  1. Could be an ABS sensor on one of the hubs!

One should only use indicators to inform other road users in the immediate vicinity. It is pointless to do so if there are no vehicles/road users who will benefit from a signal. If the road is relatively empty with no close vehicles behind & one is changing lanes to overtake a slower vehicle in the mid distance then no indicator is required.

I'm only a few days into ownership of my (new to me) 2020 Octavia & already I want to permanently disable this so called "lane assist". The weird feeling when it's trying to wrest control from me on the 2mls of narrow country lane I need to travel down to leave my village. 2mls of intermittant center white line coupled with the occasional solid white line on the nearside. It's not like I'd ever need to use an indicator on there, unless someone's broken down or maybe a non local horse rider perhaps. Is this really a "safety" feature? I like to think that safety starts with being in 100% control of the car & driving according to the conditions within your ability. I remember a traffic cop stating many years ago that the only "safety" device that needs fitting to a car is a 6" spike on the steering wheel pointed straight at the drivers throat.
  6. @tich1958 - I wasn't thinking exactly the same thing(s), but I was having similar thoughts to @rum4mo about component wear that allows suspension to be in correct static alignment but go out of alignment when the vehicle is moving.
  7. I think that most tyre/steering chains now have "alignment benchs/tables" - that sort of thing should be able to check camber, though a few years ago, my local one did not seem to have worked out what was needed to check the castor! These rear bonded bushes do end up distorted in some cases and the material torn in others, I got the LHS one replaced under the 3 year warranty on my wife's August 2015 VW Polo 1.2TSI, when changing the tyres to "winter" at the start of last winter, I spotted that the RHS rear mounting bush looked a bit distorted - as in the centre alloy bush had separated from the rubber material - so I replaced these bushes on both sides a few days ago, the hole in the rubber on the RHS is now oval with an "air gap" at each end, so that bush would be allowing quite a bit of "extra" movement - but no sign of uneven wear on the removed winter tyres - and I do measure them at 3 points after swopping tyres/wheels. Next idea might be to check the track rods as the inner swivel joints can end up wearing and having a bit of free movement, I had that on a 2002 VW Polo 1.4 16V at around 90K miles, it had been reported as an advisory at the MOT, so I just replaced both track rods and maybe even both TREs. Why I'm suggesting this is, if there is some slack in these track rods, the steering geometry will be free to move about.
  8. Impact wrench if you have access? When I faced something similar on the Superb a few weeks ago I used the angle grinder. If you're worried about damaging the ARB, split the nut and stud vertically, or cut across the nut just above the flange. I think a nut splitter is going to struggle with the flange on that nut.
  9. My Karoq never coasts in Drive. Have to be in Eco and showing E I realise this is not the same for all vehicles, drivetrains or years.

Sorry not an answer to your post. ? Why not just get a Remap, especially since it is a 1.5 TSI ACT. You are informing your insurance anyway. There are threads in the Performance on remapping and there are members now that have had them done.
  11. Electric vehicle registration continue to power ahead in the UK..... https://www.smmt.co.uk/vehicle-data/car-registrations/ PHEVs overtake diesels as they move off the bottom of the table and wiesels become the bottom of the stack. Wonder how long before they join hydrogen cars as too insignificant to enter the data in to the SMMT table ie give it to 2027 I reckon, ie way before 2030. Though I presume some of the PHEVs are diesel, Merc E300de, any others as I am struggling to think of any others ? Is the Merc still on sales ? Was last year ie 2023 I read somewhere. Bet its very heavy.
  12. Yes they're all the same, eBay doesn't know anything because it's the vendor who puts what it fits.
  13. Ok here are a couple: Another observation when comparing with the mk3 Rear passenger heating controls: No air flow control wheel anymore. Only directional control. Seems a bit of an oversight. Maybe there’s a control that the driver has instead eg heat or not heat the rear. Haven’t looked at that yet. Heated rear seats still there though. No more front fog lights. I think the led headlights do it all now. The little offside under dash cubbyhole is now gone. Always the way when you’re comparing against what went before. Otherwise one would be none the wiser. No getting away from it being a lovely car though 😊
  14. i would go further and say its daft/stupid imo
  15. The tracking & alignment was free as I had requested it and they don’t charge if there are no alterations. I’m wondering if it’s down to the advisories on a previous mot
  16. Hi only the latest generation OBD2 adapters, and also a bit expensive, go into power saving I don't think Torque has the procedure except for the Phone, better disconnect it from the car !!!

Thanks a lot for the reply. Today I went to the another VAG mechanic and he mention when they see those codes 75% issues related to fuel system ( Fuel pump - high pressure fuel pump - EVAP - charcoal canister - fuel sensor) and he said other %25 chances are ( intake manifold - PCV or Turbo) Since i know my turbo whistle last 6 months I made and appoitment and they will have a look i will keep you guys updated.
  18. Re the TPMS. Looking good is not the point really. ? Did you check or reset the tyre pressures when you got the car, set when cold & reset the TPMS. Are the tyres at that same pressure when checked again when cold?
  19. The latest Kamiq doesn’t show gear numbers in D or E only shows in Manual or Sport modes.
  20. Hi the extension cable may not have the correct pinout, you should check the connections on the car side and OBD dongle
  21. Hi, Many thanks for your replies. We had a lovely Fabia Monte Carlo in Black over red bought new in 2014; it was gorgeous but with it's skinny tyres was like riding on a skateboard and we felt every ripple in the road. We were invited to a VIP day in 2016 and two days before we visited the main dealership looking at various models; we liked the Yeti but wondered if it would be costly to run and insure also it was bigger. Attending the VIP day I was on my own; my wife was too ill to accompany me; we liked the Yeti we had seen and sat in on show in the corner of the showroom with other customers also giving it a good look over. I printed off the best two prices from CarWow taking these along and to save lots of haggling I showed these. The salesman went into the office coming out with a big smile saying we can better this by a great deal. The black Yeti we had sat in was still in the corner of the showroom and I was seated next to it; it was a "Pre Reg" with zero miles on its clock. The deal offered was much better than I could have dreamed of and the trade in price of the Fabia was what was quoted on Honest John's website on top of this free paint/upholstery protection was included. I couldn't understand why it had remained unsold. We were sorry to let the Fabia go it only being two years old but boy; this Yeti is something entirely different; it being diesel it doe's a lot more miles to the gallon and it is the adblue model attracting then £30 road tax; road tax has been £35 for the last two years and amazingly the insurance for the Yeti is quite a bit cheaper than we paid for the Fabia. The extra ride height is so useful making life easier for my wife to get in and out; it's very comfortable indeed with its full leather interior and it doesn't rattle our teeth driving over Kirklees pothole infested roads; we paid £600 two years after buying it to have all season tyres fitted "Tyres on the driveway" A battery cost £280 it being the only replacement needed and when bought we paid an extra £240 for the spare wheel. The world these days is a bad place but inside our Yeti is glorious peace; I love driving it and for both my wife and I it's the best car we've ever owned and likely to ever own; I dropped the wing liners last years and rustproofed using Bilt Hamber also I did the inner doors and cills; I really want to get it fully rust proofed but can't find anywhere nearby to do the job. Trade our lovely Yeti in for a milk float; no way we wouldn't have a milk float given and parking near one worries me in case the milk float self combusts. Kind regards, Col.
  22. I got 4.9l/100km on the 200km outward leg of my last big drive. Sunday morning, little traffic, all on motorways, virtually never needed to use the brakes or the accelerator after the first kilometer - just left it on ACC at 80, 100, 110 as needed for the posted limits on different stretches of road. A calculator says that 4.9l/100km equates to 57.65 miles per imperial gallon. For the whole day I did 475km and included some more congested driving but where possible I used ACC and I got 6.0l/100kn. That is 47.08 miles per imperial gallon.

The coil light started flashing and the engine management light went on, that’s only lights that where on, not sure of the error codes that where generated
  24. If, and I think you believe it is?, the oil smoke is created in predictable usage conditions, try removing the oil filler cap just before you would restart the engine, and see if you get oil vapour expelled from the rocker cover.
  25. lol, we have just been having the same conversation but in opposite. We was talking about going bigger, mainly as I have to have the seat all the way back and the kids are starting to complain about leg room. Issue is I kinda love the yeti, don’t really like the Karoq and have no idea what to change too. Was speaking to Skoda salesman about an Octavia but the car we was looking at was an estate and I don’t really think we need that big and it seems like they don’t really want to deal with me as the car I was looking at my px would be 80-90% of the deal. Might start looking at other manufacturers (I’d like a golf or focus) but nothing really appeals that has more leg room.

Agree, Indicating is a lost art in Australia. On a good ,well marked road lane assist is fine. Unfortunately good, well marked roads are like hens teeth where I live.
  27. Yes logiclee, same here. We are not using ours anywhere near what we were. Thinking of going to a little smaller car & so far having a problem what to get. Been looking at a new Yaris cross hybrid or a new shape Vitara hybrid. But they are certainly not a Yeti replacement.
  28. @Mikey_au @nta16 has raised another very good point. Unless the package is specifically "tuned" for differential tyre sizes front and rear, no 4WD system (be it part-time reactive like Haldex, full time like Quattro system, or part-time selectable like an old Land Rover "series") will appreciate differential tyre sizes front and rear, and the result may be the car "trying to fall over itself", particularly when cornering.
  29. When mine got to 7 and a bit years old a couple of months ago I got cold feet. Yep it had only done 28k miles and was in outstanding condition and had full Skoda history. But I'd not had a car this old for decades and I have a close relationship with my Skoda dealer. They desperately wanted it before the 8 year cutoff to sell it as an approved used car. So I bit the bullet and swapped it for a new Karoq. I'm still on the fence whether I did the right thing but I wasn't really doing the mileage for a diesel.
  30. Ours was 9 years old on January 12th. I gave it a polish last week and it looks like new, the roof rails looked a bit jaded so I treated them to a rub down with Owatrol and they look new again. 57,500 miles and going as good as it's ever done, excellent roadholding with about 60 mpg if not pushing on too hard, the annual road tax went up this year to £35, my motorcycle is £117! It's a keeper 🙂
  31. An intermittenty sticking thermostat would have been first on my list of suspects. As you are soon getting that changed, I'd wait and see the outcome.
  32. I read this morning of Volvo (Geely) suspending sales of vehicles and giving compensation or buying back. Software issues, charging issues, safety issues basically. This is very very much the issue with the latest of vehicles, BEV or ICE. Computer says no. Or can not even communicate with the vehicle. When the screen is where the driver has to do even basic stuff to be able to drive the car then total failure is really really as issue. Then not being able to charge an EV is 'Play stopped'. At least they appear to be a bit better at doing something than the VW Group.
  33. Did you flush out the fuel system and refill it with fresh fuel?
  34. My other half agrees. Could have had a used Karoq or Tiguan in February, but she demanded another Yeti ! I travelled 4 hours each way to get a 2018 one for her ! There's no reason why your car won't go on 'forever' or as long as you want it to.
  35. Whilst it can mostly be relied upon for only allowing you to select permitted combinations of options, the configurator isn’t always infallible. If your dealer can’t answer questions, I’d suggest a different (better) dealer who knows about the cars they are selling would be a good idea. But… I’ve just looked and tried on an SEL (7 seat 1.5 mild hybrid) and you can have ACC with a heated windscreen. If you select the heated windscreen as your first option, you get three options - the first with just the winter pack, the second with the winter pack and driver assistance, and the third with winter + DA plus. The options with the DA packs use the winter pack with the 3-spoke steering wheel, which seems to be key to the combination.
  36. wow, I thought ours was pretty low mileage, ours just turned 10 years old now and 45,100 miles. In for service and mot on Thursday, fingers crossed for an all clear.
  37. A slightly smaller Enyaq. Make an Octavia replacement and sell millions of em!
  38. I made some car ramps out of 2.0" angle iron when I was an apprentice in the '70s. Arc welded them all up & they were really strong & weighed a "ton". Couldn't carry both of them at the same time!! Ramp angle was fine for '60's & '70's cars at the time but would be no good for modern models. I lent them to a "mate" & never got them back😒
  39. Yesterday i finished fantastic 3615 km round trip across Sweden and Norway Thanks to the default speed limit 80 km/h, got numbers which i haven't ever seen before - top score on the display were 6.5 l/100km. Calculation for whole trip is 7.8 (36mpg) by filled 98/95 vs kms Keeping to the speed limit didn't save me from being stopped by an unmarked traffic police car, Škoda Superb wagon followed me about 15 kms - they didn't like the maneuver of overtaking a nearly stationary car as driving in the opposite direction Enyaq was still ~500 meters away, i overtook without using the accelerator pedal and returned to my line No fine just papers/trunk check and talking about driving safety (first hour in Norway) . . . . . .
  40. Update . this part was the troublemaker . Its a cooler for recycled gasses.this part is one of the diesel system witch can cause that dpf is full too soon. btw… this service action will be pretty expensive … cooler 250€, cleaning dpf 100€, mechanic find out my rear DCC shock absorbers was tottaly leaked out so 2 new dcc shock absorber . Sweet life .

  42. These aftermarket cameras are nothing but rubbish generally, people fit them and they either give up not long after, or they dont work from the get-go. Pay the extra and get a genuine reverse camera fitted, more work involved yes, but the pay off is worth it.
  43. @Woohah They can not do it because they have not a Trained & Qualified Technician to work on an Electrified car. Mild, Plug in or BEV, But, it needs doing @ 40,000 miles. By someone that is qualified to do it. THEY NEED TO HAVE SOMEONE ELSE DO IT. ? Were the Spark Plugs not changed at 40,000 miles / 4 years because there was no Technician that could work on an Electrified car / Hybrid? Were the Annual Oil changes the Hybrid requires by the schedule not carried out annually or any other items? So a 1.4 TSI PHEV with a DQ400-e DSG that has not had the Gearbox Oil changed at 45,000 miles is really requiring it being done as 5,000 miles over the shedule. An Owner / Customer is invalidating the Manufacturers Warranty if they had to claim. Any Dealership selling a car should know that the Warranty they have on a car is not valid because of the lack of that DSG service.
  44. Hi Turbointercoolosis 👋 Bought my Superb 2012 1.8 Elegance Hatchback today 😁 Very interested in ideas on mods, have you managed to do any so far?
  45. Whenever you use aircon, humidity in the air that passes through the evaporator (the cooling element in the heating/ventilation) condenses and the condensate water should drain out though the bottom mounted condensate drain tube. How much water depends on the humidity in the air (outside or inside if on recirc setting) Not all water manages to drain for a variety of reasons, perhaps partly blocked drain or a build up of debris or fungis/bacteria or just hanging on the evaporator fins. So when you restart the car after previously using ac, its normal for humid air to come out of the vents and mist up the screen initially. Turning on the ac will dry the air (water going elsewhere) and clear the screen. Alternatively turn the blower up to dry the evaporator out, how long it takes depends on the amount of water still in the evaporator. A good habit is to turn a/c off a few minutes before you complete your drive but leave the blower on to dry out the evaporater before you turn off the engine. This will stop bacteria, fungus and bad smells developing due to stagnant water in the evaporator when the car is stood. It also stops the initial misting you get when starting.

I find that these are brilliant, dirt cheap from AliExpress and they make the key very grippy and resistant to dirt, dust and splash proof
  47. Can you supply more details on your gateway HW/SW (full strings) There is a TPI for MMI & Gateway updates for Kamiq & Scala, so they both need updates, but this might also exist in a document that I don't have. Now for Octavia PHEV there exists... Service measure 27J6 TPI: 2065641 That does reference a change in hardware for the Gateway for draining the 12V battery and battery monitor "For Octavia A8 PHEV vehicles from a certain production period, due to the safety of the 12V battery, the battery monitoring control unit must be replaced and the gateway control unit updated." "Update the gateway control device to SW 7310 via measure code (SVM) 3774."
  48. Evening all, I'm looking for help with a oil pressure sensor. I know where it is and how to get to it. BUT..every socket, spanner ( 24mm ) just doesn't reach it. My question was could I remove or move the plate next too it for better access or is the plate attached to something inside?? Ps I've had it changed once and the mechanic took around 2 hours and charged £110. It still comes up on the dash and I've bought a genuine sensor from Skoda, rather £5.10 from Ebay. Thank you in advance.
