but will also be VWs on it), then tend to go to Sheerness (Kent), Grimsby or Port of Tyne.  They can unload in few hours but will take 12-24 hours sailing between each.

Then anything from 2-14 days for road transporter to your dealer (depends on how busy, and how many other customers cars your dealer has)

The dealer seems to think it’ll be next week but given we’ve waited so long I’m not holding out much hope!

I'm Similar to you. Car was at the port Friday waiting to be shipped . If you want to be very geeky you can see which ships are leaving from this link https://www.vesselfinder.com/ports/DEEME001 there is a ship due to arrive back from Sheerness today. I'm hoping mine will be put on that and then a few days back to Sheerness https://www.vesselfinder.com/vessels/EMS-HIGHWAY-IMO-9195133-MMSI-212882000

Also a ship is on its way to Grimsby due tomorrow

I'm basically using this thread as a diary at this stage 😅.

Latest info provided to me is production of MHEVs is to resume Wk 37 and expected to produce 1 Nr per week for Ireland.

I'm told numbers awaited are limited enough here so hoping mine will be close enough to that which would mean possible delivery mid October.

Although I was also told that the drought situation on the continent could have further impact on delivery of parts, etc.

If you were to write a script on this whole saga, you couldn't come close with some of what has been given as excuses to date!

"Europe’s rivers run dry as scientists warn drought could be worst in 500 years"

Looks like Week 43 production for me now which would mean delivery end Nov/beginning Dec all going well.

Had already decided that I'd be holding off for the new year registration once it went beyond October so hopefully will be ready for early Jan at the very least.

Picked my Octavia 2.0 150 TDI SE L DSG up yesterday, 2 weeks short of a year. Cars good but the manual (both on-line and paper are a nightmare to understand. Haven't even figured how to turn radio off yet other than mute it! And can't get a decent display, so don't know what gear it's in, how many miles of range left and struggling to get phone contacts to download. Oh for my previous Kia Optima - so easy and all info only a button away.

Sorry your post made me giggle. How can you not know what gear it's in with a manual ? You literally choose the gear yourself.   In 20yrs of driving a manual I've never had to look down to see what gear I was in.

He’s got DSG, automatic?

I'm not sure how the software evolved since I had my drive-test with Octavia before ordering, but at that time you could see the gear only in Sport. Once you are in drive (showing D on the dashboard), if you flick your gear-shifter once more to "S" you'll see an S on the dashboard followed by a digit - that's the gear the car is in...
I'm supposed to pick up mine this Saturday - I'll be able to check if this type of gear display was kept or discarded with software evolution.

Only a very poor or inexperienced driver looks down at the gearlever and JettaMC22 did not say thats what they did.

I frequently touch the gearlever to make sure I am actually in 6th gear, the ratios are so close its easy to remain in 5th and not realise the need to change up, sometimes the car feels a little too reactive to the throttle to be in 6th but it actually is. I should add that following Malaria I have zero short term memory and having sight in only one eye I would never take it off the road ahead to look at the gear display on the dashboard, I probably look like an dopey old fart to a passenger tapping the gearlever but its the safest way.

I am sadly old enough to remember driving 4 speed manuals, then 5 then 6... Overdrives etc.... I can not say I have never looked down or 'touched' the gearstick to check what gear it is in... It worse when you own cars with 5 gears and 6 gears, driving down the motorway in 5th before you remember it has 6!! As cars have got quieter its harder to 'hear' the gear you are in and as dull as it sounds cognitive failure (jumping between cars with different number of gears) happens.

Funny thing that happens to me - I already have the car in 6th but still want to shift upwards 😊😊. Will see how I cope with DSG, I’m kind of nervous I have to admit 😁

+1!!! 😂😂😂

When this happens to me, I quickly try to evaluate what's wrong with me. And each time I realize that my mind is busy with some problem other than driving... I'm actually very aware of the things happening around me in traffic, but changing gears is something I do without the need to think about it - it's kind of a reflex mostly based on engine sound (no need to look at the revs or speed).

Don't worry about it! You'll get used to it very fast. I was using the manual Megane 2 and the EDC Megane GT in parallel - and everything was smooth; I didn't need any time to adjust from one car to another.

Sorry Kingelk but don't know how to get your comment to appear for my reply.

However, it is a DSG auto and the reason I want to see the gear because I've found in other cars, my Kia and before that a VW Jetta, as I use Cruise Control a hell of a lot that at say 49mph it can be in 6th but by increasing it to 50mph it will slip into 7th and save me money on petrol/diesel.

Again sorry Sk0mk4 but your comment regarding Sport mode sounds good and i'll try it, thanks.

And to everyone else - Once you've moved to DSG auto you'll never go back.... absolutely superb and better than other automatics.

Also the Adaptive Cruise Control I was dreading as previously only had ordinary CC and thought how much fuel it would waste braking and slowing down. On my first motorway trip yesterday very pleasantly surprised - makes driving that little bit less hassle and by having a short distance and good observation so you don't get hemmed in and overtake in plenty of time, it doesn't need to slow you down much but is so good in a queue.

I will take you word for it, cause I am waiting to move to DSG for 14 months now, but somehow Skoda has other plans. ;)
