It seems I will go on holidays with a brand new Skoda. Just got an info that the car should arrive to the dealer this week.

Skoda Phoenix Orange in very bright sunlight. The colour ranges from almost yellow to a bronze in lowlight. I think its a "marmite" colour, but im done with "50 shades of grey" 😳 For the last 12 years I have had black, silver and grey, all neutrals.
  3. Hindsight is always 20/20. Incidentally (not directed at you @J.R.), no-win, no-fee lawyers aren't all bad. Some of them do good work for people who can't afford to take wealthy people/institutions to court. Nobody should be priced-out of getting justice.
  4. Lovely sunset just now - especially like the colour right down near the horizon 👍
  5. Oh how I wished that I had taken that action instead of joking about it and pouring scorn on those who did who learned today of a right little earner. And I recently paid £150 to have the "fix" removed, covid restrictions meant I could not go to Celtic tuning for the remap, they would have done it free for me at that time, also add on the £99 I paid for an EGR emulator that arguably may not be needed now the "fix" has been unfixed. £2100 or what is left of it after the ambulance chasers fees is actually not much compensation for someone who may have had to pay to have their EGR, DPF, throttle valve etc replaced and putting up with a car that runs like **** and dealers whos attitude smells the same. Good on you those who claimed and more fool me!

You can't really do anything except wait for the aircon guy to vacuum test it and find the leak(s).
  7. Thanks for the link PetrolDave. My usual garage has knowledge of a mobile guy with an appropriate coding unit, so he's arranging for the S/S to be "killed" sometime next week. Cheers, Ian
  8. That Highway Code definitition would only apply if you shifted from D to N. With it in D you have full control when it's "coasting".

Congrats mate Which dealer if i may ask? Soon we will start getting comments from people that ordered this year and got the car already, while we are still waiting for 1y+ old orders 😂 Good job Škoda
  10. I have to get excited about something since my actual project car needs more money throwing at it than I can afford 😂
  11. Thanks again for the replies. In the interests of fairness to Skoda UK it now turns out that no claim was ever submitted to them : instead the dealer's warranty administrator decided that it would not be allowed because of the "logging" issue and the message delivered to us was "confused". No idea where this will end but the Skoda warranty team could not have been nicer or more helpful. So I guess the moral of the story is not to take what the dealer says at face value and go to the people administering the warranty. The dealer has now had the car for a week and it's no clearer what needs to be done or whether it will be covered but at least it's clearer where the log jam is. I guess the worst case is we pay for it with reservation of rights and head off to the Motor Ombudsman
  12. The Highway Code definition of coasting is and is based on the premise that the driver is in control of the gears and clutch, and hence in an emergency where acceleration is required may fail to react quickly enough to restore 'drive' Coasting with a DSG gearbox is a different situation since the car remains in gear and within milliseconds of the driver pressing the accelerator the TCU will re-engage the appropriate clutch and restore 'drive'. Another case of the Highway Code not keeping up with vehicle technology and/or being poorly written.
  13. I'm not sure that I will be able to contain my excitement while waiting for photographs of track rod ends, coolant hoses and a badge.

Bit of dashcam footage. @Warrior193 the chateau is there briefly.
  15. Let's not talk about how much I've spent in the last ten minutes on bits for this car... let's just say it is not compatible with apprentice wages 😫 List is as follows: 2x track rods - there is play somewhere in my steering and I'm 90% sure it's one or both of the inner joints Both track rod ends - might as well while I'm in there since it's getting wheel alignment anyway A couple of coolant hoses - I've had quite an alarming leak from a rubbed through hose for a couple of weeks now A front Skoda badge - it looks tatty A front grille - If you look closely in above photos you can see that mine brayed (braid?) a pheasant at about 50mph not long after buying the car Photos of it all on the car to follow next week, fingers crossed!
  16. Couple from a walk around the local reservoir earlier. So many midges!!!!!
  17. Okay lassies, handbags doon.
  18. They are completely different gearboxes. The Tiptronic being a 6 speed torque converter automatic. And the DSG is a 7 speed dual clutch gearbox. The Tiptronic will be thirstier than the DSG and especially mated to the older tech 1.6 FSI. The 1.6 is obviously a much older engine design but also chain driven like the 1.2 TSI. The 1.2 TSI is a newer turbo charged engine and although a smaller engine it has more torque and paired to the much quicker and sharper DSG will be much nippier than the 1.6 Tiptronic.
  19. tyres with more tread really ought to be on the rear as that's where the stability comes from. Hence also swapping them early to get the wear equalized. Can't say i do it myself specifically - we swap when the winters go on (and they're directional anyway).
  20. Hi there, My Octavia does not have this option. Does anyone know if I can buy a this part and add it to my car ? https://www.skoda-parts.com/spare-part/3g5035954a-usb-c-connector-38659.html Thanks,
  21. It'll be about 7 different colours before it gets paint eventually. I'm able to do most of the work myself but I'll most likely drop it off to my mechanic to have the rear drums done "proper" and basically look over it to make sure it has a fighting chance of passing NCT. I admit this is still a ways off. I've got 2 years no claims this month, and no penalty points so it shouldn't be a big ask to get some insurance on this when it's time to. I've been meaning to write out a proper list of what needs doing. Hopefully it's not 4 pages long.
  22. They'll match the seats well Definitely considering making a black headliner after seeing Stewarts one.
  23. Nice 'haul' there. Looks to be the same door cards I've got as well.
  24. Damn How much did it cost to get the code?
  25. Skoda want £600 with water pump. That’s your benchmark
  26. This is nothing to do with the DSG box, it’s the drive-by-wire throttle pedal. Get a pedal box and it disappears, even in bypass mode. Given the millions of vehicles with DSG boxes globally, the numbers of failures are minuscule, albeit it’s bloody annoying if it happens to you. Unless you’re going to buy a RX Lexus or above, you’re buying a badge engineered Toyota and yes, perhaps you will find them marginally quieter than the Superb diesel, but that won’t be a surprise given they do not make s diesel. You’ll be buying the 10 year warranty over that 10 year service period, via in an uplift in the service costs and it’ll be underwritten by an insurer, but it’ll be transparent to the owner. I had the misfortune to have a CT200h for a while. An underpowered, poorly built car and noisy with it.
  27. @Penpusher winter tyres are not just for snow. They are for cold and wet too. Anything below 7c (most of UK winter commuting hours) is best with winter rubber. Your profile says Brecon. Can I at least suggest you look into tyre usage? All seasons would be a good all year compromise.
  28. By spot on, I doesn't mean zero. It's pretty close to zero but moves around when revved last time I checked. I thought timing was the problem but had timing checked professionally and through vcds and both seem to show no issue.
  29. So today I had the whiteline anti lift kit installed along with the alloy control arms and solid shifter bushings and also a full alignment - the shifter bushings really are worth it! On a separate note, for anyone interested, the install videos are now starting to feed onto the youtube channel
  30. @brian245 just like @roottoot mentioned I had a whiteline rear anti roll bar installed on my 2016 Fabia - absolutely worth it! I also had Eibach springs on stock shocks, it handled beautifully! It was a joy to drive

Just called my dealer, he told me that the factory promised to finish this year all cars that have been ordered in 2021. However he said, that he is not guaranteeed, that is true, because he said that factory have two major problems, doors and harness.

Care to remind us about how much information did you get between ordering and this email? Seems like you did not have much time between production date to shipping? For me it should take about 4-6 weeks from finished to delivery. Yours went to production early this month and its already heading your way?
  33. "Front Assist" is the system that randomly stops you overtaking, and slams on the brakes when it thinks a crisp packet is about to run into the road in front of you.
  34. lexus warranty is extended at no extra cost. you just need to do a service in lexus and you have the warranty extended by another year, up to 10 years.
  35. I like the turns and not travelling in boring national roads with steady speed for long time looking far away in a straight line. I like to drive in mountain roads full of turns like these: https://i.imgur.com/hHXX5DV.png https://imgur.com/8hgxPdO https://imgur.com/ZQ3v2pZ https://imgur.com/zLt5RSj In the past i was driver with 2 stroke 250cc and 4 stroke 400cc motorcycles and i have an 30 years experience (in this style of roads) in brake pads, brake discs designs, brake hoses, suspension adjustment, coolant types, octane gasoline experiments, weight balance and ''racing'' between other drivers in mountain roads (yes, i admit it sometimes was wrong). I am a persist driver (not a Kamikaze style) and many times i have beat other cars higher HP than me because many times those drivers think that everything is like a straight line-press the pedal-lot of HP-i pass in front but when comes the time for consecutive turns often the ''lose it'' especially with braking. PS: before all these i was an armoured vehicle driver in the Army.
  36. No need to do this. There is a rocker switch on the B pillar down by the driver's seat (RH drive) which switches off the motion censor, whilst leaving the rest of the alarm system working.
  37. Can't help with a head unit, but fronts should be 16.5cm-17cm. If it's like a Mk1 Fabia you'll need spacers too as the OEM spacers are structurally integral to the old speakers. I personally found that these Pioneer speakers were excellent in the front of my Fabia, could shoogle the seats as well. I don't know the dimensions of the rear speakers of a Mk2 Fabia, but in the Mk1 they're 10cm, and I used these Pioneer ones too. Only bought either because they were cheap. The rears don't do much for bass and overall power, but nice filler. Hope this helps.
  38. I DID read what you wrote, which is why we're having this pointless, dumb, circular, semantic argument about your po-faced literalist response to my humourous comment about coming home to a real fire. I wish I hadn't read it but you quoted my joke and you sounded so butthurt about the excellence of your Vauxhall Speculum that you totally were indeed banging on about that I felt it incumbent upon me to point that you were being like a Spurs fanboy on a Gooners forum... ...and they all lived happily ever after. The End.
  39. Just heard from my dealer, My car went into production (confirmed by Skoda email) on Wednesday 9th May and it has now left the factory. They have said it should be with them in 3-4 weeks. typically 1 week after my holiday to Cornwall which would have been a lovely test for range / comfort for the new car, instead taking the Wife's polo :(
  40. I am from Hamilton, my dealer is Ebbett, I will go back to them and find out what they can do for me... Thanks
  41. Welcome. Maybe a mod can move this to the Roomster section. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skoda_Roomster What age of Roomster are you looking at? 1.6 MPI 6 speed tiptronic to 2015. No idea till when in the UK. 1.2 TSI DQ200 7 speed DSG 2010 on to 2015. The petrol 1.6 is maybe more of a noticeable difference. You want to read threads on those, there are those in the Roomster section. I thought the Tiptronic was discontinued early, it had no service schedule but by now it might well have had an oil change and if not will want one. ** Members can maybe comment on fuel consumption because emissions look high.** To your mum there is maybe nothing to notice as a difference even though a tiptronic is very different from a DQ200 7 speed twin dry clutch DSG. A 1.2 TSI and DQ200 dsg will shift gear as fast as anyone will be wanting. There are things to look out on with the 1.2 TSI and DQ200 DSG and that is age dependent. Timing chain, plug lead, service campaign on DSG, These should have been addressed by 2022 on the models involved.
  42. Fitted a pro ram panel filter and a correct gti airbox as I didn’t have one having swapped for the forge gear a while back,
  43. Another vote for rotating and replacing all 4 in 1 hit.
  44. Gulp... Plus $1550 clutch and about $400 in other parts. So $8kish, or a little over 4,000 English pounds

Yeah it was, they knew nothing other than it will only take about 5 minutes! Lol always helpful🤦‍♂️
  46. When my MK4 was in for a service I had a Sportline Superb estate courtesy car. For me the interior and info system in the Superb was a huge step backwards. Felt like a 20 year old car, rubbish info screen, sat Nov,etc. There is additional space for sure but it's not significant and the hatch vRS is more than big enough for four adults to go away on holiday for a couple of weeks very comfortably. When I looked up the list price of the Superb over the vRS I couldn't believe it was nearly 10k more for the superb. I appreciated some people have had issues with the info system in the mk4 (I haven't) but not withstanding this there is no comparison, get the MK4 it's a huge step forward imo and cheaper too.
  47. I think you mean "having Lane Enforce inflicted on me".
  48. Went out today to run some errands ($3.06 a litre for 98) and after a while I was getting the overboost issue again. Tightened the banjo bolt again on the wastegate and it improved a bit but I didn’t dare tighten it any more in case it became righty-loosey. It gradually got worse as I drove until I had no boost at all so I called at Lower Hutt Repco where the helpful staff and I found these sort-of-similar copper washers. Problem solved! Full boost is back.
  49. I like to wind up salespeople. I ask them if they know the demonstrators tyre pressures and if they say no i ask them to go check & be sure they are safe. It is their job after all and if they are not happy then tough.
