  1. Ditto. First, considering the state of our local roads, which require a degree of pothole dodging, it becomes an irritant within a few hundred yards as one seeks to dodge around them and LA keeps trying to argue! Oddly, the manual (is it permitted to mention that? 🙂) says It is ".......designed primarily for driving on the motorway". Second, the lane markings are heavily worn around home, so it gets hopelessly confused about where they have gone, and finally, there is a stretch where a single lane branches into three on approach to a roundabout: one left turn, two straight on, and it has a total nervous breakdown! 🙂 Also, if you're on a stretch of dual and want the right lane because you'll go right at the next roundabout, it goes all silly if you haven't indicated the lane change even if there is no following traffic - because Lane Assist doesn't/can't know that, can it? I really don't understand why you can't simply turn it off, and leave it off.
  2. I can understand a 16 year old or even a middle aged born again sports bike rider not wanting an indicator the size of a baked bean can ruining the sleek looks of their machine especially when a tiny but higher intensity LED indicator is very visible even in bright daylight, just look at what cyclists have now. But the idiotic pre-pubescent car stylists seem to have decided to do their best to completely hide indicators on modern vehicles and render them invisible even when flashing.

Finally... after 26 months I picked up my Octavia PHEV. Ordered on August 29, 2021. Received on October 30, 2023. Gray graphite Style 1.4 PHEV Dynamic package, Selection package, side assist with rear traffic alert, soundproof glass, heated windshield, rear window wiper, 230V socket, alarm In July 2023, I received information that production was possible, but I had to pay extra +16% of the original 2021 price. 😵 For a month I wrote emails with the dealer myself, because the order included information about the price change ONLY if VAT or excise duty changes, but I lost patience, because they stubbornly claimed that there was no other option than an additional payment. 😠 I handed the case over to a lawyer and the lawyer fought for me for 3 months. He won the 2021 price. 👍 There is joy with the car, but distaste for the dealer remains. 😟 I wish everyone a short delivery time and a hassle-free dealership. 😊
  4. It's a great idea to get into the habit of doing regular checks - maybe once a week for a start, then perhaps monthly when you've noted a pattern for your vehicle - Oil and coolant levels, tyre pressures, washer fluid. Get yourself a bit of kit, not much really required - good tyre pressure gauge and 1/2 litre bottle of correct grade oil.
  5. You may well find that the oil level is higher when oil is at operating temperature. The thermal expansion of the oil more than compensates for the 'wetness' of some of the surfaces higher up the engine just after it has been running. Oil at operating temperature flows very easily and drain holes from head to sump are large. See what you find, but be careful to always extract and wipe clean dipstick before re-inserting to get the reading. You will get a false result otherwise.
  6. I will top up the oil tomorrow, and then do the trip we were supposed to do today (~600km in total). Then next week ill book an apointment to have the oil and oil filters changed. Last time I had that done was march, but since then we drove about 9k-10k km so I think it's time. But I'll for sure be checking the oil every month or so from now on, and before and after long trips. We do the 600km trip every 1.5 months orso.

Whoa that’s big money, low miles! I can afford this one
  8. Well, yes, but far easier to just turn it off! 🙂 Perhaps I wasn't quite clear on the lane change indication. If there is other traffic to inform of my intended manoeuvre, I use the indicator, but where there is no other traffic, I don't. One is expected to be aware of other traffic, and I see no point in signalling where there is none, merely to satisfy a dumb machine that has no idea whether or not there is other traffic. On that basis, I don't find Lane Assist at all useful, just an annoying distraction. Sorry! 🙂
  9. Cannot agree. It is not particularly useful and tries to steer for you. Far better to turn it off and then you don't have to predict it doing anything. I would keep it on for long motorway drives where your attention may be in danger of dropping. That is all. Additionally I was taught by an ex traffic cop to use my mirrors when changing lanes and if there is nothing in the lane I'm pulling out into then no need to indicate. And returning to the left lane on a two lane dual carriageway no need to indicate.
  10. They know the type of customers they get staying. Anyone know how much the tariff is for charging? I doubt i could afford to stay there though. I see Longleat, 35 chargers, that would be 70 charger ports. Difficult to set up, only charges overnight from 11 pm. That is on PlugShare. 39 pence/ kWh. Someone says 3.6 kW on a shared charger. ZapMap says different about charger number but 3 kW and poor Mobile Reception in the car park and had to go to the Plaza. All about the trial and error, but Mr EV might update the experience. I know how he felt, and that is even knowing what can happen and does happen. But 'had it pretty much all day', "7 hours, 8 hours", 30 %. well all day he did about 65 miles if that. Hybrid / Tesla, i take it Editing right at that point.
  11. aas - Am I reading this right you bought the car at 28000 miles and now approx 18/19 months later you have done 7000 miles. That is not optimum usage for a modern diesel with dpf and egr. I previously had a diesel Yeti that never missed a beat until the post emissions scandal fix. It started having problems with the dpf regeneration and the egr. If I detected a regeneration taking place (usually at or towards the end of a journey) I would then keep driving using a lower gear on a dual carriageway, keeping the revs up to ensure the regen finished. Aborted regenerations are a problem in waiting. The car's original egr failed and was replaced under the 2 year post fix egr warranty. Two years later, with my annual mileage substantially reducing (i.e. to around 5,000 miles a year from a previous over 15,000) and coming to the end of the second egr warranty I did not want to risk a second failure so I traded it for a petrol Karoq. The diesel Yeti was the best car I ever owned ...up until the emissions fix screwed things up. I think the problem is that diesel technology has still not yet caught up with low mileage use. When I was looking to replace the Yeti I only had one car salesman warn me about low mileage diesel usage and that was at a Land Rover dealership. tom
  12. Yes, there are limitations to the Lane Assist but they are learnt very quickly. On local roads the places where LA gives a nudge such as the one lane becoming three are quickly learnt too; just anticipate the LA nudge and steer/drive through it. As for moving to the right hand lane n a dual carriage way, what is wrong with using the indicator? I really do not understand why anyone would disable a very useful bit of technology just so they don't have to use an indicator stalk. 🤷‍♂️ Embrace the technology because it, and more, will be in every car we buy from now on.
  13. You could always 'unmodify' it back to how it was before returning it. On such a recent car I'm a bit surprised it isn't configurable via the existing user interface though.
  14. Does your car have the feature where a sustained press on the 'unlock' button of the remote starts to drop all the electric windows (and vice-versa for the lock button if windows are left open after shutting all doors)? If it does, try it and see which windows move/don't If it doesn't have that functionality on the fob, try turning and holding the key in the drivers door lock to try to achieve same. If all windows work, that would strongly implicate a switch fault.
  15. You have correctly identified the coolant temperature sensor, yes. Sep may well be correct about exhaust valve damage, but best to check compression which is relatively quick and easy.

In first gear and clutch depressed, can you start the engine or does it jump forward?
  17. The problem is exacerbated by high level rear brake lights especially the LED ones as the current legislation still dictates a maximum wattage and not luminous intensity, they can be much much brighter than a 21w halogen bulb behind a red glass and are directly in your line of sight. Rooted, some of the modern front and rear indicators with clear lenses are so tiny that if they were fitted to a moped the flics would pull the youngster over and fine them yet they are fitted into massive LED rear light clusters that go across the whole rear of the car, its very hard to see the turn signal amongst the massive array of rear lights and with the brake lights on pretty much impossible, and thats if you havn't had to look away because of the brightness and the high level one.
  18. Of course I suspect I would only see an issue with front / rear grip imbalance in extremis - I very much enjoyed an off-road driving course some years ago where I learned to steer the car on the throttle. I also had loads of fun in a (closed and snow covered) local supermarket car park with a RWD 3.0 V6 Lexus learning how to handle the car in poor conditions.
  19. Car is 6 months old (12k miles). OEM tyres had date codes of 39:22. 4-5 mm tread remains and all seem to be wearing evenly, although the car required a new steering rack (under warranty) and underwent tracking adjustment thereafter. Incidentally Asda tyres were a bit dearer than my local independent for Cross Climates
  20. Headed out with a Tripod this evening- absolutely freezing 🥶
  21. Yes, as in the out of date Highway Code and even in the updated one. If stop for extended times apply the parking brake. As in do not dazzle those behind. Not an issue in daylight or night time if not raining. Many have no idea, or say it does not matter, or others with brake lights have never annoyed them. Sit or move for 10 miles slowly and take up to an hour or more like Glasgow, Edinburgh can be and some change lanes just to get awy from following the worst of brake lights, maybe BMW or Mercedes, Police Volvo X90, and now Electric cars with a light bar the width of the rear. Not that the EU bothered, or with Front Fog Lights that can come on automatically when reverse is selected regardless of what ever might be coming to wards you, Or used as Cornering lights so as someone pulls away from stopped at road work traffic lights or moves the steering wheel an extra light comes on.
  22. Are you that incompetent!? The point is not that signalling is a good or bad habit. The point is that rote signalling to stop the Lane Enforce system activating is a bad habit.
  23. So you're only doing it to negate the LA? Or you could just turn LA off and not have to.
  24. If you look at the Kodiaq Owner's Manual, you will see that the only tyre and rim combination that is approved by Skoda for use with snow chains is 215/65R17 fitted to a 6.5Jx17 ET38 5/112 57.1 rim. As Skoda don't sell cars that can't be used with snow chains, you can use this tyre and rim combination. Take a look at the car's CoC (Certificate of Conformity). All the tyre and rim combinations that Skoda approve for your car are in there. Skoda (or any of the big car manufacturers that sell cars in Europe) don't approve any tyre and rim combinations that aren't approved by ETRTO (European Tyre and Rim Technical Organisation). In Europe, ETRTO is the only authority on what rim width any particular tyre size can be fitted to. When discussing what rim widths can be used with any particular tyre size, you can't leave out the aspect ratio. This is because the ETRTO approved rim widths vary not only with the tyre width, but also with the aspect ratio. In general, as the aspect ratio gets smaller for any given tyre width the range of ETRTO approved rim widths gets bigger. For example, both 235/55R18 and 235/50R19 could be fitted to a 6.5J rim width, but a 235/45R20 needs at least a 7.5J rim width. ETRTO approved rim widths 215/65R17 6.0-6.5-7.5 235/55R18 6.5-7.5-8.5 235/50R19 6.5-7.5-8.5 235/45R20 7.5-8.0-9.0 255/40R20 8.5-9.0-10.0 As you can see in the below Skoda alloy rim catalogue, there are many Skoda approved rim sizes for the Kodiaq. However, check your car's CoC to be sure what is approved by Skoda for your particular car. 25. Skoda wanted their cake, and to eat it. Needing long life (variable) service intervals to appeal to company, hire and fleet buyers, but also needing to ensure they were seen to be doing as much as possible to get customers through the doors of their franchised retailers more often than once every two years. Skoda… “how are we going to do that then?”. “Let’s invent an alert on the dashboard, asking our customers to take their vehicle to their dealers for nothing more than a visual check over!”. The ‘inspection’ warning was born. So too was a whole load of confusion and unnecessary charging by (some) dealers.
  26. Unlikely that you have, but it is very black from working so hard and you likely have wasted fuel because to cool the low oil level wasted it. EDIT, not so Black i looked again, the tissue shows more how the oil is. Do not go for a Variable / Flexible Service regime, get it on Fixed Servicing Oil & Filter changes.
  27. mine has updated over the air two days ago. All went smoothly.
  28. There's nowhere else in the manual that specifies which oil you should oil. Of course they're gonna be vague about it so you have to buy their overpriced stuff?
  29. But, be aware that speed limits get changed before sat nav. mapping catches up, so the limits the sat nav. gives are almost invariably out of date. Also, unless your sat nav. has automatic map updates (and many (most?) built in systems don't/can't do this), the mapping may be years out of date. The only reliable option is observation of the roadside speed limit signs.

The engine has been turned off for a least and hour - thought it would have cooled down by then ? Or does it still go through the coolant pumping process regardless of engine temparature ??
  31. To be honest it's still good, just annoying that the update system seems very hit and miss. I think most of the major problems were back in 2020-2021.
  32. I bought it at 39k 2 years ago and cannot get hold of the previous ocd owner. One thing is for sure, this lining has been off before, its had a dremel on one of the T25's. Will post pics after.
  33. With the current promotion it will be £143.18 / tyre (fitted) from Costco
  34. Apologies - I obscured the reg plate. The car is a 23 plate, factory order, which I collected 6 months ago. Tyres were rotated at 10k miles.
  35. On my 2002 Octavia 1.8T 4x4 the engine build date was 4 weeks before the car build date. I think my 2007 Fabia vRS was the same.
  36. It used to annoy me when I sat behind a car with their brake lights on, I considered the driver an incompetent inconsiderate twerp. However if it's a feature of the auto handbrake I can hardly blame them if my car is doing it as well. Will the brake lights come off if I manually apply the parking brake?
  37. I was hesitant to query the brake lights, but glad someone did. I also assumed it to be a UK/Regional thing. I imagine it would never occur to most people in AU, and absolutely no-one would sit at the lights with hand/emergency brake on. On the other hand, driving with super-bright headlights coming at you can be a genuine hazard since you are actually moving, not stationary.
  38. If you raised the engine revs to maybe 1500rpm just after starting this car, I’d expect the voltage to rise to over 14V. Also if you monitor the voltage at the “ciggy lighter” socket, and take the car for a run, after a mile or so, with the car on the over run, again the voltage should get up to over 14V. If the voltage is always 12.??V then the alternator output is not varying as expected for some reason.

Thanks but I do not have the option “automatic locking” present on my bolero system (see above posts)
  40. How's your A/C? That sounds like a case of low refrigerant level to me.
  41. ACC should really be off in adverse weather conditions, Flooded roads where aquaplaning is a possibility, Snow / Ice etc. As CC should not be used.
  42. Interesting Side note, a strange thing, When I am inside the car and I lock the doors (accidentally) from the remote, the central locking/unlocking is disabled, I have to unlock via the remote.
  43. Test fitting is done. Discs are centered within 0,5mm as Brembo and AP racing reccommends. Dismantčed and packaged and ready for balancing by the www.elmet.hr separatelly discs and hats due to the fact it is floating setup (0,35mm floating), and than hard elpxing in nature alu. Ofcourse new MDX Blue stuff are comming to
  44. I went to my Skoda dealer who tried to get rid of this message. He managed to get into the "Privacy" settings, but it didn't allow him to amend anything related to this message. He did a system reset with no joy. (I'd already tried this previously myself). He agreed with me that it's most likely something to do with Skoda Connect. If I was to sign up for that then it would probably allow me to amend a setting that would get rid of this message. I've no intention of getting Skoda Connect as I don't see the point of paying £50+ a year for a load of "features" that I'm not in the least bit interested in!! eg. I'm told I would be able to view all the car's journey statistics on my mobile phone. Big deal. !! It tells me when my car needs a service and books it for me - what's wrong with Google calendar reminder and picking up a phone ?? There are other so called "benefits", but I honestly can't see me using them or wanting them. Just an excuse for Skoda to extract more money off their customers. I've now got used to just tapping the "OK" button on the screen when I start up, so it's no real issue anymore.
  45. I’d concur with the broken wires. If you need replacement locking modules let me know as I know some aftermarket replacement that I personally use and, suggested to others that have been an excellent replacement.
