  1. Article here Autocar is suggesting that the use of touch screens is more dangerous than a lot of illegal things (phone, drugs and drink!!) I hate them cars and find them very difficult to use.
  2. Got some time to kill so I decided to sit down Ayr shore in the car with a Morrisons Sandwich with this gorgeous view of the Isle of Arran.
  3. Totally agree , you very often have to look at a touch screen to use it but a 'proper' hardware button can be felt using fingers so there is rarely a need to look.
  4. Without knowing for sure how individual OEM’s set up the control systems for monitoring battery performance, it does stand to strong reasoning that a system capable of tracking current flow to and from the battery and map them relative to corresponding measured voltage would at some point adapt to match the change in performance offered by fitting a new battery in place of one at end of life. Voltage drops off quicker in a damaged battery vs new battery for a determined current draw time. Therefore a battery condition map can be generated. The Banner article certainly supports that. Resetting the BEM would trigger a learn process similar to that when resetting TPMS. After changing an EFB to AGM in our Fab 3, Stop Start was near instantly available. It was 3 months before I asked the dealership to check and update the settings at annual service and the battery is fine. AGM will take a more aggressive charge and discharge profile over EFB and Flooded so updating the vehicle settings to AGM exploits the additional battery performance without overcharging gaining emissions/fuel savings with extended alternator down time. As for the OP and a dash full of lights going out after a recharge but coming back a few days later. That’s a strong whiff of battery capacity loss that the system can’t compensate for but recharging gives temporary respite showing all is fine with a decent amount of energy present. Deep discharging and/or excessive heat kills batteries, cold weather exposes the damage.
  5. you will need the security code of the radio itself, but you should get something from it assuming it works.
  6. Arran from Maidens.
  7. We may all have the old look Karoq but a Karoq in the hand is worth two in the bush (aka factory awaiting chips) IMHO the differences seem pretty minimal and only die hard "Karoq-heads" are really going to notice enough to care. + who wants Stop/Start that cannot be turned off with a button? 🙂 Paul
  8. Took me a while (and I think reading the manual) to work out how to hang up, which is similar to making a call. As above, you need to be connected by Bluetooth. Press right scroll wheel so the up/down green arrows are on right side and scroll until the phone appears, if it's not already there. Press the bottom right button on the right hand side of the wheel (the one that switches the dash display if you've got a digital one) and it opens a new menu. If you're in a call you can hang up or place on hold etc, select option and press right scroll wheel. If you aren't in a call, it shows the last dialled/received numbers which you can select and call in the same way. Sounds complicated but when you're used to it it's as quick as using the buttons to turn off lane assist! In terms of the Android Auto query, I can make/close calls even if AA is connected, only difference is the phone shows as 'Android Auto' rather than my phone name in the right hand menu. Hoping that helps in some way...
  9. the interweb agrees it's Raglan (I posted a link, but this site has kindly provided the picture - there is (now) a circuitus link in the meta data)
  10. .....Though weren't/aren't we 'original' UK16SBC members all on 215/60's? Welcome to @Urrell nonetheless!
  11. @SurreyJohn. I am not mixing up diesel and anti waxing and winter. There is Winter Spec and summer petroleum. Deliveries starting mid October in Scotland and north of England and then south as the month goes on. Same as In Continental Europe and rest of world. Different times of year, seasons like for Australia. The UK sometimes have stock coming in later into the spring as supplies are brought in from Europe and North America. Maybe do some research and if you are stuck I can help you. Less hygroscopic formulation with the winter petrol. Try a Google. 'UK still buying winter gasoline as European refiners switch to summer.'. People really seem not to know what they buy or use which is an issue when discussing what economy or performance they get from fuels. Winter spec 97 or 99 Ron MINIMUM super unleaded in the UK can be lovely and especially if it is 100 + Ron that came in from continental Europe where 100/102 is more available. https://argusmedia.com/en/news/2133338-europe-faces-summergrade-gasoline-overhang http://sp3h.com/blog/107/
  12. Open one set of diagonally opposite windows an equal amount and the drumming is not noticeable and it improves through ventilation (Covid tip). Don't you have cup holders in the rear dropdown central armrest?
  13. A couple from Rufford park the other day - the lake was still partially frozen
  14. Well, after 2 years of Octavia vRS ownership I swap over to another Yeti today. A Laurin & Klement non the less. 😊 The vRS is a fantastic car, but I always yearned for another Yeti.
  15. No, but it should be obvious, my guess is the high pressure hose leaking.
  16. Nice to see you decided to keep it on the road, suppose you were expecting some cost as it is nearly 20 .

  18. Get prices for both? Sepulchrave is right, especially if it has been like this since you purchased the car. How do you know that they weren't "old skool" ravers?
  19. Been messing about with so-called "filters" on my new phone. Honestly doesn't look too bad IMO.
  20. That was meant to be Fakra male to SMA Male not female to male.
  21. Hello and welcome to Briskoda! Hopefully you get your Citigo issues sorted.

  23. Stern performance rear seat delete kit fitted
  24. Rieger side skirts are on. Defo tidies up the dimply sills. Need to figure out how to fit front flaps for the winter.
  25. Could also be fuel returning to tank overnight replaced by air. Try switching the ignition on several times without cranking which will run the in-tank pump. Then crank the engine on the 3rd turn of the key.
  26. First of all thanks for probably the best forum there is about Skoda! Been reading here for many years now. It helped me tons! Especially now when I'm working on 2 different Fabia VRS TDI's! Both are car audio cars. One for Demo use and one for competing in some Emma SQ/Espl classes. And ofc they need a lot of work due to the fcken rust....
  27. So - yes, number 3 plug has a special monitoring circuits in it - and is usually the first glow plug to fail. However, I would add that if one has failed, you need to replace all 4. VAG charge silly money for all of the glow plugs, but try and put it into context that these are genuine parts and you won't have to touch them again for another 100k miles.
  28. Sounds like the wiring loom between the a pillar and the door. Pull back the rubber bellows cover and check for broken/ chafed wires. Plenty posts in here and yeti section on how to repair.
  29. Please note - I am not a mechanic or expert in anything. Yes that's it thanks, scaffolding and hedge have gone in the 20+ years. I remembered three castles we went to Grosmont, Raglan and I wasn't sure if I had the right name of White Castle, but I had, but I'd also forgot we went to Skenfrith as well, all small ruins but fantastic to visit at that time of year, very atmospheric and the Czech car was ideal for the snow. It was on our 3 day honeymoon, in different B&Bs - but posh as we'd gone to a foreign country.
  30. I collect my 60 iv December 1st, I'm exited, anyone got a 3 pin cable they want to flog cheap? as I'm without a home charger until January 26 next year🥴
  31. They have E5 at Strantaer Morrisons now.
  32. Yes, it’s in the same place on the 280. Says 98 (95). The Esso garage on the A75 just outside Stranraer didn’t sell it, just 95 and the Morrison’s in the town didn’t have any of their Super 97 (I think it was) either. Couldn’t find it anywhere in Northern Ireland and none in the South so stayed on 95. I’ve now got a few bottles of Redex octane booster which shoves 60L upto 97, which I’ll keep in the boot when we go there again.
  33. It's interesting that the govt don't discount the price of it since they've watered it down with bioethanol. It's all fine and well saying it's less harmful, but if cars are using more of it due to it being less combustible, then what is the point Thank you
  34. Lots more threads than these on the subject around the forums. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/497917-new-e10-fuel-and-economy http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/497147-e10-fuel-in-a-2021-vrs-20-petrol http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/490693-e10-fuels
  35. Vinyl stripped off the hardboard backing of my roof lining. Omg! This is after Kohl Rod and Custom have scrubbed it several times with disinfectant and sanitiser. No wonder it smelled musty! The plan is to paint with flexible rubber paint to seal it, and then re-cover.
  36. Yep, still some of us original 16” wheelers around!

I placed an order for Octavia Estate 1.5 SEL Manual with no extras on 26.8 .21 I asked dealer for update this morning . Factory has accepted order but no build date allocated . Am not in any rush so happy to wait .
  38. Check that there is voltage when 1st turned on - this is possible using a voltmeter which you can view from the inside by opening bonnet, connect positive lead to glow plug terminal and earth lead to battery negative or even engine and placing meter where visible. This would confirm if power being supplied. Also possible to remove glowplug supply cable, connect a meter cable to thread where supply was and other cable to engine then select continuity test on meter. On mine I use the buzzer option on meter - no buzz suggests open circuit/burned out plug. Do this on each glowplug and remember to NOT turn ignition on. As above, if removing use extreme care as they can get stuck in position with carbon at which point you may be able to hear them squeek as you turn them. Even if they start unscrewing, they can still tighten up when partly out. Bad starting - should only be in extremelly cold weather - is worse that having to chance what happens if you have a snapped glowplug in the head.
  39. Have been running mine without shields for years with 312mm discs on the front. shields rotted about 5 years ago.
  40. I am sorry, I have called it Rearguard which is wrong. It is the Rearmaster Switchable universal OBD cable CHECK that the usb plug is suitable for your brand of Dash Cam, for instance my cam is mini usb. From Amazon, it may be available from other retailers.
  41. Velvet Red....? Have a couple of pictures of my SportLine Plus iV by Winter on Vega wheels with Kumho winter tyres (today) and Summer (not today) - Supernova and Pirelli.

Did you know there is a hidden button on the back of the seat to remove the headrest. Below is taken from the workshop manual "Karoq 2018 ➤ General body repairs, interior - Edition 12.2017". Quite why they would hide it is beyond logic though - you would imagine that the emergency services might need to be able to locate it in the event of an accident and hiding it like this must be a bit of a hinderence (not to mention inconvenient for the odd Ikea or "Mole Valley Farmers" trip).:
  43. Latest Updated Speedcams - November, 2021. Here's the latest update of my customised version of EUR Speedcams ( November, 2021). They consist of the full EUROPE speed cameras which I've split up into four consolidated poi categories i.e. Fixed Speedcams, Average Speedcams, Variable Speedcams and Redlight Speedcams. They come supplied with my own preferred personal choice of icons, shown below, to match each of the categories. Remember to Install them as I explained in the first post in this thread i.e. after extracting the zip file remember to open the newly extracted folder and place only the PersonalPOI folder and metainfo2.txt file onto your sd card ( Please Note: a usb stick will not work! ). Also, please remember to select/tick the relevant newly added poi categories and the poi audible warning alert in your infotainment map menu settings after performing the update or they will not display on your map or audibly alert you. Hope you all enjoy them! EUR Speedcams November, 2021.zip

  45. Buy Bosch aeros. Worked immediately for me, and just as good nearly a year on. Same on most cars I have had. The basic problem is that the OEM-fit ones are rubbish blades.....
  46. Good day, sorry to hijack this post but I am having exactly the same issue tried everything to clean them and nothing! So going to buy new blades. Anything I should stay clear of, always went Bosch on previous cars?
