new photos of octavia II

Featured Replies

Looks new (and good) to me.

It looks nice, but i'm more concerned by what the bald man was doing to Michael Jackson on the websites front page!

Hmmm not bad - much better than the photoshop monstrosity we saw the other day - touch of Volvo S60 about the front methinks. The rising waistline at the side makes me think Astra, unfortunately. Otherwise a good effort. Still very conservative, as you'd expect from Skoda, but maybe that's what their customer base likes - if we wanted wacky styling we'd buy a Renault or a Nissan ... :p

I think the first link needs a health warning about ONLY looking at the Skoda article! Nuff said. redface.gif

PS I like the Octavia II pics too.

Pics of the new Skoda Superb estate look good too.

The octy pic in the 2nd link looks remarkably like a photoshopped superb to me. But then again the pics look fairly simillar to those posted in the autoexpress article from sa but the rear window profile is different.

I like the look of the Superb Combi too. Monster car!

I can't find the superb estate, I'm very dumb :confuse: when i'm reading german could someone paste the link for us!!!

Thanks

Matt

Looks nice, but is totally fake.

Look closely and you can see it is a composite.

Looks convincing enough to me, but I should point out that Stern was the magazine that claimed the Hitler Diaries were genuine.

I agree, the photos do look a little artifical - the "Skoda Mini" looks as if someone as just cut and pasted the Fabia grille and lights onto a Lupo using MS Paint .....

On a totally different track, I wonder how much work would be required to get my doors to open like these :

...certainly make parking in tight spaces less of a backache... and the bonnet vents look smart .... :jumpsmile

Thanks for posting the link. Thats a big car, if you had one of them you wouldn't need a house. Does it look taller than the saloon?

Oh dear, Oh Dear, Oh Dear.........

Presently I drive a 406 SRi; lovely car, loves the dealership, goes regularly. So.... 2 Weeks back we'd decided we'd had enough, it has to go. I

've always had an eye on the vRS, test drove one last week and bang! (no it didnt blow up) I was hooked.

But now?!?!?

The new one looks ultra sexy, I'm torn between buying now and waiting...

Buying now - I can aim for a lead-out discount, hit the dealer hard and hope they can get me a Red vRS, Parking sensors and Xenons. Buy it cheap and trade up in 12 months. Given of course that they will cut a deal....

or

Waiting - Wait for the launch, hope the 180bhp vRS diesel makes its debut and go for that. I'm expecting the price of Octavia 2 to be higher, thoughts anyone?

So, I'm open to opinions and suggestions? (relating to the car obviously !)

Regards

Jeff (Yes, another one!)

PS - My first post, hopefully not my last.

I thought skodalingalong was good but DonkeyOaty is priceless! Welcome to Briskoda.

The trouble is that apart from the Auto Express scans we don't really know what the new Octavia will be like. Even the engine line up seemed a bit vague. Personally I'd go out tomorrow and buy the current RS, I think it's a bit soon for the 'You're changing the model' tack though because the dealers probably have less info on the new one than we do.

Also, you can't get the RS with Xenons.

The book says I can and so did the dealer??

I can accept the book could be old but the dealer was a young lad...

Whilst at a local dealer today I had an interesting chat with the sales manager. Apparently all the pictures doing the rounds on the net of the Mk II Octy are NOT officially sourced and Skoda (VAG) are keeping tight lipped about what the car will finally look like - even dealers are being kept in the dark.

Anyway, the good news is that the Mk II Octy will be launched in June / July of this year but will not include a new vRS version. The current vRS will run on possibly for another year or so after the launch date. The bad news is that whether a hot Mk II Octy will be available is subject to some debate and he couldn't be anymore specific...

OK, I'll change that to 'I don't think you can get the RS with Xenons.'

I always thought Xenons were only available on the WRC version.

Anyone?

Rich , I would imagine that if you are prepared to pay, and if you are prepared to wait for the car to be built to "order" , then why not ?................anyway I'm not going to argue with someone who has such a cool "user" name :smileypul

They are on the options list now for new builds, along I think with heated seats... :nerd:

...heated seats.....tried them out in my sisters Audi TT over Christmas.

Kind of felt like you've wet your trousers....not that I'd know of course.....

Seems only logical. I expect that the new RS (and 4x4) will only appear in 2006, maybe even 2007, if it does. So plenty of time to get an old one...

The news that the old RS/4x4 models will continue to be built for some time is also very plausible, as they come from the specials factory at Vrchlab
