I say maybe be lucky to find a newer version by changing the number, I tried changing one number at a time AND: download/vw/MQB3_OI_JND_Europe_v1.31.50.zip to v1.31.51, v1.31.52 and at number 6 a new version was downloaded https://www.phonostar.de/download/vw/MQB3_OI_JND_Europe_v1.31.56.zip
Install and don't see any change, the required logos missing...

v1.31.56 was released last November.... I've had it a while.

The email you had sent you said the update that was meant to be released last week was v1.31.58.

I've just checked the site again and it does now have the latest version available to download as v1.31.58 (12/03/2025) so the latest update is now live.

I would assume that different models or markets have different versions of the car software. As I mentioned, there was no such version available before — the last one that @vegarz pointed out and that I could install was https://www.phonostar.de/download/vw/MQB3_OI_JND_Europe_v1.31.50.zip. When I tried increasing the version number, no newer version appeared until yesterday, when v1.31.56 was released.

The version you're checking probably doesn't start with MQB3_OI_JND_Europe in the file name, does it? If you can, please share the link you have with version v1.31.58.

The over the air ones are obviously delivered that way, whilst the Internet sourced ones aren't. Wonder if we are comparing apples to oranges in delivery method. So people on connect services may well have newer ones like the map files.

You yourself said the upcoming update was going to be v1.31.58 when you quoted the email you received.

The file name for the new update that looks to have gone live since last week is..... "MQB3_LGe_Europe_v1.31.58.zip" which is the same name as the .56 files I used a few months ago and the same as has been linked to a few times in this and another thread in the mk4 section of the forum. Bearing in mind from what I know the Infotainment in the mk4 is made by LG this file name format would fit with that.

The v1.31.58 will be the reference of the logo database packaged up in the different versions of the files for the unit. So v1.31.58 is the same logo database to the next one but different to v1.31.56 say 🫢. Clear as mud so not to be at cross purposes.

Unfortunately, this one isn't blessed with SE in the manifest file so doesn't work with Seat.

However, a Google on the part code brings up what the Russians have been up to on these units:

https://www.drive2.ru/b/652194564542564317/

The red menu is where the existing database is shown... we probably knew that. Might be some other bits and bobs in those links of interest.

I see from the read, Phonostar is pretty diabolical at having up-to-date logos even for Austria.

I'm sitting out Mib3.

Updated the Infotainment in my '22 vRS to .58 today......... Nothing much changed for the UK..... Biggest omissions IMO still are all the Hits Radio stations and all the Absolute Radio stations still completely missing.... All the small local stations in my area are included though (one of which is new and I'd never even heard of!!!!)

You got to nag phonostar radio for the missing ones. Basically they are a poor contractor to the Vag group for the logos. Poor QA from Vag not making sure that the phonostar database of logos is upto date. You see MartiniB said about deleting some. This will be where the channel has been recycled into something else so as to get that to take effect you delete what you have....

Not sure that's the issue here.... They are all national stations that I haven't had saved or been added as a favourite etc..... and that have never at any point had any logos to delete anyway. Also... The Infotainment system in the mk4 doesn't have the option to delete logos.... just the option to select either having one or not having one. I assumed that process was for the older units in previous models with the different update process and menu system.

It's annoying, I have 5 Absolute Radio stations line up as presets (70's to 00's), looks crap with no logos! If you do a search on their site they do already have all the logos too https://www.phonostar.de/radio/radiosender/alle/liste?utf8=%E2%9C%93&sort_by=relevancy&keyword=absolute . It's the same for the Heart stations

Exactly..... Really slack that they have the logos already but they can't be bothered to add them to their UK database.

It was when Times Radio opened it had a logo of Talk Radio where the delete thingey comes in. MartiniBs one would be delete the icon and re-import but if you aren't seeing anything then it won't be that.

Well the mib3 manuals, early ones told you how to import the logos like mib2 in png form but they never implemented it. Think it was all part of the lock down to prevent unauthorised access to the unit. It was the POI import in mib2 that had no signature controls on which gave rise to the tool kits and tool boxes and a dic tac came out to remove it. Other people think the same. So you got this not very well executed method which Vag probably think is dandy.

hi @fuze

I also want to fix those radios and some more. Maybe we can cooperate?

I know that something has changed with some radios (for example LRT Radijas) 2-3 years ago. I say that, because before LOGO was shown normally (from this file: LTU_20200331.zip). But now- there is no LOGO. I guess something was changed in broadcasting info. Maybe stations name?

What did you send to phonostar? Maybe they asked for more radio info? I would like to change few more station LOGOs, i.e. GoldFM, GerasFM and etc.

Hi @MartiniB

Maybe you have more information, how radio LOGOs are associated with radio stations? I don't think it is by frequencies, because in different cities, radio frequency is different. I think it should be by some radio text?

Suppose to be a digital ID but he's corrected me in the past and may be over the air jpeg for DAB. If the logo as a jpeg is never transmitted then you can see you are a bit stuffed when the station ID is recycled. Seen that in the UK. Think actually the logos are not transmitted just a station ID.

You can inspect the mib2 ones via sql light or whatever its called. I'm travelling at the minute so can't check. It's the SQL commonly used so if you have database skills you can poke about in the tables but no good to change anything. All locked down.

  • 2 weeks later...

The other thing that has come to light on the Seat side is the update over WiFi for people out of connect services contract. This occurred after an out of contract person got a firmware update over wifi. After that came a radio logo update. They connected the car to a phone's hot spot and waited. If the car is identified as being a candidate for an update, it can get it that way. Must be handshaking. Fishing for updates.

Not too sure how common that knowledge is. They said they had been looking over a number of days leaving it wifi connected. Don't think you'd get map updates that way.

I informed that I can't see certain logos. I got this answer, I tried deleting it from favorites and adding it again, nothing is the same, a lot of logos are not there.
I didn't answer anything else because, people mentioned here, I should write as VW, so I can't add any photos to them what doesn't work.

Phonostar: "I see the logo for RelaxFM & Powerhit is available in the v1.31.56.  You shared 29 logos for Lithuania - from this you see all the logos except RelaxFM & Powerhit?

If these stations are stored in the favourite(preset) list, can you please delete them from the favourite list and store/save them again? – This will solve the issue."

The delete and re save came up on SeatCupra board. That fixed it for the individual. I think this was where the virtual cockpit display didn't reflect what was on the mib3 unit. They were told to do it and it worked.

Basically the logos are in a general mess how Vag have done it not allowing users to correct it as mib2 so its always going to be like that. Only as good as the official database maintained by Phonostar if that's not correct or missing logos then it can't be user corrected.
