Steve, got my sticker in the post yesterday, thanks a million

Printed off 2 x all info at lunch today.

Road side assistance cover

We have just come to an arrangement with RAC re discount for Freedom members on uk assistance and european assistance..

Hopefully Colin will post it up in Freedom section asap.

Any news on this as I'm with RAC @ the moment and want to take full advantage?

Been to Vizual Impact today to get the rest of my decorations added ;)

Have just printed off maps off all the google nav points. You can actually copy/paste the numbers into google maps - just taking out the word, "latitude:" :) Very handy.

If you read the documents in the drivers pack - if you have them then you have Europe cover if you are within your three years. If anyone needs a copy I can scan it when I get home. It's now administered by the RAC. The little booklet has the phone numbers on.

I phoned Skoda Customer Services today, as my booklet was from the AA days.

They confirmed the UK number is still 0800 526625, but for Europe they gave me 00 33 472 43 52 55 (which is different to the one in my booklet).

If you get chance Stu, a scan of the new booklet might be useful to some of us.

Got EU breakdown cover for

I'll try to scan the info later - if I can get my bl00dy computer working.

Some more notes from the trip, now we are home -

If you are using an MFD/MFD2 with either major roads of Europe or Germany disk then you'll need to use Waidhaus as your destination, which is on the border, before switching to the Czech and Poland disk.

Coming back out and using the Czech and Poland disk head for Rozvadov before switching disks.

If you have early disks then there are some new roads that may not be on them. Steve will be using my 2007/2008 Disks so hopefully he'll have it sussed.

I would avoid the top half of the Brussels Ring Road like the plague, last year we were caught in traffic going down and so we came back via Liege and Lille. This year we went down that way and thought we'd try going over the top coming back - bad move. Make your decision at Aachen coming back.

When leaving junctions on the Autobahn make sure to slow right down as they are often very short and have sharp turns.

I have some booklets that detail the service stations and their facilities as well as their positions on the roads. I'll pass them to Steve.

Anyone thinking of bringing back some Duty Free weed then the garage at Aachen is almost half the price of the shops at Calais.

Those that use the VAG screenwash should take some with you, we used a litre of mixed on the way down.

Speeding - We saw a few unmarked German Police 3 series BMW's dealing with Victims. We saw one manned German Police speed trap, quite a sly one too. There are speed camera's but hopefully ;) you'll hear nothing of them but that's only hearsay. There is also some sort of Specs average speed system around some of the Prague main roads.

From Praha 1 to Koln took us 5 hours 40 which is 440 miles. Average speed on the MaxiDot was 77mph

Praha 1 to Calais took 9 hours 30 which is 700 miles. Avarage speed was 73mph and 33mpg

Overall trip was 2089 miles, 35 hours 3 total driving time. Average speed 60mph and 33.2mpg. This includes all of our around town driving etc.

How much was your fuel bill stu ?

You should expect to pay around

We weren't hanging around Chris.

Where possible cruising speed was 110 - 120.

But your average was 33mpg thats dam good going for those kinda speeds.

once you get to a speed and hold it there you be suprised how well your mpg is. its the harsh accelerating that eats away at the mpg ;)

Well someone else can do the driving if they're planning to do 110 through Belgium, I like my licence, thanks!

Perhaps you take the word possible to literally Nick.

Try reading 'possible and permissible' instead.

Here is the Skoda Assist info -

I've just bought the InsureAndGo policy, so we'll see how they fare up ;) (or rather, I hope NOT to test out their policy  )

Only need to get some continental headlamp adjusters and then I'm good to go!

Although I conveniently forgot to buy some Korunas :)

How much cash should we carry around? Would 5000CZK (~
