MFD2 is IN...............

I am sure I read somewhere that you can change the DSP setting on the headunit by pressing and holding either the "flag" or "car queue" button until it bleeps. (to right hand corner)

Unfortunatly I dont think there's a visual display to tell you what it is currently set to.

Mine was 300 plus shipping.

That's the VW version which means the backlight/buttons will be in red and not Skoda green. Although that is hte DVD version (Skoda's only come as a CD option) the screen looks a bit scratched up!.

This might be a better option, but don't bid any more than £320 though! (this one is a trusted seller too as a few on here have bought one from this source )

What's the yellow connector on the back for?

White - Radio Antenna

Blue - GPS Antenna

Yellow - ?

Hello All

After my last Ebay fiasco I have managed to secure a MFD2 and I am expecting it in the next few days.

Having looked at VRStu's website installation instructions which are excellent but I am usually very poor at things like this and therefore not confident about installation and I am looking for somebody to install in the N West. Of course I would pay for this service and would like some guidance on where this can be done.

Cheers

I would suggest a car HiFi shop could help you out.

There really is nothing to it though and I'll happily answer questions if you have any - not that I am an expert myself of course!!!

My A/V adapter finally arrived from Poland yesterday and I installed it this morning in the space from removing the ashtray so it remains hidden under the flap but accessible so it is easy to get at to adjust the picture and swop leads if need be. Unfortunately the portable DVD player I also ordered hasn't arrived yet so I have no idea what the picture will be like but my Sony HD5 sounds fantastic through it. Need to do some additional wiring and switch work as the fix around losing the picture whilst the car is in motion locks the screen and controls to whatever was set when the wire receives power so you are unable to use the unit for anything else whilst its active. So just the surround to arrive now (and the DVD player!), a bit of fiddling and I'll be happy. ikkhan_2000@yah, if your struggling I will install the unit for you but I dont have VAG.COM, have only had the unit lock out the Maxidot once in 3 weeks (remove and replaced fuse to cure it) so not sure if pairing is really a requirement. Fitting only takes 20 mins max (30 if a bloody screw falls into the stream unit whilst removing it:( ) I'm 5 mins from J22 M62.

Which one did you get out of interest?.

you can plug anything into it as it uses 3 standard phono connectors. All you need is a twin phono to 3.5mm jack plug lead, it wont allow the unit to control the ipod like the denison adapter but then again the denison doesnt allow you to connect any other mp3 player to the stereo.

Hi Justdoit,

I PM'd you re your offer to help fit thanks alot I will probably take you up on that when I recieve the MFD2, I will contact you nearer the time.

Many Thanks

I have just had a Nokia Carkit fitted. Whilst the guy was at it he said he would "tidy up" the arial - which was currently just under the ticket holder.

He moved it to just above the climate control sensor in the centre of the dash.

I am now getting irratic lose of signal, NO FIX, 2D fix, NO FIX, 3D Fix etc...

He suggests I put it back to the old position as its likely to be because the Screen is coated which is blocking the signal. I immediatly said that it does not look to be coated?

is it coated ? I am sure other people have placed theirs in a similar position.

I'll get a picture lunchtime

Car 06 MY Elegance Estate.

I get a reasonable signal and mine is under the dash as per vRStu's website - so probably under where yours is. It did get confused one time when I was on a road parallel to the M4 and it thought I was *on* the M4, tho...

Do you mean in the middle on top? That's where Ian (Hedge) has put his, he posted a pic somewhere, may even be in this thread.

I don't seem to have any issues with it under the dash and the signal is strong.

I wonder if the connector is fitted properly.

I have moved it now from the front of the sensor (nearest the windscreen) to be to the right side of it.... now working much better

if you look at the shape of the dash it slops up towards the screen causing the top side of the arial to be facing the rear of the car - hence the problem?

Mine still lives on the offside part of the dash on the metal grille, signal is always excellent there.

I think a lot depends on the GPS receiver, if it's a cheapo one then you may get signal problems when it's out of direct sight of the satellites.

In order to resurrect an ages long thread...

This morning I decided to have compass mode enabled on my short journey to work. Most of the time I had No Fix, some of the time I had 2d and rarely I had 3d. Flicking back to the map it never lost track of where I was, tho. I've only ever checked the signal outside of my house before and always had 3d fix. Perhaps it was the overcast weather?

Hmmm...

Not for too much longer. I plan to hide it in the dash sometime in the near future.

The ABS sensors tell the nav unit where you are going even if the GPS drops out, a big advantage over the windscreen sucker based systems

Mine is STILL on the top of the dash and working perfectly. If it ain't broke............:D
