  1. IF you read the thread you will see that this dashcam is powered from a device that has a permanent live as well as switched and uses the cars battery capacity when the car is off until a preset voltage is met. There is absolutely no question that the dash cam was causing this situation being set at 12V which is way too low.
  2. Carburetors still being a ****. If its not filling with crap from the tank its the cork gasket not wanting to seat. On the brightside though I finally have a logbook in my name for it. Anyway. Set about checking the valve lash so popped the valve cover off. Turns out it's the 1.2l Justys that are 3 valve. Even though its the same Engine ""prefix"" for the 2, the 1l is 2 valve. For some reason. All of them were set exactly to the specs shown on the bonnet, so I left them be. Then I started on the timing belt. I took off the alternator belt. Obviously well past due, have a new Meyle one for it. There's an access port you can get to by removing a plug in the drivers side wheel well. Didn't bother removing the wheel, locked it hard and that gave me plenty of access. Pic of the old subaru belt on it. Looked okay. Didn't look like it was going to fail any time soon anyway. Old Belt vs the new Gates one. Didn't bother replacing the idler pulley as it was fine. Really not in bad shape for how long it must have been on there. New Belt on. And done. Only took about an hour. Didn't start it as the top of the carb is off again. One last thing is I was gifted a Cassette to aux adaptor for this. Bit pointless considering. But proved that the cassette player works flawlessly.
  3. Funny you mention Varta, my previous Superb mk I 2003 1.9pd was fitted with a Varta from new. It was still going strong when I sold the car to a friend in 2015 and battery carried on for many years after that under new ownership. Sadly that car recently went to the big scrapyard in the sky due to major structural rust. The Moll battery in my Superb mkII 2014 1.4tsi s/s didn't last so well. It failed after lack of use during lockdowns etc.

    Do they still operate?
  5. A horn gives a warning to other road users, not just pedestrians and cyclists. If it can't be heard it's pointless. So having just bought a Kamiq I'm certainly planning to change the horn as the standard one is useless as a warning to most drivers.
  6. You might want to change your network security key as it's now in the public domain?
  7. I would also ask for an ash / soot reading A 4 year old diesel with euro6 emissions equipment fitted, that has only averaged 5k miles a year, could have done lots of short journeys and be very heavy on fuel if almost permanently trying to do a DPF regen to clear out baked on residue.

Your maintenance list says, DSG oil needs changing in 4 years, but as far as i know this model (1.4TSI) has got life long DSG oil and there is no way of changing the oil. Can someone else confirm me about it please.
  9. Yeh it’s from National company. They’re calling me Tuesday so should know by then.
  10. It’s not from a Skoda dealer but will be ensuring everything is done or will get them to do it before I take it. Will take an extended warranty either way as it’s peace of mind. It was last serviced at 20k miles in June but don’t know what was done until they send me the history

@automass Ideas are fine. They can only tell you what the script is they have to follow. In the UK that will be @ 5 years. It is not rocket science or even based on mechanical engineering. You decide about your vehicle. There is no warranty involved because even if you bought an extended one taxis are not covered. As to Customer Services, those call handlers have no more knowledge regarding the maintenance of a Skoda than you can find online.
  12. The car could be rejecting the process if not everything is working correctly, it could have tested EGR function and won't allow it to regen. Here is part of another document about DPF checklists. EGR System must function
  13. I am 800kms away from the VAG technical info I have on DPF regeneration but I'm fairly sure that it said EGR was inhibited during the regeneration process to maintain a high enough temperature, this was something that I looked long and hard at before deciding to fit an EGR emulator/simulator. I agree that the temps are too low, it sounds like the post combustion fuelling is not happening. Come to think of it the ECU needs to know that the EGR is fitted and working (monitoring of flap position) in order for a regeneration to happen (hence the reason for the emulator/simulator) it sounds like the "delete" is to blame.
  14. Haldex should have oil changed and pump filter cleaned at 3rd service. Skoda dealers will only change the Haldex oil but for the job to be done correctly the pump filter needs cleaned. Picture shows pump filter at around 20k and why it should be cleaned.
  15. I'm guessing it's started fine as it's warmed up a bit - myself I'd say your battery's days are numbered. It's lasted longer than on my son's 2016 stop/start Octavia. That battery was changed 2019 - Stop/start batteries don't seem to last as long.
  16. Receveid the screen Today. Plug and play and can go too the navigationscreen by the menu.
  17. Not a chance, the differential would do ten million miles without ever changing the oil it was filled with from the factory, or between 10 and 1000 miles after the Haldex was serviced by someone indiscriminate in their choice of orifice! 😆
  18. Under inflate the tyres and over torque the wheel fasteners, tyre fitting golden rules😂
  19. Had to take the empty wine bottles to to the recycling centre so decided to take the Swift, for no other reason than it needed a run out. After getting rid of the bottles, I took the scenic route home. It really is a fun and very capable little car. Yes, there are plenty faster and more capable cars out there, but I like the Swift for the fact that very few know what it is, it's diminutive size and very usable level of performance. (especially with the CTC Performance add-ons).
  20. Thanks @Jakester, Cheers for the information. I purchased my kit through Australiatowbars.com.au and fitted it all myself. Ill shoot them an email and see if they might be able to send me out a new module.
  21. I’m not denying it, I said it doesn’t FEEL any different. The official figures show that there is literally mm’s difference, so unless someone is ultra sensitive I doubt most will notice.
  22. Thanks!. I'd forgotten that switch was there!
  23. Are you all missing power? For me it seems that with FWD is 250hp like the reasonable limit... Of course more is better, but I would be afraid of lowering the durability of other engine parts. Same with DSG, which has limit aroun 420nm of tourqe.
  24. When you start the car you’ll soon get used to the routine of pressing the steering wheel button then the silver rotary control to turn off lane assist. Two button presses then it’s done. Re the infotainment, yes I’ve had a couple of glitches with it, but nothing major. Having the lead plugged in to the iPhone makes no difference to connectivity one way or the other. I’ve had the car for 3 months now and the minor irritations are just that and nothing more. I love it.
