Does the 1896 update allow you to switch the satnav to MPH or the virtual cockpit speedometer to KPH? Thanks.

Does anyone have a list of the fixes 1896 performs?

I was always able to change mine, even on 1803

Thanks, I'm still on 1668 (original hardware) so I'll call the garage I think.

If an over the air version becomes available is it done using the e sim or hot spot with android phone?

It's downloaded over the eSIM connection.

Thanks for that. I usually don’t bother with the e sim even though I paid to renew it a couple of months ago. I usually just use my phone and android auto. Don’t really know what the e sim is for but if I can download updates it must have some use!

Finally have the update done!
Had to schedule a visit to my dealership, it took hours.
But it's now updated to 1896.

Did you ask for this update spicifically or did the dealer had to do it as remedial action informed by factory?

I had to ask specifically, I even had to tell them the specific tpi code which some other user posted on the first page.

And what do you notice as different? Is it worth of updating?

It has some alterations on some graphics. New buttons in some places (when I say button is just some shortcuts in some areas to be more fast.) Like for instance, the air purifier option didn't have a virtual button to tap, you had to just tap the logo but know there is a specific button to tap). Another difference is when choosing driving modes, the battery percentage shows in the middle. One change that was awesome is regarding the maps. Before I had to manually go into the navigation menu in the infotainment to show on the drivers dash screen. Now it automatically shows whithout having to trigger it.

Overall the software is smoother.

The lagginess when you first star the car is still there, but it's very improved.

Car was in yesterday having the update and although I haven't done any real driving or testing, initial signs are good. Screen response is much quicker imo, lights now set to drive on left and can be changed without having to first select the already selected option. I'll test the cruise control at the weekend. At the same time they did the boot damping recall, sounded fine on the way home but I never really had that issue as I greased the wedges when I first got the car. Car was in for a day but only worked on for a few hours according to dashcam footage.

For reference I requested the update, dealer did not contact me to say it was available. I had cases open with VWFS and Skoda Customer Services but no contact from them either so thanks to all on this forum.

Had my car in for service, i asked them to update the software, they said they did but when i look its not on 1896, is there a download where i can do this? Cant be bothered (or i should say i dont have the time ) to take it back in as they had it for a 3 days fixing a head unit issue and ACC issues - these have been fixed.

I would also like download file and do it by myself.. it's not a rocket science to make a update..

Did anybody receive this update via OTA?

Lately I'm receiving updates on weekly base, but SW still on 1803..

With the latest OTA update I got a new option in the menu called "Service Campaigns". Could be Škoda is preparing to release also major updates over the air.

I have still not got it. Holding off booking into dealers in the hope.

Even with the 1896 update I am getting pretty much weekly OTA updates, so don't expect them to stop.

Yes, I do understand that you receive updates via OTA as bugfixes etc..

My main question was if anybody did get FW update from 1803 to 1896 via OTA or this can be done only manualy?

Where does the ota update show on the menu? I have looked but have never seen any. Do they arrive by the built in sim or is it when you connect to Wi-Fi?

You get an on screen message when there is one available for download. They arrive through built in sim.

For me comes when car connect to mobile hotspot or at night when car is or can be connected to home 2.4 GHz WiFi..

Don't have eSIM mobile data..

Mine arrive via onboard sim, I get a notification message, when I accept it it has to stop as I am usually about to drive and it wont update while driving, although one was a quick one that updated while i was at a traffic lights!! All done in the background, sadly there doesn't seem to be any list of them when they are done...

It does update while driving, it just doesn't let you read the bug fix section when the vehicle is in motion.
