  1. Yesterday a good friend of mine needed a lift to Morecambe to collect his new Ioniq 5 Project 45. I took the opportunity to have a proper trip in the Enyaq, a test drive of the Ioniq and a wee head to head test on the way home. https://youtu.be/aPkbx3Zhb_A
  2. I think you may be surprised to hear that the fabric is not dyed, it's one of the optional colourways that the comfort model came with at the time, it was either the default dark grey outers with light grey inners - which came with black door panels, or the customers could choose blue or red colourways as well. At the time the majority of conservative buyers went with the default grey but we supplied a number with the red and blue trim. Not normally on a car in Admiral Blue metallic like this one i admit. We supplied a number of Corrida red comforts to a company with the red trim, and a number of private buyers had the blue trim with Laser blue exterior - looked ok in fairness. At the time it was easy to order these odd colour combos on the Skoda dealer ordering system, although the factory did tend to build the majority with the grey. I think the home made stitching on the seat of the car in question in the OP is a red herring, looks like the seat was falling apart to me.
  3. Happened on this old post in the graveyard. Thank you for all the advice. In case anyone were interested it dragged on several months. I had Skoda e-sure (or whatever) handling a lot of liaison for me and they were very valuable. I used a repairer of my choice (VW centre) and a like-for-like hirecar - all of which meant I had to pay a considerable amount up-front. Nothing happened for a long time, insurers didn't request the police report, until finally at my insistence they did. In hindsight, I should have obtained it myself months earlier. I submitted photos of the roundabout's new layout (google was outdated) as well as photos of vehicle's rest location and a short vid of the other party's comments at the scene. I suspect the report differed significantly from the other party's account. Once shared, the other party's insurers immediately folded and paid in full for repairs, excesses, like-for-like hire-car and minor injury - just leaving me with higher premiums for 5 years.
  4. And what is not to love about Mystery (or was it Mystic?) Beige on the Elegance. Like falling over into a molten Caramac...
  5. No worries, i'm trawling through memories from years ago TBH, 2004 feels like yesterday but is far from it!! I've been to bed a lot since then. Wino - I've no idea what the twin letters mean, sometimes the ETKA system makes complete sense, other times less so.
  6. Order the fuel filler sticker from the other poster above that had 18'' and 19'' inch listed. Part number:- 3V0. 010 000 AP Then stick that in your cars fuel filler cover. Thanks, AG Falco
  7. Stupidity can be very costly.
  8. Assuming the vari-flex seats in Karoqs are similar to those in Roomsters and Yetis, they will not release unless the seats are in the fully rearward position. On one of my Roomsters, I had to sit in the seat and shuffle it hard back in order to get it to go fully rearward.
  9. @Steviedakota No coding, easy swap. It's located just behind the plastic grille under the passenger side (RHD) wiper. If you look closely in the area of the red circle below, you'll see the wiring. Pull the rubber trim back (blue arrow), undo the clips (green arrows), remove the plastic cover, undo the wiring from the sensor, pop the sensor off it's bracket, pop the new sensor in, connect the wiring, put the cover back on, clear the faults and you're done.
  10. My ultimate favourite Fabia Mk1 interior was the LCV version, the Praktik. Based on the Europe only "junior" edition, it made do without glovebox or radio, just had storage pockets. Speaking of the Junior model, here she is! They even fitted the slightly larger diameter Octavia Mk1 4 spoke steering wheel as these 1.0 OHV models didn't have power steering either..

While my problems were not as serious as many of yours, including the dreaded KMH/MPH issues, I am glad to say that they were eventually cured. See my thread "Aussie RS owner with software problems". They turned out eventually, it seems, to be hardware problems since they were cured by replacing the infotainment control unit. That it took 3 months is regrettable but now I am happy with my Octavia and I look forward to driving it more when we get out of the lockdown that we have endured for over two months now.
  12. Normal DOT4 or DOT5.1 will be just fine. The "ESP" fluid to be compatible with ABS etc is just a slightly thinner than normal brake fluid, this is to allow the ESP and ABS to operate fully in extremely cold temperatures, so unless you live somehwere really cold it is not an issue and normal DOT4 or DOT5.1 is just fine. Cheers, Guy.

Well, if you think that an underbonnet fuel fire is "slow-acting and therefore probably safely ignored"...
  14. The Auto gearbox or Automated gearbox discussion has gone on for years. The difference is that in the evolution of humans the left foot might become redundant and the muscles in the leg might wither. If you want to use your right or left hand depending on left or right hand drive to move the Auto boxes shifter while driving you can. If all passenger cars become auto then expect drivers around the world to be nearer the average weight of North Americans. Do away with manual boxes and wider seats will be necessary.
  15. I'm also in the minority. I find that the more stuff gets automated, the lazier drivers become, myself included. It's the first step to fully eliminating the human from the equation.
  16. damn....so the facelift Superb doesn't get an AUX jack either?!??! MIB3 is for the most part buggy. No CD-drive No SD-Card No AUX jack wowsers....Skoda has gone backwards with connectivity options!!

The other thing to remember, and my experience over 19 years ove being on here is that Briskoda is about more than just Skoda's... Its a real 'community', albeit a virtual, worldwide, one. That's why so many people stick around even though they no longer own a Skoda...
  18. As its not possible to get car you want from stock in Ireland , I got what I can afford the best and will retrofit as much extra I can afford List is doable for now: 1) ACC as our cars have front radar for automatic brakes , it is possible to recode/swap coding of the radar to work as ACC distance meeter as swap stalk / steering control module. Steering module is on its way. 2) Digital cockpit. Sitting on the table and waiting to be installed/recoded. Got it here https://www.facebook.com/groups/441582886578377 3) Borderless mirror , I had one retrofitted on my SUP3 and its brilliant. Mirror on its way as well. 4) Arches black protective trim. Not purchased yet , waiting for funding 5) Another thing I am missing very much is front parking sensors. Did not purchase yet. Dealer denied to install and offered instead cheap Chinese (no offence ) alternative. 6) In some stupid reason I got Low end low resolution RVC without trajectory :( Need to swap to High end one , but not quite sure if I need new wiring or not. Maybe ( I hope ) just door handle with camera swap. 7) Alcantara sport steering wheel left from Superb. Might need to swap buttons from current steering wheel to sport one due to this "View" Button . 8) And at last but not least will be chip-tuning. Still in the progress of selecting best map. Always have alternative to go to trusted old one garage (where I did already 3 cars) but maybe its time to look at something new , like Powergate3 as example?
  19. Brilliant, absolutely brilliant!
  20. And..... I am keeping the Golf, The Golf flew through its MOT a few Weeks ago and had Minor Service with Oil & Filter change using Genuine VAG Quantum Longlife 3 5W30 Oil & Bosch Oil Filter with New Genuine Sump Plug. The Car had a Major Service last September and Brake Fluid changed when I had the Calipers replaced so didn’t really need anything else and I have only done around 6500 Miles since buying it a Year ago. Next job in October is the Timing Belt, Water Pump & Auxiliary Belt. Then it will be going back into Winter mode with its Steelies. Why am I keeping the Golf? I have had an absolute nightmare finding a Car to replace it with and as I have a bit of time spare this evening I am going to share my experiences over the past 6 Weeks with you with you about the Cars I have viewed, Bought and even rejected... 1. Skoda Octavia VRS TDI, 66 Plate Car located in Louth at a VW Specialist. Very Low Mileage with less than 20K and described as totally immaculate. The Drivers Side Sill had been Repainted very badly with most of the overspray all over the OSR Rear Suspension Arm, Handbrake Cable and Wheel Arch Liner. 2. Another identical Car to number 1, Thankfully this was located local to me and I was in the area so no time wasted. Absolute shed though, Covered in Dents, Chips and Scuffs. Interior was not very nice either. 3. 2016 Ford Focus ST-3 TDCI Estate in Stealth Grey located at Inchcape VW Altrincham/Manchester, It was an 18000 Mile Car and looked stunning in the images but while I was actually there viewing the Car one of the Valeters pulled it off a Display Ramp on the forecourt for me to view the Car properly and ground the front bumper on the floor. I expressed my frustration and wasted journey to the sales manager who offered a Smart Repair but the Bumper looked mis-aligned to me as and was bowing out on one side and the panel gap between the Bumper and Wing was well out...Basically a Bumper off Job and possibly a New Bumper to make it 100%. 4. Skoda Octavia VRS 230, 66 Plate, 44000 Miles, Located at Listers VW in Leamington Spa. I was sent a video of the Car, Loads of images and so I thought it was worth the trip down. Instantly I could see the Car was a bit rough around the edges, Wheels needed refurbing, Bad Smart repair on the Rear Bumper, Damaged Window Seals and was missing Services in the History so walked away. 5. While viewing Car number 4, On my way back to Sheffield I called to Listers Skoda in Coventry to view an 8000 Mile, 69 Plate Octavia VRS DSG 245. The Car I couldn't fault at all and would have bought it however the Salesman I dealt with was a complete bell-end. From the word go I was given the impression that as I had not made an appointment and just turned up I was a massive inconvenience to the Staff there, I was given the Keys and left to look around the Car I had gone to view. The Chap I dealt with came outside and asked me if it was a Diesel I was specifically after? I told him the Car in front of us is actually a Petrol VRS which is what I was after and straight away he began to disagree telling me I had made a mistake and that it was a Diesel. Then proceeded to get into the Car, Start the engine and revved it before getting out and saying that I was infact correct and it was a Petrol. We went inside and I pointed out that the price in the Screen on the Car was in fact £300 more than what the Car was advertised for on their Website and on the Approved Used Skoda Network, Again he disagreed with me and said the price in the Windscreen was correct. We got down to the numbers and he offered me an extended Warranty, Service Plan etc going forward and then asked how I was funding the purchase and I said with Cash/Card Payment from Savings. He immediately said for me to forget the extended Warranty and Service plan as that was only available to buyers that went on Finance, Then went on to tell me that I should leave my money in the Bank and get the Car on finance which I found very rude as he had absolutely no right to tell me what I should or shouldn't do with my money. I should have walked out at this point but I really liked the Car and decided to make a very reasonable offer which to be fair was inline with other similar age/mileage examples on the Approved Used Skoda Network and given I wasn't eligible for the Warranty/Service Plan etc I felt I should haggle a bit and at this point he went online to look at the Figures and said I was correct about the price difference Online vs in the Window and then said that I could have it for the Online Price as it was already discounted by £300 which I knew it wasn't. He then turned his Monitor round and pointed out that 11 People where watching the advert on approved used website and that with that much interest in the Car he was confident if I didn't buy it someone else would, I told him that although 11 People are watching it those 11 People are not sat in the Showroom offering to buy the Car however I was and would have put a deposit on the Car there and then. He wasn't interested in me as a Customer and that came across quite clearly, I stood up and walked out at this point. Guess what, They still have not sold that Octavia Today over a Month since I viewed it and they have now reduced it even further to a price I would have paid for it on that day. 6. Skoda Octavia VRS 230, 66 Plate 33K Miles, After all of the hassle travelling around viewing all of the above Cars I made the Cardinal Sin of buying a Car without seeing it in the flesh. I bought it from a Skoda Independent located in Southampton after spending Hours on the phone asking countless questions, Seeing 15-20 mins of HD Video and loads of images I decided to go for it. It arrived and although I had the Thread deleted off here which I made I rejected the Car within 5 Mins, I had paid for it Delivering on a Transporter and it was driven 300 Miles by a less than desirable character. The Car was simply not as described and basically needed the Front End Repainting due to excessive Stone-Chipping which I was not told about. So the Car was rejected, Collected by the same Bloke who dropped it off and he decided to have a pop saying it was all a waste of his time and because I had rejected the Car he wasn't going to get paid. I gave him a F-Off Tablet and once my Money was refunded gave him the Keys and asked him to get off my property. Serves me right though for been lazy, I won't ever buy anything based on someone elses opinion ever again as People are just out to mis-lead you and rip you off. 7. VW Golf GTI Performance Pack, 16 Plate, 30K Miles. Drove down to Parkway VW in Derby to view this. Instantly I could see it was not a very nice Car Cosmetically so didn't bother asking for anymore information on that Car. 8. Whilst in the Derby area I had another Car lined up to view, Skoda Octavia VRS 245, Similar to the Challenge with all the Toys on a 2018 Model with just 18000 Miles. I had been talking to the Dealership the Night before and told them I was in the area the following day and at that time the price was £19990, I rang the Dealer after viewing Car number 7 and said I would like to come a view the Car. I pulled up and saw the price in the Window of £21300 and was met by another Jobsworth with a beaming smile painted on, I mentioned the Cars price increase and he simply said "Everything's gone up" I told him I was interested but at the original price as I wasn't prepared to ay another £1300 for no reason and he said there was no negotiation on that Car and that £21300 was the price. So I calmly walked out with my fists clenched ...Another wasted journey. And they have now since reduced the Car back down to £20300 a Month on. 9. Skoda Octavia VRS 230, 66 Plate, Meteor Grey and just 15000 Miles! located at Border Skoda Dumfries. I saw this and actually got excited as you might have noticed I have been after One of these. I actually put a deposit on this as the Dealership was closed last Sunday and I didn't want to miss out, I was sent a load of Images and a Video and I was planning on going up to view the Car Today. Salesman said the Car had Full Skoda Service History and I asked to see the Printout. Too good to be true, The Car was never Serviced until it was 3 Years old which was disappointing. Got my Deposit back, I didn't even bother getting into a discussion about the fact the Car clearly doesn't have Full Service History and that it doesn't qualify to be an Approved Used Skoda in the first place. 10. Golf GTD Estate, 66 Plate, 33K Miles. This was located at DACE Specialist Cars in Stockport. A supposed German Car Specialist. This was a Telephone enquiry, The Car is 5 Years old so is due its Timing Belt changing. The Salesman who thought he knew everything would not have it that the Timing Belt was due and kept quoting the Mileage and not the Interval that it was due. I could here him banging his keyboard and eventually he agreed it was due but that they wouldn't be prepared to do it anyway. I told him to stick the Car up his Rectum and hung up. German Car Specialists my backside. 11. Last One, I promise. VW Golf GTI Performance Pack, 66 Plate, 19K Miles. This was at an Independent located near Birmingham and had been traded in. One elderly Owner from New, Looked absolutely stunning and Full VW Service History done every 4000 Miles. I thought, This sounds like a winner and well worth viewing! It took them 3 Days to get me pictures of the Service Book as they couldn't answer what the Car had actually had done when Serviced. I quickly realised that the Car had been Serviced by VW every Year but had only had a Basic Lubricant Oil/Filter change each time and nothing else. Not to worry, I rang the Dealer and said I was still interested but that the Car never had its Brake Fluid done at 2 & 4 Years, Never had Spark Plugs at 4 Years, Never had the VAQ Differential Service at 3 Years and that it was also due a Coolant change as its now 5 Years old. I was happy to get all of the work done myself if the Car was as good as it looked in the pictures and had quotes from VW of £550-£600 to get all the work done as it was overdue. Given the Car was up at £21000 and was priced £1000 too high for a non VW Main Dealer, I asked for some money off the Car to contribute towards the Work doing OR if they would be happy to get it all done at their expense and I would pay the asking price. They wouldn't budge a penny or agree get any of the work done, Even though they agreed the Car was infact overdue for all the above work. This for me was the final straw. I have honestly never struggled so badly to buy a used Car, Over the Years I have now owned over 45 Performance Cars ranging from 5 Years old to 20 Years old and I totally get that sometimes you have to view a couple before finding the right example but this time has just been a nightmare. Been a bit old school and saving my Money for Car/Motorbike purchases means that whatever I buy is not just to fuel my Hobby but also it is an investment and I pamper whatever I buy. Not all but I think the Majority of people nowadays that get Cars on PCP and then hand them back after 24/36 Months just don't look after them, They use and abuse them and then hand them back. Then I come along and see a 1 Owner Car at a Main Dealership, Full Main Dealer History and then go and view it and its a total shed and when some of these Cars are over £20K in Money I really expect perfection for my money because if I had bought a Brand New Car and ran it for 2/3 Years it would be going back onto a Forecourt wanting nothing. I have bought £4000/5000, 10 Year old Cars in the past which have had 4-5 Owners and have been Cosmetically and Mechanically better looked after. Even my current Golf in this Thread was far superior to any of the Cars I have viewed over the past 6 Weeks and that was the catalyst for wanting to keep it. Why should I spend 4 x Times the amount that the Golf is worth for something that doesn't tick all the right boxes? So I would like to thank you for reading, Apologies if I have gone on but I needed to vent.
  21. If I wanted to listen to some music it would be cheaper to hire a band than buy one XLR. I'd need 2 cables for my amp anyway, so I could hire a support band as well!
  22. Well, finally wheels are sorted. Autec Clubracing 17x7,5 et35 Wrapped in falken azenis rt615k+ 215/40/17 will be purchasing another set for the road, most likely the silver ones because this wheel only weights 7.7 kg a lot less than the original gigaros IMG_6214.MOV
  23. Another which we never got over here. Fabia Mk1 Tour de France edition. I "think" only available in Lemon Yellow and had rather fetching Bright Yellow (with a subtle black edge) seat belts. I tried for months to get TPS to find a set of belts for my Yellow vRS but alas they are discontinued.
  24. On a roll now... LHD Market only, Fabia 100 Edition, came with vRS bumpers, chrome exhaust trim, and almost white / grey plush leather, like the UK model Mk1 Superb 100 Edition..
  25. If you want weird and wonderful interior shots, i had this saved on my pc, i think it was a design study for the Fabia vRS, although I may be wrong on it. The exterior looks race blue to me so that dates it at 2006/7 I guess? The seats look like vRS/Bohemia/Sport items with F/L Ambient cloth centres but piping on the edges? Could even be white / silver leather edges? Gear knob was F/L Sport item, Knee bars i've not seen on any Skoda but the wheel and the clocks look great!
  26. As others have mentioned the two big things that regularly catch people out on these is 1. the DSG used on that model (Arguably less reliable 7SP dry clutch dsg). Even if it has had the oil change and 2. oil usage issues from scraper rings clogging. Both are hard to spot or anticipate before they rear their head. In the oil case of engine oil usage, it often shows up after you've driven 1,000 miles and a month or two, engine oil light comes on and makes it hard to get traction with the used dealer due to time constraints and "further proof" being required. Arguments and lots of time about the issue and the fix required ensues. In some cases to get any resolution requires independent engineer assessment and court action...... Not every single engine is affected and compression testing will not show the issue. A borescope may give some indication as to the level of oil fouling in the cylinder / valves but the oil usage test is the only thing that skoda uses in the TPI for the issue to diagnose, assuming other checks for oil leaks prove negative.
  27. VWG systems have a lot of legacy (aka ancient technology) it is too expensive to start from scratch and too disruptive to migrate to new systems. Many big organisations suffer the same problems, BA, JLR, banks and Govt, MOD etc.. Critical systems too important to fail but no easy way to upgrade or budget to do so. It is really quite scary what is under the hood in many companies. 😳
  28. Thanks Lofty! I had seen it before actually but I wasn't sure if it was another DIY one but I also got a hold of the options catalogue and sure enough, it's there. Thank you for clearing that up though!
  29. @Lofty I guess they'd be the ones referred to here by the different colour names in the 'title' column here: seat - Fabia(FAB) [EUROPA 2002 year] (7zap.com) Any idea what the -XX letter pairs refer to in the 'note' column? I've seen them before on a few EKTA pages and never found out what they mean.
  30. Won't fit ur non-AWD Superb. Return it and get the GTi version.
  31. I couldn't believe how long it took the dealer to log in to the system and get to the correct bit to find out what had happened to my car, it was a good 5 minutes from the start to the screen that showed it was at Stage 20, he's been at the dealer 7 years so I don't think it was that he was inept at getting to the right bit. Looks as though it's a really clunky system and if he had to go through that rigmarole for every car that was on order I can understand he'd be a bit reluctant as it seemed a huge waste of time. He did say to ignore anything from Skoda UK as their communications were not entirely up to scratch, I'd had the email some time ago telling me that my car "Will soon be in production" and that the next email would be when it was in production, it never came even though the car was actually built!
  32. The same dirt/ road spray that requires you to wash the windscreen to see also obscures the headlights. The headlight washers on my previous yeti that had xenons and my current Kodiaq with LED’s keep the light clean with no problems. Perhaps if they are making a mess, it’s down to the screenwash used.

The Chancellor in the UK might come up with another scrappage scheme. The only way there might be a lowering of emissions might be if more older cars go off the road permently. The thing is that the over 2 decade old petrol cars often get as good or better fuel economy than euro 4,5 or 6 engine cars. They might be doing less mileage annually and are better cared for and maintained.
  34. Wrong place - the USB cabling for the back is powered off a loop from the 12v socket in the centre binicle.
  35. @OldAndyMac the clue is in the top posting. I suspect you haven't enabled up the Sound channel properly and have either accidently disabled sound or put it into a mode that is not supported when trying to enable Skoda Surround. I did this recently (by accident). Try setting the sound output to mode hex01 (internal_sound) and see if the sound comes back.
  36. Yes; other notifiable modifications probably refer to things like change of engine, change of suspension medium (but going from multi-leaf to parabolic springs using the same shackle points and axle perches is a change of medium within the meaning of the relevant legislation).
  37. 1 point
Sorry, I should have been clearer. What I was trying (and failing) to convey was don’t make assumptions based on another similar engine. It could be an ancillary or anything else besides the base engine that’s the cause of an issue Like you, I did notice the early fsi engines on the VW cars listed, but not others and thought it odd.
  38. 1 point
I used the larger nut at the top as ground for my dashcam install. Can't comment on the boot.
  39. It was only a rule for Xenons, because their beam can get distorted by dirt and blind people.
  40. On this page : https://forums.ross-tech.com/index.php?threads/16423/ an Octavia owner in 2018 found a way to control this by changing the delay after pressing the windscreen washers before the headlamp washers came on - from 0 msec to 200 msec. Perhaps this approach can also be applied to the Mk IV - for those who apply coding changes. There are other such pages returned by this web search: skoda octavia disable headlamp washer
  41. +1 for me too. Prior to getting Eibach Prokit springs, I was always in Individual mode with the settings below, similar to urs @MartiniB. After I got the Eibach springs, I was in Normal mode most of the time, except when I was tackling a very bumpy road, or lots of speed bumps. After I got the DCC recalibration done, I'm always in Normal mode now. I rarely put the car in Sport mode unless I'm tackling windy twisty roads.

I own a Superb now and frequent the Superb forum. I got a lot of help and useful info on the Octavia forum when I had mine. I don't find it problematic to look in on here and chip in to help people on the Octy forum, if you look you'll find plenty by me just this week trying to help people. Part of that may involve urging people not to buy one, having experienced the worst car I have ever owned in the Octavia MK4. To repay my debt and help people is why I am here I guess.
  43. Points gap closes, leaning to loss of power, and eventually engine stopping. Points spring breaks, meaning no spark. Points spring remains intact, but points stick open. You can also get loss of timing (but that also applies to electronic ignitions).
  44. I just need to change mine to B16s at some point if I can ever find out what the difference is on the rears.
  45. 1 point
I don’t think he said that at all. He said the dealer finally solved it, but the screen had got scratched by all the dry wiping.
  46. I spoke to my dealer today. Apparently my car was built as planned last week (yay!) and it left the factory this Monday. So if all goes well in transit it should be here in about a month.
  47. As above, please direct all posts to the E10 thread mentioned. I'm going to lock this thread so we don't have a proliforation of threads on the same subject.

My Superb Sportline plus came with black badges hopefully that means you can get a black Skoda badges but I’m not sure if your model would be avaliable
  49. Got a shot on the front cover of a mag! Not quite Rankin yet, though I’m chuffed
  50. Not posted in a while here, changed my gear had a Canon 5D4 for a while which was superb, now gone mirrorless with an R5 and some RF glass. Taking a while to get used to it. A few shots below.
