Gear selector spring replacement

Featured Replies

Hello, I found the spring that returns the gear to the neutral position broken. It's part of the gear shift selector mechanism.

Any idea how to replace it? As, I found it riveted from one side and the other side looks like a button head rivet, maybe!

I have the same issue, did you find out how to remove the pin in order replace the spring?

Sorry never got round to it. Sons still at me but have had other numerous repairs more urgent to do.

Yes, I fix it my self.

Firstly, you need to grind off the rivet head, but be aware of the sparks.

Then you will be able to remove and replace the spring.

To reassemble it, you will need to tab drill the pin and make a screw thread inside it. And use a bolt to tighten it in place of the rivet head.
