Mine is dialling sos up to 3 times a day. Went to the dealer the earliest booking was 8/8/22!

Same here in Sydney, Australia. Different faults in my case but the time to have them looked at was 6 weeks.

Got the latest update to 1896. Can’t say much has changed. Still having same old problem with ACC slowing when overtaking and emergency brake assist occasionally coming on when passing parked vehicle’s.

One other thing I’ve noticed is that I had a whole list of supported swap codes disappear from the list in the maintenance menu.

@mitchec it doesn't seem to be a software issue, that can be fixed with update. You need to get your car to dealership, to get radar calibrated. Friend of mine had similar issues in Kodiaq, and it was fixed with calibration.

I think there are two different issues, the ACC issue most of us are having/had, is that the cars on the left (and showing on the left on the dash) stop you from overtaking when under ACC. It allows you to undertake cars on the right. It is also intermittent (mine was roughly 50% of the time), the cars appeared on the dash in the correct geographical position so it had nothing to do with calibration. Calibration issues would show the cars on the right of your lane, not left, if the software was working properly.

Well, i don't know of issues others are having, and still waiting to get my car.

But if you look at  the description of both issues @mitchec is having, for me it points to wrong radar calibration, especially emergency braking problem.

I had the same issues as them, its not a calibration issue. The dash shows the cars on the road in the correct place so the radar knows exactly where they are and they are correctly displayed on the dash in their lanes. The issue is that the car knows it is coming up to a car in the left lane (displayed to the left on the dash) and yet it still applies the brake as it thinks you are undertaking it. It keeps thinking the  car is being driven in Europe and thus applies the brake. It will quite happily let you undertake knowing the car is in the outside lane.... I had to video it many times to show the garage the issue, nothing to do with calibration, more to do with the software thinking it was in Europe and we were driving on the other side of the road. Although the new software has 90% fixed mine I still get the odd time when it applies the brake when overtaking (and the car shows the other vehicle on he inside lane).

Anyone know when the update will be avail OTA?

This software release has been available since 7th March 2022, but not sure how they are rolling out via OTA (slowly in batches it would seem)

I have the full update file, but would recommend letting the dealer or being patient for the OTA.
It's a tad over 9GB this update, so will surely take time to load, there's also a sequential update to take you from much earlier versions to the current in 2x steps I believe.
16xx to 17xx to 18xx

Yes, but use software only at your own risk of course.

Like any firmware update, not without risks.

Need a little time to unpack/re-pack the update.

Got updated in dealership today. Just reported issue with built in navigation not remembering home and work address, and that was enough.

So far i can tell it seems more responsive and smooth, addresses can now be saved, and now i have green LED next to SOS button, instead of red.

Haven't connected it to ODB11 yet to check if fault in Telemetry module is gone (had it before the update, and couldn't even connect to the module to check what is it).

Hi all, just my Octavia SE First Edition a couple of weeks ago, love the car but a few niggles that I can fix I have (noisy boot! Jeez)

Anyway, one thing I noticed was the headlight alignment, the driver's side seems way higher than the passengers side, I was beginning to think the car had been in a bump but couldn't see any evidence. After reading this thread it seems that a software update will fix the issue for RHD cars? Is this true? If so surely to God this is a recall matter? You'd fail an MOT!?

Thanks

It could be just as simple as incorrect alignment?

One and a half years later and it’s fixed. Don’t know if the ACC is fixed yet because that only happens randomly.

Thanks but I don't have this, think that's VRS/full led matrix models only

I've had a look, can't see where to adjust manually, does anyone know?

Another question, I have the swing head unit, can that be updated 1896 too?

Do you know what actual headlights you have?

  • Halogen
  • Xenon
  • LED
  • Matrix LED

Just need to get the other x amount of faults in the software rectified now then.

How many significant issues are there now?

For me, ACC still very occasionally goes mad, the Climate does not link if I adjust from the drivers side.. random 'Front Assist not working' and rare GPS loss... I am sure I have more but .... oh and obviously emergency brake warning when nothing is around!

Hi, my Mk4 vRs had the 1896 software version installed on Monday. I had to be quite persistent to get the dealership to request it from Skoda UK.

Noticeable changes are:

SatNav now remembers previous destinations and my home address in 'Favourites'.

Different male voice for directions in the SatNav.

SatNav now remembers to show the current speed limit, were previously it lost the connection everytime the car was switched off.

Headlight setting can now be set to 'Driving on the left'.

'Android Auto' doesn't seem to disconnect as it did regularly.

I hope this is of help.

🤣 They talk a good story, in truth after two years of 'customer' testing on the roads their software is still a bag of sh1te! In my experience this generation of Skoda (Octavia) is the worst software I have ever had in a car, no other manufacturer has had so many issues with so many functions, some safety. They are clearly not testing it sufficiently well. I have had most manufacturers cars and none come close to how bad the Mk4 Octavia is, Merc, BMW, Ford, Audi, Fiat........ you name it, rarely get any bugs in my experience and none that make the car unsafe to use the 'safety' or 'driver convenience' functions like the ACC that Skoda UK recommended I don't use until they come up with a software fix for the issues!

yes and a lot of people will agree with you.yet there is one point that you and a few others bring up the word.SAFETY if you are all right about this, does it not make you wonder why no countries have flagged this up?you would of thought at least one country  would of raised the safety point of these issues to skoda.if they have done so why has the media not raised these points?you would of least thought the likes of AA,RAC,etc would be.then if these faults have caused major accidents you would of thought the police and other emergency services would have done so too.just a thought.
