AGAMA. Tried changing the app defaults in AGAMA settings but doesn't seem to work. I found default nav app setting that worked in the car settings app.

On any of the options on home screen touch and hold the item like radio etc and it will let you do everything there, rename, which icon, which app its for etc I added one for DAB on mine so I have that and FM

  • The job is never finished until you leave DNA behind!

  • Small update as have now gone back in and put a generic external microphone in place. I opted not to put it behind the trim where factory one is as it's blanked off on driver side and didn't think it

  • That screen to map out the steering controls is identical to that on mine.   If you did want to add DAB to it by the way then I can highly recommend the rear amplifier and splitter option.

You can add stuff to the little + symbols at bottom in same way too, I have one there for VAG DPF etc (not in the screenshot below)

I've linked apps to RADIO/NAV/MUSIC etc in AGAMA as you've shown, but this only seems to relate to the AGAMA app. The default apps on the the mode button (circle with dots on left of photo) on the steering wheel aren't changed. When press the button it cycles through NAV/MUSIC/RADIO/AUX etc but with the exception of NAV they are all the default apps. Had a quick look on XDA developers forum and it seems other people have asked the same question for other android head units but there doesn't seem to be a solution.

The button mapping I was trying to use is the built in steering wheel button app in the photo attached not in AGAMA. When I press start at the bottom of this app, select the function I want and then press the button on the steering wheel it just activates the default button action rather than re-mapping it. I wondered if anyone else has sucessfully managed to use this app to re-map the steering wheel buttons? I see there is an impedance selection option which I haven't tried yet so will give that a go.

So I noticed that what is crashing is the Bluetooth, phone app.

Yesterday I wanted to make a call, the app was all black then the unit rebooted.

Looking at other launchers, FCC seems to have it's own Bluetooth management. The thing is that we must select the device type.

There is FlyAudio, Rockchip, Allwinner, ATOTO, CSN2, MTK(8227), SPRD(TEYES/Sophia/etc)

Does anyone know if any of that is related to our unit? I don't see anything relevant in the parameters.

Anyway I will go for a a full hard reset as wagster does this we

To be honest I would not have any idea which one to pick but you could try them all I guess. I know that I have a UIS8581A UNISOC chip fitted but that is not much help.  You could also add on the official FCC Launcher forum for help https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/fcc-car-launcher-official-thread.3639659/page-412#post-85987889

Has anyone figured out how to change the default apps you get when you press the mode button on your steering wheel (circle with three dots). It cycles through NAV/MUSIC/RADIO/AUX for me but I can't figure out to how to change most of the default apps.

I found an option for the navigation so I could change the default to Sygic, but can't find a way to change it so that the radio uses my DAB app, and PlexAmp for my music.

I had a look the steering wheel button mapping app, but couldn't get it to work either. Anyone worked it out?

I don't have the Mode button on my steering wheel, mine was I on the factory display unit, where your mode button is I have the search button so can't really help you sorry.

Well I think that the canbus calls the default apps of the Unit that are hard coded in the firmware. All other apps are added APK. I don't think what you are trying to achieve is possible.

I have the same button but never used it as I find it wothless to cycles trought the sources When you can just go straight to what you want with the screen.

I had an Amundsen mib1 and it has physical buttons for all the sources.

Ok I'll check the forum.

Anyway I went for a full Factory reset this we, with both menus.

When setting everything back up, I noticed that you can set the Bluetooth in the Bluetooth app and in the android settings, they show up as 2 different sources.. I went with only the Bluetooth app. So far so good, I hope it holds. I am still getting these parking sensors hang ups thought.

Also I tried the head unit reloaded Trial app for Android auto and it works good, the Voice input seems to work not too bad compared to the tlink app where the voice  will register only for dictating messages but doesn't register anything if you search for something.

This is the issue with the parking sensors hanging up for 30 to 40 seconds.

I don't have that problem, have you tried to see if it still happens when using the stock launcher, I haven't switched over to Agama yet. Also in the car settings if you scroll down to the bottom there is an option to switch on or off parking assist or words to that effect, try changing that as I find that it controls whether the car sensor screen stays on after going from reverse to drive and it doesn't go off until I get above a certain speed driving forward.

From memory it did happen with the Stock launcher.

I did in fact see these options but just left theme assuming as I didn't have theme they wouldn't make any difference. I will try disabling them.

The car isn't going out tomorrow so I will check this in the week and let you know.

For the launcher, I left agama for carwebguru free. It is more customisable.

well no luck, parking ssist was already off.

I guess I am stuck with this annoying bug.

So I am scratching my head this evening. I built myself a neat cable to try the factory microphone.

The thing is when I use it, my voice is loud nice but there is a background noise like a bee hive buzzing. It as as if there is no ground. I tried all the combinations, inverting plus and ground, plugging only ground, only plus... The buzzing just won't go away. As I said, it is as if there is no ground on the cable. I don't understand... I tested the continuity on my cable and it has so Issues

I got the same sort of buzzing when I tried the factory mic and haven't got round to investigating any further on why it does it, I might look at it sometime in the future but no high on list of things to do.

I am trying to investigate, if I find something I will let you know

It seems the factory mic is an active mic, it needs power sent to it. Maybe the glove bow unit was taking care 9f that and that's why we can't get it to work with the Android head unit that uses a passiv mic

From everything I looked up nothing pointed to the factory mic needing a power supply and normal Active mics would have at least three cables going to it where the factory mic only have two. I think it might be an impedance problem.

Ok, you have more electric knowledge than me, I will wait for your conclusion. In the meantime, you should really try the mic FUBAR and I have put. It works really good with no parasites noise

FUBAR, just my curiosity, can you give us the type of your head unit.

Mine is a TS18 same as wagster.

Not using android auto and haven't set it up since the update so can't help on that.

Took my time in finding the one I liked the look of to replace my MIB1 with it's micro screen and ordered one that I'd seen seller/manufacturer recommended around the internet a bit for Mk3 Octy specifically and has been far better than I expected.

I don't get the use out of the car to justify spending out on OEM and I like the pretty open ended possibilities that this offers and I get my bigger screen look.

Octacore 4GB/64GB model on link below:

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000642821453.html

A bit of a rushed install as I was at home on standby when I went out to start and phone rang.... All matched up well, connected 2 supplied cables to power the inline antenna amplifier and brought all over towards centre behind screen where all would now plug into back of new unit, just enough and no more to work without stretching on RHD models. Canbus module with it works perfectly and allows full integration into all bits to play with and keep functionality for settings etc, I've retained the factory USB port as is with it an added another to glovebox as I could run 2 lines from it. Factory mic isn't utilised so has 3.5mm mic plug at back and will run one from that up to beside where factory one lives when I get a chance, inbuilt one by reviews says its just too quiet, so not even going to go there. Short clip to show some of features I have gained for £162 from those industrious folk way East.

All pics and vid still have screen protector film on so makes it look a little less crisp, but does a good job for my needs and can play with Carista and VAGDPF now on the big screen finally :D

Hi, you can check here

https://www.forum-audi.com/topic-729-audi-mib-et-mib-mmi-plateforme-modulaire-dinfodivertissement.html

Pink is for the factory head unit display, you don't need that anymore

Blue is for the factory GPS antenna => you can use a fakra c male to sma male adaptor to use the factory GPS antenna and not set up the provided one

Black is fot ehe factory DAB+ antenna => same as blue, you can use a fakra c male  to sma male to use the antenna

yellow is for usb but it won't work unless you send the 5V to the quadlock. You can build ana adaptor like WAGSTER did or ask the seller to provide the correct cable (like I did) for 1$

Does your parking sensosr beep or does it just not show up on the screen?

If there are no more beeps then it is not related to the head unit, if it beeps but doesn't show up then either you did not plug it right, either you did non set it right.

Check the the canbus is connecte to 2 sockets, one 16 pins ans a second one, a small one goes from the canbus to the head unit, it has only 2 wires and is easy to miss.

Then you must enter the factoey setting, use password 123456, canbus settings and select raise / vw MQP platform (in my case I use simplesoft).  you need internet cinnection while doing this.

The unit will reboot, then reboot a second time.

also check for any system updates.

Thank you for you fast answer,

Sensors work well now , i didn't set it right, or maybe not plugged at the correct place,

(first pic), on the left usb pin and on the right i don't know, it's only connected to the big big plug ,  (second pic) at first i plugged the right one to the 4 pin plug next to the green cable, and i try to plugged the 4 pin usb at the only plug free. This usb cable didn't work, today after switching those two the USB is working. and the other i don't know what this is. Is this what you talk about  "a small one goes from the canbus to the head unit, it has only 2 wires and is easy to miss. "

(third pic) i switched place of those 2 cables it seems to work,

( 3 last pic) Now i have other concerns, this is the airbag passenger , to make all the connection I remove the glovebox and the 3 plugs was connected 1 the tube for ventilation, 2 glovebox light, and the airbag plug.

Could it be this ?

Low battery voltage:
The airbag computer is a sensitive element which is likely to react abnormally because the voltage of your battery tends to drop. This disorder is due to the fact that the battery has trouble activating the motor during the voltage drop. This caused a problem with the passenger airbag.

I used the android system for a while without turning the engine on,  i drove a mile then but the issue is still there..

thanks again for the help

I will try and answer a couple on the usb connectors side but will respond better when I get on a computer.

To start with how many white connectors to usb female connectors did it come with?

Were they 6 pin white with all 6 pins wired to how many female usb's?

Did they give you a 4 pin white to female USB?

The 4 pin white that goes to the big black connector as you put it, can you take a photo of what color connector and what pins it goes to in the big connector.

The 8 pin white connector that only has 2 green cables is what comes from the canbus  box and you have that in the correct place.

Regarding the airbag problem, did you turn the ignition on with the airbag switch disconnected? If you did then you will probably need to get the fault cleared from the ECU and you will need to get hold of diagnostic equipment to do that.

What seller did you buy the unit from and did they give you any wiring instructions for it?

I took this one https://fr.aliexpress.com/item/1005003491079037.html?gatewayAdapt=glo2fra&spm=a2g0s.8937460.0.0.5a3f2e0evR3hMu

few instructions here https://fr.aliexpress.com/item/4000661674334.html?spm=a2g0s.imconversation.0.0.62163e5fzfbHBB

It came with 2 female usb, 4 pin and 6pin,

The other 4 pin is black, green, withe and red, i just checked the link above, and it could  be the radio interface...

But now everything is working, i asked just to know but it doesn't really matter if all is gooing smoothly.

Yes i did turn on the ingnition with airbag disconnect, to see if the Android multimedia works, before rebuild everything and see there is a problem as always when i do something.

Could i do it myself with this ? https://fr.aliexpress.com/item/1005003488723366.html?gatewayAdapt=glo2fra&spm=a2g0o.cart.0.0.54143c009IsXOC&mp=1, after googeling it i saw some tuto to cancel the fault,

I actually have no rear cam, and hesitating to buy one, but if it is a lot of problem like here don't know if i will do it or rather manage it

Thanks again
