    Picked up my VRS this evening. Coming from a 2018 Octavia VRS the wait has been 100% worth it. Massive difference in quality and I'm over the moon! What a car, is it really a Skoda? Feels like a totally different car. Ordered in April. Diesel 2.0 DSG VRS in Moon White.
  3. Taken along the A713 near Parton last night from the window of a moving Dacia Duster. Just used my phone, a Samsung Galaxy S7 to take the photograph. I was a passenger, before anyone panics.

  5. The boot liner i bought years ago from TPS, not hugely expensive from memory. Now no longer available I'm afraid. Same story with the boot storage bags, got them off a friend who had a vRS Fabia from new then broke it for spares, they'd been in his boot for 13 years and never been used, so thought they'd fit in just fine on mine, and continue not to be used...

  7. Newbie here. Bought this a couple of months ago. Had a few things changed. Tints,fins,gloss black rims,had a custom badge made,de-badged. Still a few things to change but slowly. Love the car and the drive.

  11. I agree Minigill! Having spent a bit of time looking over the brochure it works for the S and SE Comfort models where buyer will probably not bother with any extras. I am not impressed though for those of us looking to personalise their choice. I think I am now going to go for my 2nd choice - a Scala SE with quite a few extras. The Scala has the bigger boot I’m after, a £2250 deposit contribution and is an established model. Still have to bear the 6 to 9 month lead time. It will work out a fair bit cheaper for me as well. I wish I hadn’t waited for the Fabia to be honest.

I have a thermometer (fat white pill thing in the pic) dangling in what I think is possibly the hottest part.. it links to my phone via an app and I can dynamically monitor the temperature (and make charts too, if I can work out how). I was hoping to find out the difference, with regard to temperature, between OE and what I have now - should have planned it better and I'd have known..

  16. Yup, on the back of the unit in the glove box. I think it's probably the yellow fakra IIRC. I can't see any reason for them to have disturbed the connector below the climate panel 😕 Might be worth contacting the fitter and asking them to check for you?
  17. I read Max had a catalogue of excuses as to why he didnt beat Bottas, the steering wheel wasnt straight. The gear indicator wasnt in the right mode. The tyres wore out. Yawn. How about, "I was too slow today" I'd believe and respect that one.

  19. so I ended up with a 4x4 TDI combi. Pretty happy after an alignment and a new set of tyres (which the seller paid for). Consumption similar to the old Octy is also OK, especially since it's now a diesel - though a few km/h seems to make a big difference in those numbers over 110km/h - I'll be doing some testing in the near future. First up, though, is more light as we're moving up north so there's a lot of driving in the darkness to be done.

  21. XZN by the sound of it, but be aware that these are sized in a confusing way. The 'M' number of the bit doesn't (always/necessarily/ever??) equate to the thread size 'M' number. (koueitrading.com) If you measure corner to corner on the head you can work out what size bit you need:
  22. Black OEM Air filter boxes like some cars have sitting at the back corner of an engine compartment can get very hot inside. Dark Bonnet closed and sitting in traffic with sun beating down, or before or after a Sprint or Run up a 1/4 mile. Many ways to get intake temps, OBD etc, i use the simplest, a £1.99 Digital Fridge Thermometer works.   25. Temperature or moisture/condensation could be a factor if you do have a poor connection. Have you looked under the bonnet to see if you can eyeball the wire in question, or get a hand/phone camera to it? Just inboard of the battery, and down a bit, near the gearshift mechanism. Grab a multimeter from anyone you know who has one and measure battery voltage first thing, before putting the keys in the ignition.

    I think that you may have a sensor fault, mine light up the road the same regardless of the load.

  28. so the Octavia went in PX the other week for a Superb. There's only really one reason for the Superb: I got a decent deal on the Octy's trade-in value, and the Superb is higher mileage but relatively new. It's also a diesel. Final numbers from Spritmonitor: 6.08l/100 over 40000kms. Not bad. The Superb's just matched that on the initial runs to Kuopio and back and to the office, so with a bit of luck and slower speeds in the winter, I should see a 5 at the front. Thanks for the support and knowledge, I'll be over on the Superb side for a while now .Bret

  31. Not at all.. I think there's enough people like RTech have supplied, fitted and advocated them that they can't be all that bad.. although I am, historically, very anti-cone (not even panel filters get a look in usually, I've only ever had 1 car that has benefitted from one). Ok, hardly scientific.. On a warm day, normal driving, not sat in traffic, then sat idling outside the house for a few minutes, the thermometer thingy indicated 32 degrees and was climbing quite steadily. Can't remember if I posted in my thread about fitting the gold reflective tape.. but I did that.. and then.. On a cooler day, a little A-road traffic, after a very spirited drive and sat outside idling for a few minutes, we had 27.5 degrees and slowly climbing. With nothing to compare it to I don't know whether that's good, bad or ugly.. doesn't seem much noisier with the cone though.. which is ok, my neighbours appreciate it, I'm sure.
  32. Lookers are an abysmal company. I used them in Guildford on two occasions, the last being when I was told I need a cambelt change at a cost of £700…. The Service Advisor then argued that I didn’t know what I was talking about after I’d pointed-out the EA888 engine doesn’t have a cambelt; she then stomped away, calling me a f#£king wa&ker, just loud enough for me to hear. But it was the 8 week wait for an emergency appointment and (now chargeable) courtesy car which spelled the end for me. I suggest you think about using Wheelbase in Hersham; that’s where I’ll be taking the 280 in future.
  33. Yes, it still works. Its two different systems so they are made to work separate but it is great that they work even better combined together. If you can have blind spot assist - don’t skip it!

  37. TPI = Technical Product Information. A bit like an internal dealer memo that warns of defects and recalls. Creaking can come from worn strut top bearings.

  41. Awesome project mate. I have been reading this topic from beginning to the present in these last two hours. It's just... amazing. The hundreds or thousands of hours you have put in this car!!! Just a question that could help me. Where did you get the "genuine Skoda accessory boot bags, and a new genuine Skoda boot liner"? Because they look awesome and I could definitely use them so I can free some boot space. Half of it is taken by my tools, but I reckon I'll have enough for some wrenches or screwdrivers in those bags. And the boot liner! Clean.
  42. Looks like a job well done fella.... You shouldn't need to splice into the obd port, an ELM327 Bluetooth adapter (double check that - it's been a while) should connect to the Torque app on your head unit - I'm assuming it has Bluetooth..
  43. rare one, but i think justified... recent works completed on one of our bridges, a full rope accessed vegetation removal, major instream scour protection works carried out (in a special area of conservation... thank god i wasnt involved in that bit) and also a deep ckean and repointing of mortar joints. 150 ish yrs old, its looking brand new other than the handrails...

  46. The only place I could find them was on Facebook. They did reply to my message quite fast. Quoted £95 for the brace. Here is a bit more info if you need it. Tel number-- 07973746353 [email protected]. I notice they go underneath the scuttle panel out of sight. So if they don't slightly improve handling, you can't really see it for cosmetic effect either.
  47. So remove the large bit at the bottom (hopefully my trim removal tools will ensure no lost bits) then the window frame piece. Perfect. And thank you 😊
  48. Can't help you with removing the trim, but here's what I did as food for thought. Never even considered removing the trim myself, just used the same tried & true method from the install on my old 306. Consider that if you tuck the cable underneath the trim, you're going to have to cut a hole in it somewhere to get the cable out at the camera.
