Someone who lives 5 doors up from me had a blue VRS iV estate delivered today. I collared the delivery guy when he was dropping it off, he didn’t know when they ordered it so I’ll make sure i loiter around so i can “accidentally” bump into them and interrogate them😄
  2. Stunning pre-sunrise sky this morning
  3. It's early to tell really, though the engine feels quite tight and stinky because it's so new obviously. I'm doing the running in thing, but a relatively light prod of the accelerator revs straight to 4K even in D so it shows every sign of being a hoot. I was also expecting DCC in Comfort mode to be softer than it appears to be, so the jury is out on that. ...and there's just so much to set up and tweak to my liking, it'll take a while to get it dialled in. I've also been driving a smaller car as a stop gap since I flogged my S-Max last year, and now the Kodiaq feels massive by comparison. Maybe I should have gone for 360 cameras after all. 😉 All in all extremely happy and can't wait to finish getting it run in so I can enjoy the performance too.
  4. Another delivery to report. My VRS ordered mid August has just turned up. I went light on extras so no Canton, lane assist, 360 cameras or blindspot monitoring. Went straight from no build date to left the factory in early December. Looks nice in Brilliant Silver though. Really sorry for all those still waiting. It absolutely ridiculous which order cars are getting built in.
  5. ....which is why I have activated "scandanavian lights" mode - the rear lights r on all the time, like the front DRLs.
  6. Another update on the canton retrofit. spent this evening creating all the twisted pairs ready to run the wires. Yes it would of been a million times easier to just run straight wires and the difference in sound quality wouldn’t of been noticeable, but the factory wiring came with twisted pairs for all the speakers, so that is what I’ll be doing. at the same time I’ll be running looms for blind spot assist and direct tpms. May as well with the entire interior stripped out
  7. Same can be said for car parks without electric charging? The electric chargers and electric are paid for by those using them. They charge a fee to plug in and a fee per kWh. Oh and we probably all pay in tax, but save in tax spent on healthcare. Don’t forget all the nasty effects on the brain and cancer that have a possible link to things in fuel.

Best get an order in toute suite then. The Zwickau factory is flat out.

If it handles well I’ll have one, because the id3 was horrific on our test drive but otherwise decent range/price in the LR version
  10. Do yourself a favour and don't even look at the mpg figures for the first 1,000 miles or so. Oh, and give premium unleaded a go... 😁. Really? It's like a cruise ship rolling from side to side. Made everyone feel sea-sick, so it's either normal or sport for me. Enjoy! Mine started to really loosen up around 1,000 miles in, but I left it a bit after that before having a proper hoon about. It's worth the wait (both delivery and running in!).
  11. You know how much I hate to be 'that guy', the one who provides a much needed reality check: Your fuel pump doesn't care how much liquid is in the tank around it, it'll pump it just the same until that liquid runs out. Your car also doesn't care which brand of fuel you use as long as the octane rating is good. However I think you're right that the new commute doesn't suit the car, so I would reset the ECU and make the car relearn the dynamic map on your new commute to get rid of those bugs you've described but which have no causal connection to the quantity or brand of fuel you're using.
  12. What improvement? Pipes is pipes.
  13. One day the problematic backlog will be fixed
  14. Used the metal prongs that you slip the stereo out with and the plug slips straight off then
  15. Berisford said "WD40" (not WD 40 PTFE Dry, WD40 PTFE {Wet} or WD40 Silicone). I think most will agree that when someone says just "WD40" people will reasonably assume they are referring to the original WD40 penetrating spray which is not a good lubricant at all and will likely cause more harm than good. There are literally 1000's of posts on the subject all over the internet. A wet PTFE (that can seep into the gaps / pinch points) would be my personal choice. It will then dry off and create a slippery dry layer that should last. WD40 maufacture a dry and a wet PTFE spray. The dry spray needs direct contact with the problem area (that you will likely not be able to see.
  16. Yeah, the mount twisting, and that big bend in the axle, (in line with where the jack is pointing, where the paint has flaked off) give it some rear wheel steer! there are impact marks on the inner arch liner where it got pushed further but rebounded back a little when it didn't have a (non) mini stuffed in it. I don't think the insurance company will think so; all 4 wheels have been marked, 1 is bent. 1 new rear axle 1 new front wing 1 wing mirror then paint the entire side (there are marks on both doors) and a little pull to get everything back into shape. (our bodyshop friends had a look on our ramp, all doable.) but for me, if I can call in some favours and do some work in trade, it'd be totally viable.
  17. Different circumstance I realise, as I used to live both sides of the channel. I wired the UK nearside light in, but via a simple 2 way switch thus enabling use of the relevant off side light dependant on which side of the channel I was. Never had a problem with either the MOT or now Controlle Technique!
  18. That's the whole point of DRL - Daytime Running Light.....so u r visible at all times, even if u r under a bridge or shadow for a sec or two - u r still visible!!!
  19. Direct TPMS is not standard across any of the Skoda models. In most markets, it's not even offered as an option for ur Skoda. Russia offers it as an option on Kodiaqs there. Indirect TPMS is the normal. Its known as the Tyre Pressure Loss Indicator (TPLI). TPLI uses the wheel ABS sensors to compare the rotational speed of each wheel to determine differences in tyre pressures. There is no extra hardware or sensors required, hence it's standard. TPMS has extra hardware - 4x pressure sensors in each rim and a receiver module. This gives u the actual tyre pressure readings. The Audi version goes one step further and gives u tyre temperatures in addition! I retrofitted the Direct TPMS version in my Superb last year. I'm happy with it. Indirect TPMS..... Comparison.... Direct TPMS...
  20. Hiya! I bought and installed the same unit (IQ90MTVL) earlier today in my Skoda Yeti. I'll share word document with photos that I created as I employed the tried and tested "trial and error" method. Documentation could have been better. 🙂 I too bought a number of accessories (GPS, front-facing camera, rear-facing camera, TPMS, DAB+), some of which I wouldn't buy again (GPS, DAB+ (doesn't work in Ireland)). Please give me a day or two to finish the document and I'll share the link to the upload site on here. Sláinte! Gaff
  21. Lots, my social circle are a mix of teslas, Hyundais, Kias and an EQC. I’ve had a ride or go in them all. Personally, there’s a lot of great engines I’ve yet to own, and I fully intend on doing that.
  22. Our Skoda Connect was due for renewal last November and we didn't feel the cost was worth it. We have the personalisation option and both our keys trigger adjustment of seat, mirrors etc. whenever we change driver. Satnav also seems unaffected with roadworks and traffic conditions still showing. So it looks as though all we will miss out on is Satnav map updates - we can live with that although some think there is/will be scope to update maps ourselves via USB-C socket. The remote access and other things CJJE outlined, we don't use.

  26. Was Running on Fumes during petrol crisis when it was really cold...that's when I switched to the Momentum Fuel, Plugs if you remember I was only member to burn through a Denso, so it's been platinums NGKs for last 4 years. Sounds like could be excess water moisture 💦 in tank. A few things to try eliminate then, thanks
  27. No idea about the low fuel tank other than this below, water in tank. I never had one low for long and never had a tank less than full when parked up over winter for even a few days. The E5 is less Hygroscopic than E10 and the Winter Petrol from November to March is less Hygroscopic than the Summer formula. https://mechanicbase.com/cars/water-in-gas-tank-symptoms/ ***Any H20 is in the bottom of the tank and not floating on top.*** ...................... OT. If the one spark plug gets oiled and soot and then the tip starts to burn off it does not matter how long ago or many miles fitted. That has caused the death of many a twinchargers. Which plugs are in the car now? You are going to have to possibly drain the tank.
  28. I did try my home wifi but the range isn't long enough - having said that, I might give it a go at the in-laws as their Wifi has a ridiculous range. Thanks for reminding about that option I'm not sure if I am bothered enough to get a Vodafone sim just for this - time will tell. Happy hunting for a solution!
  29. Whoever pays for the car parks to be built, and car park operator. That's for the <7kW chargers. (eg. supermarkets, workplaces, household driveways, etc) 43 kW and faster rapid chargers should be paid for by charging network operators (see Gridserve, BP Pulse, etc) or car manufacturers (see Tesla, Ionity) Only the early experimental ones installed by the council are paid by tax payer money. They are unreliable due to being early units and poorly maintained. Going forward there shouldn't be any more.

The UK buying public might be interested in which EV in the UK is best on 60 mph speed limit roads at cornering with 4 adults and luggage in the boot while being able to stay on it's own side of the road. Right hand drive ones that you need to use a left hand on. Medium sized surely like a Golf / Leon so how does that then become a Small EV? Fiat 500 / VW e-Up! are Small EV's.
  31. I’d say: <7kW unlimited and have plenty 22kW chargers are 4 hours (a typical day out) 43AC/50kW DC chargers are 90-120 minutes 100kW are 60-70 minutes 125/150kW are 45 minutes 200+ are 30 minutes. Basically long enough to fill a car with a typical long range battery from nearly empty to 80%. However I’d also allow a 15 minute grace period when the car hits 80% then start charging idle charges. That way there is an incentive to get the car off the rapid DC. Perhaps some car parks could offer a move from DC to a 7kW AC to get from 80-100% gets you free power if you’ve paid for the DC and moved the car. I have to say though I would probably see a use for say 6-12 bays sharing 2x22kW supplies which can configure to 2x22/4x11kW / 6x7 /12x3.5 and any viable mixes. That would allow faster charges and more charging points.

I find it surprising how many of us, including myself, are still using and are happy with our old Panasonic Plasma TV (and room heater😁).
  33. Hi ScottyNS I am not sure that any network other than Vodafone is any better, but other people on this forum are more likely to have a better answer. I have tried using Skoda Connect with a Vodafone mobile hotspot and also 3 and Plusnet (part of BT which I believe uses the EE network) mobile hotspots. The only one that seems to connect to data services is the Vodafone mobile hotspot (no surprise there as they are the recommended network from Skoda) or my home wi-fi, if I connect to the other hotspots all I keep getting is the error message, No data link available, please try later. Cheers, Maz
  34. There's an awful lot of misinformation about car infotainment systems about...
  35. Thanks again. Those last two links you put up at the end of your post nta16 both work absolutely fine when entering my VIN. That was a first! I have successfully downloaded all the logos to a USB and even managed to get them on the radio - my IT skills are improving in leaps and bounds😀. The foam in the SD slot is, I sure, just a dust/debris exclusion feature by the way. Both my previous Skodas, a Roomster then a Fabia estate, were bought as ex demo models so the radio set up was already OK. On this recent acquisition I had initially gone for another ex demo but was offered a new one for the same price! Presumably that boosts the dealership new vehicle sales! All sorted now anyway.
  36. Hi Thygesen, The update to firmware 480 didn't fix the problem. I bought a used car I am wondering if Skoda have to allow me to become the legal owner of the car and allow me access to Skoda Connect, so I have sent Skoda an email asking for their help and advice, as soon as I get a reply I will update this thread. Cheers Maz
  37. Thanks Roottoot I have already read up on the warranty Ts and Cs.
  38. By known good battery I mean one from a car having the electrical system in working condition.

That's really impressive! Congrats! Your delivery is completing the dismantling of the hypothesis around here that diesel orders are pushed backward due to pollution quotas to be met by the VAG group. We've now seen all the scenarios: TSIs, TDIs and IVs being delivered either very late or quite soon on all sides of the old continent. It no longer seems to be a matter of East-West or TSI-TDI discrepancy, or even further - a matter of more options vs. less options... I can only imagine they organise from time to time at Skoda HQ, a behind-closed-doors lottery to decide the happy clients that will receive their cars the next month... Don't forget to upload some pictures on the dedicated topic and let us know your first impressions.
  40. The things you mention @nta16 aren't anything to do with the engine ECU, fairly obviously. There is no MAF on a 1.2 HTP engine. No Fabia with its original factory fit radio needs a code entering anywhere after a battery disconnect/reconnect, to the best of my knowledge. Have you actually tried this thing yourself?
  41. All car manufacturers will have lean manufacturing best practice in place. The issue I have is that they have no plan and make things up as they go along. Zero communication with customers or dealers. It is not good enough. No excuse for that!
  42. ah, perfect, yeah It's got remote central locking. I've tried the 6th from last, ebay compatibility checker also say's it'll fit. I can always send it back if needs be thanks for your help
  43. You need to check continuity from the injector plug back to the loom plug. Call a mobile auto electrician if this is a problem for you.
  44. Fractured cables in the drivers door bellows.
  45. So I've had chance over the last few days to test out the Hankook Synergy 4S all seasons. We've had a load of snow and crazy cold weather (was -17c last night!) so the snow just isn't melting. I am super impressed. I've been up and down hilly country roads, through the town in start stop, roundabouts, car parks etc. Been spot on and really good grip and feedback. There was only one time where I got stuck. I parked up at work in fresh snow scraping on the bottom of the car. Then it snowed all day. I tried to drive off but the snow under the tyres had melted and turned to ice and then I couldn't push through the snow. Had to dig a bit of snow out the when and then managed to get out.
  46. I find it amazing that some people dumbly think all seasons (clue in the name) are only for snow, and not seasons of summer, autumn, winter, spring There are also those who don’t realise winter tyres are for colder weather, but seem to confuse them with Nordic tyres for use where lying snow exists for months. They seem to think summer tyres are for all weather, not realising they are poor in cold rain (and the low rolling resistance Eco summer tyres seem poor below +10c in wet) which of course we have months of in UK
  47. We recently changed cars and unfortunately the car only came with Summer tyres fitted (they were some cheap no-name things anyway). I couldn't be bothered sourcing a second set of wheels for winter tyres and swapping them around all the time so went for all seasons this time. I'm in Germany so I need to have at least tyres that have the alpine symbol on. We live in a pretty flat city, other half works from home and my work is only 6km away so all seasons are just fine. I went for Hankook Kinergy 4S 2 in the end. Got a good deal for 264€ fitted (thats a good deal here and about 100€ than some equivelent Goodyear etc). I had chance to drive them in some warmer weather after being fitted (20c) and was impressed. Driven them in thick snow the other week and the grip was equally impressive. For a fairly mid-range/bidget tyre they're pretty good. Excuse the recording while driving. This is actaully a private road with zero through traffic that leads to my friends farm. Hence zero grit or snow plow. The main road at the end was completely clear! https://youtu.be/fsrntg3qGM4
