I also have the boot handle camera and yes it is a bit of a pain to fit, mainly running the cables through the the rubber grommets where the the boot opens if you have the estate car.  I don't know how it will work installing the camera with the new head unit installed as I did it when I had the Amundsen fitted and I had to make some coding changes with Obdeleven to get the camera to work but without the Amundsen fitted you have no access to the 5F module to make the required changes. I guess you will need to test it before you run the cables and fit the camera to see if it works properly when you select reverse.

If I remember without looking you need to go into settings then factory settings then use the password 123456 and you should find a backup apk option. Once it has finished you go into file manager app and find the backed up folder and then transfer to memory stick. Also make sure you have show hidden files and if you have a folder called blink back that up as well as apparently that holds any licences for the unit.

I've ordered a free PAYG Vodafone SIM so will let you know if it works in my SIM dongle.

I've had a look at some of the videos for the boot handle camera online, and it does seem you need to just connect everything up without any coding changes. Took my a while to get my head around the power cables, but I think I saw a positive power cable labelled for camera power on the back of the unit, and I guess I connect the negative/ground to any point on the boot.

  • The job is never finished until you leave DNA behind!

  • Small update as have now gone back in and put a generic external microphone in place. I opted not to put it behind the trim where factory one is as it's blanked off on driver side and didn't think it

  • That screen to map out the steering controls is identical to that on mine.   If you did want to add DAB to it by the way then I can highly recommend the rear amplifier and splitter option.

I'll see if I can get hold of a Vodafone SIM for you, and give it a go.

The seller forgot to send me the "free" camera. Apparently it's now being sent with the modified factory USB lead. From the pictures I kind of assumed the camera provided would be rubbish anyway - maybe I've been too quick to judge.

The camera I bought from Alixpress was the one that is integrated into the boot handle, which looks like a neat solution. Just not looking forward to running the cable through the car!

Is there a backup function? Haven't found it yet. Or do you have to install an app to backup.

I don't haven't ordered the camera as I have to check the size of the plug on the handle. There are 2 sizes...

On my unit When I reverse the screen goes Black as if it is looking for the camera picture. I don't think that there is anything to do to activate the reverse camera

I measured mine before I bought it. I have a 2013 Octavia hatchback and the handle was the smaller one.

Same for me the screen turns black ready for an image so hopefully it will work once I make all the connections.

What I did when I ordered the boot handle camera was sort out the coding required whilst waiting for the camera to arrive. I hard wired a short RCA female connector to the iso connector for the MIB so I could just plug in the camera when it arrived which also gave me easy disconnect options if I needed to remove it and not have to mess around with the pins on the iso. To test it I took an old video player out to the car which had an rca video output on it and plugged it in, turned on a video to see if it was playing on the screen when I put the car in reverse.

That is something you could try as you already have the yellow rca connector fitted to the head unit,  you just need to find a piece of video equipment that has rca video output.

I am going with this one.

Hello everyone glad to join this forum, since june last year im proud owner of the 220 hp vrs in steel gray, a 2015 model. After reading this thread like 3 times i decided to order this unit aswell since i have small orginal radio and its so boring.

How is the audio compared to orginal unit? (also planning to connect subwoofer)

Might sound stupid but do parking sensors still replay fine and can still trust them? (i might order rear camera with the unit aswell)

Hello,  for me, the sound is better than the original. The unit has DSP so you can manage the sound better than the stock unit.

For the se'sors6, they will work. The beeping will always work, even if the unit if off or powering on as it is managed by the car and not the unit.

For the on screen sensors, I have 3 situations,

- if drive and park, the screen pops up fine and you see the lines and every thing, it goes on and off as it should

- if you deactivate and reactivate the sensors, the screen showing the front sensors will only pop up after you have engaged reverse once. If not you will only hear the beeps

- if my unit boots up and the sensors detect something at that moment, like if I am parked, the screen will freeze and will become functional about 30 seconds after I leave my Spot and that the sensors don't detect any thing. The beeps still work thought and you can trust theme

And check the size of your plug before ordering the camera. It's a bummer but it is what it is.

Little trick, il the settings, set the radio and audio videos volume to -7, it gives you more head room when cranking the volume up.

Well now I am thinking about selling the Unit. As good as music management is and GPS, I get reboots every 2 or 3 minutes on phone calls. Not saying how these calls are painful with the poor microphone quality. I haven't received the one fubar has yet nor the harness to wire the Stock one but on the other side, the outside noise seems to be annoying.

Plus these reboots...

What I mean is if your parking sensors go on and that you press the button to disconnect them, the front sensors Will beep but not display on the screen before you put the car in revere. You will have the beeps but no display on the screen.

For the camera, if you have the 9cm handle, then they are 2 possible plugs, look here https://m.fr.aliexpress.com/item/1005002977055531.html?srcSns=sns_Copy&spreadType=socialShare&bizType=ProductDetail&social_params=60134119896&aff_fcid=3f4f7a75b9cc412fa8efc4f2127e2158-1642892007639-09719-_uI4fHh&tt=MG&aff_fsk=_uI4fHh&aff_platform=default&sk=_uI4fHh&aff_trace_key=3f4f7a75b9cc412fa8efc4f2127e2158-1642892007639-09719-_uI4fHh&shareId=60134119896&businessType=ProductDetail&platform=AE&terminal_id=52f7f65a239f4abf96c8ac4af37a44d6&afSmartRedirect=y

i see as long as i dont disable them they will just show on screen when parking anyways thats nice, thank you

So I recieved the same mic as FUBAR has, I lesft myself 2 voice mails, one with the ibuilt mic and one with the new mic. I must say, on the voice mail, we are way ahead of the inbuilt mic. The sound is crisp and clear. The car was stationnary so I have to call someone while driving and see what they have to say.

Then I will test the factory miconce the harness arrives.

I also have to figure out these random reboots. I installed CPU monitor to see if it is caused by overheating. For the moment CPU doesn't go over 65 celsious.

I will keep monitoring it.

Maybe a hard reset and minimim app installation can help, I will see that next.

As I have mentioned in previous posts when I tested the internal mic, an external mic and also the factory mic, the factory mic seemed to be the worst out of the three, I always tested with the car stationary and engine not running.

Anyway, today my wife phoned me whilst I was driving and she complained that the call was bad and to her it sounded like a wasp or bee was humming down the phone to her, on my side everything seemed clear.

When I got home, I decided to run some more tests using the microphone sound test app that I had installed but this time with the engine off then engine running. I tried with the internal, external and factory mic and the results were that with the engine turned off the sound quality on all three mics was ok but with the engine running I can clearly hear a humming/droning noise on all three mics as if the head unit it picking the sound of the engine running, if I increased the revs on the engine the humming also got louder.

I might have to dismantle the head unit to investigate a bit further but I need to do some research first.

Your reboots might be to do with overheating and I have seem on other forums of some people having overheating issues during hotter weather, there is a workaround for that in that you can fit a small cooling fan to the back of the head unit which apparently solves the overheating problem.

I would seriously think about doing a proper factory reset just to eliminate any corrupt files etc. from where you have been playing around trying to make any changes.. When I have been resetting mine, I always doing a factory reset through the settings menu using password 7890, then when it has rebooted I then go into the full android settings and do a full factory reset as well.

Just carried out a quick test call on my unit using the built in microphone, by leaving myself a voice message. Quality seemed OK (I think!). Tried with engine idling and reving up a bit and still seemed OK. I suppose it might be different after a while or when actually moving with all the road noise, so will test properly another day.

I don't have the buzzing you have. On my side it was like talking in a jar and all deformed. With the flat mic it was the same thing. With the new mic that has foam around it, I just sent a voice mail while parking in my garage and reved the engine. No buzzing and everything was good quality and very audible. So I can't see where your humming comes from....

Next step is to have a real conversation and see how it goes.

I drove about 1 hour today and didn't get any reboots this time. I previously unplugged a d replugged the the power plug if the Unit and pressed really hard when I put it back so I am keeping my fingers crossed but you are right, after doing so much testing and installations, I will go for a full Factory reset soon.

I Also monitored the Unit, the CPU never goes over 65 degrees but it often hits 100% of usage. Could it be throttling and just cutting off?

It seems all the units react differently... The construction quality must really be random.

My parking sensors issues have returned in certain situations like detecting something before the Unit has fully booted up or stoping the car when it detects something.. in these 2 situations, the car in the screen freezes for about 30 seconds.

So I made a phone call while driving with this mic. On the other side, I was heared clearly. No buzzing or droning, only a slight metallic voice but perfectly quiet, audible and loud.

Keeping my fingers crossed but no reboots in 2 days.

So I noticed that what is crashing is the Bluetooth, phone app.

Yesterday I wanted to make a call, the app was all black then the unit rebooted.

Looking at other launchers, FCC seems to have it's own Bluetooth management. The thing is that we must select the device type.

There is FlyAudio, Rockchip, Allwinner, ATOTO, CSN2, MTK(8227), SPRD(TEYES/Sophia/etc)

Does anyone know if any of that is related to our unit? I don't see anything relevant in the parameters.

Anyway I will go for a a full hard reset as wagster does this we

Has anyone figured out how to change the default apps you get when you press the mode button on your steering wheel (circle with three dots). It cycles through NAV/MUSIC/RADIO/AUX for me but I can't figure out to how to change most of the default apps.

I found an option for the navigation so I could change the default to Sygic, but can't find a way to change it so that the radio uses my DAB app, and PlexAmp for my music.

I had a look the steering wheel button mapping app, but couldn't get it to work either. Anyone worked it out?

AGAMA. Tried changing the app defaults in AGAMA settings but doesn't seem to work. I found default nav app setting that worked in the car settings app.
