Software failure not so Superb

Featured Replies

I notified my dealer (Hayselden Doncaster) that I want to reject the vehicle a week ago. Sales Manager response “ what car do you want to replace it with”. I advised I need a large estate and don’t want to risk another Superb. His response “ you have to reject it through Škoda Customer service” which I knew was incorrect.

I got back in touch with the Executive Office at Škoda who confirmed it was for the dealer to send the rejection to Škoda to process and today confirmed the dealer had done that.

I wonder if anyone who has rejected a car could advise how long this process takes? I’m not driving the car currently (based on online advice about rejecting a car) so am anxious to sort out a replacement.

I’m in the same position so also interested.

I wrote to the garage to reject the car, at first they declined this was possible, then told me I could only reject it after they had had a chance to fix it, and only after the software fix had become available.

Finally persuaded them last week, with a little help from ŠKODA, that they needed to accept the rejection and they are responsible for processing the rejection.

I had three attempts by my local Škoda garage to fix it then had to give the retailing dealer 35 miles away a chance. They had it three weeks and it faulted 48 hours after they gave it back. They have sent in the rejection form to Škoda but just a waiting game.

Are your vehicles 2024 models? They said that there were such software problems in 2024 models in Türkiye. They stated that there were no software problems in 2025 models (when they changed the steering wheel) and they did not receive any complaints.

Hi, for what is is worth: I received my Superb from the dealership in early December 2024. In the first weeks, it had a series of the error messages like you experienced. Took it back for servicing in late December. They then 'reset' it - think that was just the fuse-removal you have also mentioned. Since then, no issues worth mentioning. My sense from this forum is that the earlier 2024 models have the persistent issue. So maybe an option to switch for a late 2024 or 2025 model?

Whatever you decide, hope it works for you. Sounds like all of this has been super frustrating and taken a lot of time and back-and-forth with the dealer + Skoda.

Hi all, yesterday I put a deposit down on a 74 plate 1.5 SE Technology, last night I thought to pop here to see if there was anything to be aware of. Seems there is!!! The car was registered Sept 2024 by a private owner and has only 2000 miles on it, reading this thread I'm beginning to wonder whether it is a rejected car...!! From reading the 17 pages I'm not getting the impression that the issue is resolved, is that correct? Am I likely to be buying into a heap of trouble? I can get my deposit back at this stage. Thanks.

Hi. My SE Tech was purchased new in Sep 24 and has the issues with all the alert warnings. Four attempts to rectify to no avail with no further solution offered by Škoda. It’s hard to say but it’s likely your car is a rejected vehicle given the age and mileage. Unfortunately the errors are not consistent so if you test drove it you might not see them. The only real way to know is it if is hooked up to a computer to read any error messages and see the history.

I’m not sure what the discount is on yours versus new but have you checked sites like drivethedeal as they are offering up to £8000 off a brand new model. At least that would be a 25 model and there is some belief the errors might be fixed on this one.

Hmmmm :-( Thanks for the quick reply. Car is an estate and £29k.

I paid £28k for my SE Tec estate in Sep.

Maybe ask the dealer if they sold the vehicle from New (as if it's rejected it goes back to the dealer) and if it is a rejected vehicle. Get it in an email. They would be in breach of contact if they lie.

Additionally they have access to the history of the car and you could ask to see it to view any attempts they have had to repair the vehicle. If they want the sale they should show you.

That was my thinking, many thanks for your help, much appreciated. Should have come here before paying the deposit!!

Your welcome. Best of luck. If the history shows the alert faults or they refuse to show you the history then you’ll have a reason to get your deposit back.

Since yesterday, I’ve noticed a new sound/alert in my car. More specifically, whenever the speed limit changes, a beep sounds. This sound didn’t exist until yesterday, and I’m not referring to the beep that plays when you exceed the speed limit.

I haven’t been able to find it in the list of assistants yet to see if it can be turned off. It’s annoying, especially in the city, where there are many speed limit changes, to hear yet another beep. The one that played when exceeding the speed limit was enough.

And one more new thing, I use CarPlay, and since yesterday, when someone calls me, the car speakers announce the caller’s name, but only once.

I don’t know how these two changes appeared. Indeed, I received an OTA update yesterday, but it said it was just an update for the user manual.

I had recently noticed the alert chime when the speed

Iimit changes. I wasn’t sure if I just hadn’t noticed it before so it’s interesting to hear you also think it’s new.

The sound is new, I didn't have it before. Now we have two sounds, what's next? 😂

Hi Dave,

I think this maybe the car I looked at last week, I was expecting it to be an ex-demo and was surprissed when I found out it had been returned. Anyway I decided not to proceed, more because the car wasn't for me. I did order a new hatch though from the dealer. Just wondering if you found out anything further? If you do proceed I hope all is good as it looked liek a nice car.

It's totally new!

Happened to me also. And cannot turn it off . Even when set it off in the menu.

So my rejection of my car is now complete. The dealer (Hayselden Doncaster) were not great in dealing with this and tried batting me away to Škoda Customer Service. My contact in the Executive Office at Škoda helped push them along and the car was collected yesterday. If anyone sees a silver SE Tech for sale by that dealer then beware. Now to find an alternative vehicle.

How long did it take to process? I sent a rejection letter on 25th Feb. It wasn’t until 20th March the garage submitted the cancelling paperwork to Škoda. I haven’t heard back since despite trying my best to get an update.

I rejected the car formally on 12th March but the dealer didn’t submit the rejection paperwork until 18th. They collected the car yesterday (26th) and the money hit my account today.

I did have the executive office progressing things. This was after emailing the MD [email protected] who passed it to the Executive Office.

What's next? I've heard good things about the 2024 Passat...

Problem is I got a very good price on my Superb and the Passat tops the £40k luxury car tax band. I've got a 25% discount lined up on a Cupra Leon Estate for under £30k and five years warranty so will probably bite the bullet on that. I've had a Seat Leon before and that was fine.

Dont forget the tax banding etc is based on the list price including extras and not on what you pay.
